Fourth Week August 2007

A lot of people are under pressure this week. Try to act like you are all in the same boat – you are! Cut each other some slack. Use personal leave time if you have to. And remind yourselves to count the blessings you do have rather than the ones you don’t. Hug the kids, spouse and the dog.

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Ann Miller – The latter part of the week is terrific. You throw your energy into the task at hand, everyone  loves you, movie night is loads of fun, and you just feel so darn lucky to be alive. Eating in appeals more than going out, unless you have the option of visiting Mom. She’s always the best cook, right? Beg for her secret recipes while she’s cooking your favorites. (Even if you tinker with them later.)

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Helen Tamiris – The last Full Moon of the summer seems like a good excuse to have one more pool party. You still have briquettes and margarita mix, so pay back the invites you’ve accepted all summer with one big gathering. The gambling spirit grabs everyone, but not necessarily the luck, so here’s what to do: Host a casino night with play money only, and let everyone win something.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Isadora Duncan – You may feel like you’re outrunning a boulder in an Indiana Jones movie. It’s a time for rolling with the punches and protecting yourself. Don’t make instant decisions right now because you need time to think things over. The weekend looks good for talking things over with a buddy or family member. Find someone to remind you of the values you were brought up with.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Gower Champion – Service organizations appreciate your energies this week., even if you only pour the coffee. Your executive skills come to the fore – you never did like sitting on your hands when there was so much to be done. I see you making internet connections or running an online forum or swap meet.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Leonide Massine – This is such a decisive time for you – you will either break through to the heights or to the pits. The breaks come to those who are ready. Many Leos have been training and working very hard for their big break, so here’s to you and congratulations.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Lola Falana – It’s time for Virgos to make a decision about how to adapt to the changes in the air. Seek to be proactive and maintain control of the situation. Gather the best information you can from advisors and the web, sift and analyze. You may be forced to reinvent yourself (again!) but hey, that’s what multi-talented people do.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Ben Vereen – You’re the Boss Mama this week. Your goddess power surges up from who knows where… maybe that last latte had a secret ingredient, who knows? I highly recommend making a goddess mask as a creative exercise. (A terrific free site at has a self-test and how to make goddess masks.)

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Eleanor Powell – You’re more concerned with insurance for the kids before school starts than anything else. But once they are in classes, you give yourself permission to have your own playtime. Finally, a chance to visit a gallery or sign up for instructions at the craft store. The cat can play while the mice are away…;)

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Hermes Pan – A marketing wiz can be a great help to you now in promoting your company or service. Perhaps an electronic newsletter needs revamping, or the email addresses updated. Seeks bids for new content or web designers.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – George Balanchine – Even stay-at-home Capricorn moms run their homes like a corporation. They run a very tight ship, and everything is planned out to the smallest detail. Ask them how they do it, and take a page from their book, so to speak.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Ruth St. Denis – The beginning of the week is a good time of month to incubate dreams. Refer to for instructions on how to tap into this subconscious level of creativity, knowledge, and problem solving. Your brain has other ways of solving problems than with cold logic.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Marius Petipa – A somber mood on Monday night yields to the excitement of new plans and new insights on Tuesday. Try not to burn yourself out on the first day of the rest of your life…Your mind leaps tall concepts in a single bound this week. This is a great time for quickly grasping new material but not for detailed work. Make outlines, and either triple-check your figures or work with a detail-minded partner.

Third Week August 2007

This Tuesday the 21st is the best day in a long time to start a routine for getting fit and losing weight. And why? Because you will keep at it. You’ll actually enjoy lifting those weights and pushing yourself to achieve more each. Your most creative fall project can be your own silhouette. Start out keeping within your capacity, though; you don’t want to pull muscles the first week of a regimen. Not a good week for taking big gambles in Vegas.

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Joel Grey – Arians (and Aries Ascendant) usually aren’t couch potatoes but even you can benefit from a new and simpler approach to diet and fitness. Is the 5-element plan for you? You get along with your elders this week, and Thursday is ideal for spending time with an old pro who can show you a few tricks of the trade.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Shirley MacLaine – Face it, you’re basically lazy, and a shorter exercise routine, done more frequently, may be the right approach for you. Dust off the free weights and push yourself off the sofa — You may get in a contest  with your Significant Other over who can be the “biggest loser.” Guess who wins?

