Fourth Week September 2007

Can I digress from astrology for a moment? Dr. Barbara Derrick is seeking participants in a promising non-pharmaceutical approach to treating victims of Alzheimer’s Disease. Anyone who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, or health care facilities that are interested in replicating the study conducted at Mattie C Hall Health Care Center, may contact the ABC Holistic Health Wellness Foundation. The address is 204 Trestlewood Dr., Summerville, SC, 29483-1824. You may call 757-457-7231 to order a copy of the report ‘Report of Suggestive Therapy’  or how to use the program in ‘Suggestive Therapy for the Relief of Alzheimer’s Disease.’
A brief description of the approach is given in the online July issue of the American Holistic Health Assn. at http://ahha.org/articles.asp?Id=116. In this article, author Dr. Barbara Derrick talks about its use with a widower named Wally who lived at home alone.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Serge Lifar – There’s a Full Moon in your sign on Wednesday pm. It will be good for the kick-off of efforts to express your Values, whether they are People Values, Artistic Values, or whatever. Perhaps you were inspired by the soaring voice of Mr. Pavarotti, who passed away earlier this month. His recordings were played frequently in tribute, and his voice will continue to inspire and uplift for decades to come. Perhaps some form of tribute will materialize. Your gifts can be just as eternal if you are dedicated to developing them.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Martha Graham – Your mind turns to delving beneath the surface Fri-Sat. This is favorable for research of all kinds – maybe you wind up poring thru archives of performances or their reviews. Also you might knock off work for one last pool party or just work off excess energy by doing laps. Do be careful of pool safety, of course, and quit before you get cramps, OK?

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Isadora Duncan – Wednesday is great for communications regarding athletic endeavors (dance included). The flip side could be very emotionally-charged words flying over the airwaves and cyberspace. So take care before responding so as not to escalate matters. Can I pass along an affirmation from Raymon Grace?:”May I always be in the right place at the right time to do as much good as possible.” Geminis buzz around so fast you are just about everywhere at once, so the odds are good you could be in exactly the right place where you are needed at just that moment.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Twyla Tharp – You start getting your batteries recharged just in time for the weekend. This opportunity will last till the end of the year — then a bit of a setback till early March of 2008 when you continue to progress till May. If you are not on a healthy regimen now, it is a great time to get into one. Consider going to a spa or retreat this fall to help get you excited about remodeling yourself.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – Pay attention to your mail and other communications. That grant is up for grabs altho you may have to follow up, or rescue your proposal from the dead-letter box. Send out a follow-up letter or phone call. Financial restraint is the word for the next 2-3 years, even if cash flow is improving. So make a plan and call on an advisor for recommendations. Leos like to make a splash with big purchases, but please, we’d love it if you just came to dinner.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Agnes deMille – This is a good period to launch your health-wise website, blog, or radio programming. You’re self-discipline applies to managing your time and keeping everyone happy at home, too. Personal exposure also helps promote your services. People like to put a face to a voice or webpage, so do those promotional gigs and interviews. My only caveat is that your attention to detail can be obsessive; farm out what you can to trusted pros.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Juliet Prowse – This is a good Autumn for you. You probably always like Fall, because you just feel more like yourself, but this half of the month gives a rare opportunity to communicate the arts with great impact. You can showcase performers, music and writing and achieve a real synergy of talent. Perhaps a friend has a vineyard or other scenic vista you can visit on weekends for a photographic or painting series.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Savion Glover – Some money sectors are activated Sept-Oct. I hope you have not been caught up in the realty downturn, and are able to keep up with mortgage/debts. If you do get a notice from your banker, be proactive because there is help available; you may have to dig for it. And if you are in a comfortable position, the opportunities are there for scooping up good properties. Performance artists are entering a very favorable period for vibrant interpretations of works, especially of new, foreign, or avant garde pieces.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Sammy Davis, Jr. – Did you ever have a ‘challenge piece’? Something that you took on just to see if you could sell it at the flea market or wherever? I think you have a challenge piece this week, which may work out in a surprising way. Maybe you can list it on Craig’s List. In career matters, you find yourself working much harder. Longer hours and picky details will drive you crazy, but what can you do? Make hay while the sun shines…

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Debbie Allen – Business dealings related to communications are accented now. Sales of dance or other arts tickets is good, but check records for errors. Funds can slip away in computer glitches. Head off big problems while they’re small; seek feedback from employees and suppliers to smooth out bottlenecks. Tensions are high with partners over career. It could be that your wonderful spouse is worried about your mistress Work; make time for loved ones.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Ruth St. Denis – You’re one of the spokes of the wheel in a creative team. Enjoy having the opportunity to express and develop your talents. Public approval is soon forthcoming. The only item to mar the picture is you still need financial discipline. Find a program to invest modest amounts on a regular basis for your long-term best interests.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Rudolf Nureyev – The early part of the week can be fairly serious. You feel more like watching a documentary Monday rather than a comedy. Or you take work home with you. Tuesday brings a momentary panic over whether you have enough in the checking account for expenses, or enough food in the pantry for surprise visitors. You’ll improvise – you always find a way around temporary snafus.

Third Week September 2007

The months ahead finds lots of us obsessing on the idea of perfection. “Oh, I had things so perfect (or so close to perfect) and then X had to happen.” What we will find is that perfection is an illusion, along with happiness or success. We thought that the word described a condition, rather than a process. Spin the kaleidoscope and see how each view is just as perfect as the next. So is our life — each month or year is totally perfect in the sense that it brings us closer to our best self. Free instructions on taking digital photos of a kaleidoscope at http://kaleidoscopeheaven.org/he00005.htm
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Sergei Diaghilev – You hate to admit you may have bitten off more than you can chew this month. The demands on your time and energies are pretty severe, but you decide to just dig in and hang tough for now. Don’t ignore your needs for petty things like food now and then, or a few hours’ sleep. You’ll get a lot more done in the end. Also private counsel with a legal rep can prove very helpful.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Audrey Hepburn – A tremendously energizing period for Taurus rising, especially, this month. Lots of creative ideas early in the week; keeping a schedule or log helps you keep track of them before inspiration is lost. Just be careful about running up debt, especially for insurance. Don’t buy more than you need. Am tempted to suggest hiding the credit cards from yourself, but your feet are too firmly on the ground to get carried away, aren’t they?

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Henry LeTang – Focusing your energies may feel strange to you, accustomed as you are to juggling ten things at once. But remember that trick with a magnifying lens igniting a fire? No, I don’t mean for you to go out setting fires! I’m saying that you could leave us all in the dust if you concentrated on just one (OK maybe two) things this week.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Bob Fosse – Financial pressures finally ease off, and cash flow looks much better. The money’s more fun, too, because it comes from something that means more to you than just a job. If I have any caution for you at all, it is to avoid spending it as fast as you make it, and also any excesses that may affect your health. Double-check that you don’t pay for something the insurance should cover.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Leonide Massine – Monday pm is good for effectively communicating your values or esthetic sense. Make your presentations that day, and go all out with multi-media and samples. Friday late is awful for budgeting or anything too practical, as you will always rationalize any excuse to go over budget. Don’t fall in love with a color scheme for example, till you run it by the costume designer or set decorator. A wealth of options present themselves, and you hate having to pick just one.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Gene Kelly – Monday finds you untypically digging in your heels on a point of contention. Please, step back for a moment. Are you arguing just to be right or to better serve the customer? Do a quick engine search to see if there is some info tidbit you’ve all overlooked, which changes everything. Try to see the forest rather than the trees. Also don’t get suckered into thinking losing some weight will make you perfect.
Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Arthur Duncan – Monday pm is good for shopping the sales, especially for beauty supplies. Tuesday be cautious in accepting anyone’s word for something; verify thru independent checking and avoid wishful thinking. On the other hand, it is a day better spent in musical or creative pursuits. Artistic success comes this week in vibrant performance in any medium.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Eleanor Powell – Scorpio rising, especially, enjoys playing with electronic or other unusual sounds and materials this week. Try to find sample sizes of paints, for example, to experiment with. You are also tempted to ruin the budget this month, so it is best to send others to shop with your list. Otherwise you’ll buy six when you only needed one!