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Isadora Duncan – Risk taking looks awfully tempting this week and next, but hedge your bets. Make sure that physical risks, too, are carefully planned. You tune in to the big picture Friday, but the detail eludes you. Make a rough sketch to fill in later.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Leslie Caron – The kids aren’t quite ready to think about going back to school, and you’re in charge of finding one more expedition before they do go back. How about visiting a sculpture garden, and then making their own versions in the back yard? Take pictures of the finished projects for the album and MySpace pages.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – Tuesday could bring an honor or award — (or a summons if you‘ve been hanging out with the wrong crowd!). Your dogged work the past two years has finally gotten you some recognition. Try to be magnanimous and give credit to all the unsung contributors behind the scenes.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Thierry Sirou – The 19th starts a three week phase when your mental acumen is particularly sharp. Thursday and Friday are very good for team efforts (see Capricorn). Your mutual respect produces stellar results on a joint project. Saturday is difficult as you start out like a house afire and then problems develop. Don’t let your frustrations spill out into arguments and blame. Step back for perspective.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Juliet Prowse – A helping hand, or maybe a bunch of little hands, arrives on the scene for chores big and small. Treat them afterwards for a job well done. The weekend is great for a spa or sports getaway.  You always did like couples tennis or golf.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 –  Savion Glover – Monday is a challenge day, but hey, you know how to rise to a challenge. Scorpio rising people are also due for some professional recognition early in the week. It turns out you know just the person your friend should talk to about a project. Introduce them to each other.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – June Taylor – You have so much mental and physical energy this week that you could overextend yourself. Double-check your preparations when taking risks. Be like Evel Knievel if planning stunts – he did thorough vector analysis before going near his motorcycle. And it isn’t a favorable time for casino gambles, either.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Debbie Allen – Monday’s a pretty good day for you, as you tap into your own goddess energy for answers to team conflicts. (A terrific free site at spiral has a self-test and how to make goddess masks.) You get along splendidly with others late in the week, especially with Virgo. You two are often teammates when any “heavy lifting” has to be done, and once again you pair up on projects.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Ruth St. Denis – Your energy levels begin to reach normal levels – could it be that lake vacation did the trick? You enjoy watching or teaching children dance. Make time for jumping rope and other childhood games — or just watching the kids play; feel the weight slide off your shoulders as they recharge your battery.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Tommy Tune – Tuesday is when your rescheduled deadline arrives, and you’ll have to produce another rabbit out of a hat. Some people always think you’re fuzzy-headed, and late in the week you give them a little more fuel for that belief. Make a note in your PDA about your big insight to yourself; just wait for the pesky details to come to you later. On the 24th your SO and women friends have their own discussion with you squashed in the middle; bow out gracefully and give them space.

A special thanks to Spiral Goddess Grove for permission to mention the site and quote the “Bless This Day” prayer:
May this day be blessed with gifts

Lessons, understanding and friends

May my energy be a gift to all I meet
Let me be centered, healing and open

May I face the day with courage
kindness, insight and compassion
May my spirit and body, honor this day

Second Week August 2007

Remember the movie theme song that went “everybody’s talkin’ at me”? It’s a lot like that from Wednesday thru Friday. People are suddenly interested in what you’re selling and want to hear more. Whether you have to discount the price or not is up to you, but you’ll be glad to unload your goods and move on. The parties come to an agreement on the value of what they offer; communications flow easily and meanings are clarified. Finalize before mid-September.

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Serge Lifar – (This week applies to Aries Ascendant especially.) Your painting lights up with sunny colors, reminiscent of Van Gogh’s haystacks and sunflowers. Even if you can’t afford to fly to the south of France, you can still drive out to farm country. It isn’t the haystacks and vineyards you’re painting, it’s the light.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Margot Fonteyn – Your home is due for a makeover (especially for Taurus Ascendant). Even if you just painted some rooms, you’re not satisfied. Experiment with arranging pictures, swatches, and floor samples  in different areas for a few weeks before making a final selection. Warmer colors appeal to you now.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Henry LeTang – An extra boost of energy started last week and will charge your batteries thru September. A writing project or list of speaking engagements could command your attention during this period. While you’re good at ad libbing, take care to enter data into your calendar and give yourself adequate preparation time.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Twyla Tharp – You always wanted a fireplace in the family room, and finally you decide it’s time to get serious. Take your time checking out your options. With the many advances that have been made in efficiency, you could possibly have a net savings after rebates and all.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Leonide Massine – You get to talk to a receptive audience Sunday. Monday someone might think you’re more in love with being in front of an audience than with that someone — oh, we know that’s not true, is it? Promise some quality time later in the week, as you come to a closer understanding.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Marge Champion – A tough start to the week as you  get your motor in high gear and no one else is chipping in. Just keep to your own tasks and avoid giving unasked-for advice. We know we’d be better off cloning you, but not everyone feels that way.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Arthur Duncan – Sunday is great for a chit-chat with a friend over brunch. The friend may do most of the talking, but that’s OK. You will get your turn; for now just be thrilled for him or her. Friday night you may have such a cool dream that you get up to write it down or sketch it out. The sun comes up before you know it!