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Hermes Pan – The week is one long tussle, but you’ll find that the more you learn about the issues, the better you’re able to adapt to new realities. Otherwise your competition will use you for mopping floors! Darwin said those who survived were not the strongest or smartest, just the most adaptable. So make like a chameleon and adapt.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Moira Shearer – The staff looks to you to keep a cool head, especially later in the week. You may deal with signing off on new office guidelines, which means delivering bad news to some. They’ll get over it if they see that the new rules are applied fairly. A harmonious duet gets the weekend off to a harmonious start with your spouse or other partner.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Gregory Hines – Those struggling to maintain their energy levels and avoid injuries may benefit from gentle disciplines like yoga or tai chi. A strong teacher can give you a lifetime skill that is a lifeline to you. Daily practice, like the raindrops wearing down a stone, produce unbelievable results.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Cyd Charisse – Stop the world, you want to get off! You’re not used to so much tug-of-war with you as the rope. After hours becomes your favorite time of day, because you are quite good at leaving the job behind. Your partner or significant other inherits the reins, and all in all, I think you prefer it that way.

Second Week September 2007

A new chapter in your life begins. Love and Passion request an introduction to each other in your life’s work. Without their combined energies, work has become a dull grind. Something clicks inside – you’re inspired again. Plato called it one’s daimon. It was and is the urge to transcend mere physical existence. The burgeoning shoots of this new force heave up the asphalt and concrete. Believe it or not, some will be upset at this! But dig out a space for it to grow, throw some water on it. This inconvenient weed is really a baby oak, and one day you will have forgotten there was once a sidewalk in its place.
PS – A solar eclipse will be visible in the Americas and Polynesia on the 11th. Don’t count on your work getting done, as people will be checking it out.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Buddy Ebsen – You just may be the big winner this week. Lady Luck smiles on those who have served Art loyally and in truth. You always detested pretense and anything that tempted you to sell out, am I right? So even if that grant falls thru, you find larger support in local and national platforms. Your gamble pays off in media-coverage spades.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Shirley MacLaine – You get to play the role of Earth Mother to the hilt. You find a surprising thrill in delivering donations or a nice check to local shelters, or being a ombudsman-type who resolves consumer issues. Write a letter to the editor. Make this your “make a difference day” all week.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Bill “Bojangles” Robinson – You can either feel pulled in four different directions this week — or be the one pulling. You are one of the best adapters out there, so it is easier for you to figure out how to adjust to changing markets, etc. You pull people together to hammer out a plan. It may take at least a week to iron out details, but it can be done.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Rasta Thomas – Midweek gives you an opportunity to explore internet media. A whole new world of news that is ignored by TV networks opens up for you. Maybe you decide to write a column on your experiences (or those of someone close to you) in the realty market crash. It doesn’t matter whether you are a broker, seller or buyer. I think lots of us would find it engrossing to hear how someone got caught in a twist of history.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – Whatever course you decided on last week can start bearing fruit in as little as a month. The short term is very trying, tho. Pesky money issues threaten to derail everything. I think your new and current projects will survive scrutiny and get the funding somehow.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mitzi Gaynor – Virgos might have a trying week, especially on Tuesday. Virgos make a virtue out of work, but really, too much is just too much. Get your rest, as fatigue leads to mental errors and falls. Discrimination in all things is the keyword now, so double-check everything and read those labels. Home and trips to the movies can be a refuge.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Fayard Nicholas – Thursday is the best day of the week for you. Words and feelings merge easily into diplomacy, art, or technology. In fact you can forge ahead on any project thru the weekend, and make your own luck. This very productive surge is especially marked if you are working with unusual materials or avant-garde concepts.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Savion Glover – Sun.-Tues. can be eaten up by charitable or service group activities. Try to bridge factionalism by getting the parties to focus on common cause. Friday night finds you in a somber mood, more suited to watching a documentary than attending a pool party. Saturday is a free day; check off those errands and chores without worrying about pesky interruptions.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Merrill Ashley – You, Gemini, Virgo and Pisces all have a challenging week. Some things may be beyond your control, and these upsets may take weeks to resolve. But you are all able to roll with the punches. Darwin said those who survive are the most adaptable, not the strongest. A consultant may have painful adaptations to suggest for you, but you want to survive, hey?

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Alvin Ailey – You are never one to stand on the sidelines when something needs to be done, and done fast. Someone has to make the executive decisions, and assign duties. That is where you come in. You’re the one who keeps his feet on the ground, determines the list of priorities and inspires confidence. Those on-call consultants get the call now.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mikhail Baryshnikov – You’ve been drawing inspiration from the well this week – this summer, really – and funneling it into some extraordinary creativity. The international element is activated, too. Possibly a foreign tour is in the works, or merely experimenting with foreign supplies or techniques.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Tommy Tune – You and your Gemini, Virgo, and Sag friends are all getting the test this fall. This seems so unfair! Classes have only begun, and you have an exam right off the bat? It’s only a test in the game of life, and not to worry, you get to take it over again every couple of years.

First Week September 2007

Many of you get wake-up calls about following your true calling in life. Those who answer that call, find the doors opening up to them. And those that don’t – well, doors keep closing. We all see the headlines about outsourced jobs, and I don’t want to get negative here. But investing in yourself and plugging away at your own sideline seems like the best bet. That sideline may or may not be a paid job, but it is the thing that you do best.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Buddy Ebsen – You’re always a perpetual motion machine, but you often run so far ahead of the pack you look like a solo act. Saturday you finally get some teammates. The other pieces of the puzzle begin to fall into place, and allies come around to your way of thinking. Possible teammates: one financial backer, one woman. Don’t sign contracts till everyone is sure you can all see the project through.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Shirley MacLaine – That thorn in the side eases off this month. You can take a short breather, then midweek the calls and letters start piling up again. One reason people like dealing with you is that you give each person your full attention and make them feel it was no trouble at all. Creativity’s your middle name; maybe a class in creative writing is in the cards now. You can describe things in vivid sense impressions that jump off the page.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Bill “Bojangles” Robinson – Monday night favors face time with good friend or your significant other. Short meetings are often more productive than those that drag out, so don’t monopolize your friend’s time. Just have a coffee, and bounce your ideas off each other. Tuesday is tricky: emotions can run high in the morning and self-delusion too easy in the afternoon. A good week to try dream incubation. Go to dreams.ca for instructions. Link is here at http://www.dreams.ca/incubation.htm.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Bob Fosse – Remember being in school and shuffling from one class to another? Look back at that schedule now and be amazed at how much material you covered just by breaking it down to one hour per day. Now try to see if there is anything you could apply that approach to. See anything? (We all do.) Wednesday looks good for making a schedule for yourself. You’re unstoppable!

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – An accidental meeting Tuesday morning starts a creative spark. You two have much to talk about and enjoy trading ideas. It is possible the new acquaintance becomes a partner in your artistic venture. This weekend marks a turning point in your life. Journeymen in all fields get that make-or-break opportunity.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mitzi Gaynor – You have long been aware of the value of moderation. This week you decide to review your habits. Read the food labels. Look for articles on recent health and nutrition studies, local classes, and more. Update those favorite but unexciting recipes with modern flavor (and less sugar). Others may ask you to share information with their group. It may be so much fun you decide to start a web page or recipe blog.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Fayard Nicholas – The phone starts ringing off the hook again. Everyone’s asking for you this month. They want your unique touch on their hairstyle or office decor. Expect more messages, meetings and speaking engagements. Presentation is everything, and you know how to create beautiful dynamic balance.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Savion Glover – Wednesday and Thursday are good for revamping your schedule so that it meshes better with everyone in the office. You can coordinate your efforts so there’s less wasted time and motion. This doesn’t mean cracking down on breaks, it just means carving up the days so that efforts are more focused on meeting loads. This may mean a quiet hour, when calls are held so the team can push to meet deadlines.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Alexander Godunov – Monday brings an urge to overdo. Sag often buys things in multiples. Now this is OK for soap and socks, but that shirt in every color? Do yourself a favor and hide the plastic from yourself. Satisfy that big-dream energy in detailing the project you have. Some stars may choose to retire or reinvent themselves in a second career. It’s that kind of a week.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Alvin Ailey – Consider bringing in a consultant or attending a seminar for a fresh viewpoint. Customers don’t grow on trees, but they often grow online. Get ideas on customer care and making your webpage more user-friendly. Sometimes the way to make your job more efficient is to cater to the ten percent who provide eighty percent of your business.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mikhail Baryshnikov – The weekend is good for both dance and incorporating your ideal into your actions. Are you a robber baron or a “Zentrepreneur”? Are your employees just well-trained hired hands, or are their talents encouraged to blossom? Do you hire exactly what you need, or do you “grow your own” top producers?

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Rudolf Nureyev – Make safety first early in the week. It never hurts to start the week with an overview of those little repairs that need doing. Make it a point to have a Plan B in place in case that grant falls through, or the roof needs repairs. By the end of the year you will find yourself having to work around restrictions of one kind or another. Fortunately you are a flexible person, and like improvisation.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