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Eleanor Powell – Late Tuesday you catch a real steal of the night online. The energy of the month is unusually creative for you, especially in tandem with Capricorn. You can’t wait for the weekend because it will be all about you…Maybe you take off next Monday, too, for an extended fishing trip at the cabin.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Alexander Godunov – Your exercise routine or drill work seem to go so much easier the second half of the week. Thursday evening is great for a get-together with chums. Your friendly rivalry is very good-natured, with the accent on “friend” and on not on “rival.” You’re feeling so generous, you might even play host.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Moira Shearer – Call to confirm any Monday appointments before leaving the office. If a time slot opens up, hold an informal brainstorming session with Scorpio, as you are both in creative cycles. Those creative bursts come not from talking or sketching, but from actually walking thru it, seeing the props and backdrops, and improvising.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Gregory Hines – (Also Aquarius rising.) People make you feel more welcome everywhere. And your spouse suddenly seems prettier, or is it the changing angle of the sun as we tumble toward autumn? It could be both. You always were a sentimental type anyway, so a short getaway to get re-acquainted seems perfectly normal. A golf holiday, or just puttering around the cottage, appeal equally to you.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Rudolf Nureyev – Talking with the new hires in the department sparks some good ideas that send your mind and PC into action. Here you were afraid they’d take your job away, and it turns out that together you’re a winning team! Mentally toast the personnel manager when sipping your wine at dinner.

First Week August 2007

You’ve pounded your sore blistered feet for months or years, taking lessons, going from one teacher to the next, and now you see a glimmer at the end of the tunnel. It may not be the bright lights of Broadway, yet.  But it’s something that, if you continue to apply yourself to it, will reward your diligence — and the rewards will be abundant.  Tell yourself, “Something better is coming, and I am ready now.”
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Sergei Diaghilev – The mid-week blahs never materialize because all of sudden  people find you charming and worthwhile. Friends call you out of the blue to come for drinks or a barbecue. Be a good sport and turn out for some quality time. You’re not known for sensitivity but bring something to share.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Fred Astaire – The project hits snags at the week’s start because of uncoordinated efforts.  Two horses cannot pull a cart if they pull in different directions. How about setting an appt. for Thursday to clarify the goals you have in common? Words flow much more easily then.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Bill “Bojangles” Robinson – Monday nt. sees you picking up all the balls that dropped during the day. By mid-week you’re juggling them like a pro and have more energy. See Virgo, as you two could find that a creative partnership opens new avenues of expression. You’re both good at adapting to others. No, it won’t be smooth as glass. But friction creates sparks, and sparks create warmth and light.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Bob Fosse – It’s nice to actually get something done now that the phone isn’t announcing a crisis every hour. Thursday you decide to show your love with IM’s and something from the oven. Friday can be your lucky day as happy accidents brighten your outlook. Those serendipitous meetings or chance remarks put you on the trail of a wonderful idea. Check out that new website, too.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – Leos everywhere get closer to the spotlight Monday. A project looks as if it couldn’t be worth your time, but it will surprise you down the road. From Wednesday on, the week gets better and better. You’re asked for your opinion. You find the right words at the right time, and they reach receptive ears for once. Saturday you are full of energy to tackle anything.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Agnes deMille – Monday your professor or consultant sounds exasperated with you. Deflect the heat and catch the light. Tuesday you and a Gemini set off sparks, creative and otherwise. If the two parties can harness the energy, audiences will find it fascinating.  Friday is good for donating your services to a charitable organization or other shared effort.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Fayard Nicholas – Remember the dream sequence in “Oklahoma”? You may not be Agnes deMille but you could find some inspiration in a dream later this week. Dreams could solve that technical snag you’ve been puzzling over for weeks. For info on dream incubation and instructions, go to

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Savion Glover – Get caught up on details while you have the chance. Mid-week our creativity is used in adjusting, rewriting, redecorating and all those re- words. You luck onto something early Friday, and your eagle eye knows exactly what kind of luck you stumbled onto. Maybe it’s that rare coin in your change when buying yourself a latte.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Sammy Davis, Jr. – Pause to think deeply this week about the value of higher education, as you might decide to re-enroll in school or change majors. Where can you make a difference? That answer can pull you through many all-nighters preparing for a new career or calling.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Alvin Ailey – That party or trip to the ballpark scheduled for Sunday just won’t go smoothly. Friends will pout and sulk and we know how you hate that sort of thing. Neutralize things by drawing lots, or even better, reschedule for Friday.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mikhail Baryshnikov – You, too, may feel sparks fly early in the week with a very pleasant contact. Don’t bother arguing over money on Tuesday; that won’t get you anywhere at all. A mid-week movie with friends is just the thing to recharge your creative juices. You’re pumped up through Friday. Where do those ideas come from?

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Cyd Charisse – You feel the pressure early in the week to make a deadline. Doesn‘t matter if it‘s impossible to meet. You dug yourself into that hole, and now you’re facing overtime to catch up. Please repeat after me, I can do anything for fifteen minutes — and break down your task into un-intimidating chunks. You can even squeeze in time to read your old love letters over tea.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
