Fourth Week November 2007

The real challenge is balancing what you WANT with what you NEED. Those who are tempted to buy everything they WANT will surely face a mountain of debt in January. Instead, think about sharing what you know. Offer to trade lessons in computer skills for lessons in knitting or horseback riding. Or trade what you have made, like jams or wine, for help balancing your books. Simplicity and sharing are going to be big keywords this Christmas.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Ann Miller – Your money house is active, very active. It’s like you are now harvesting all your efforts made over the past several months, and converting it all into cash. An example is if you spent the summer producing something that’s popular around the holidays, so now your inventory is flying off the shelf. I think you will do well, and donating a unit to the fundraiser auction just gives you more visibility.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Helen Tamiris – You find a moment to spend on yourself, and it will be time & money well spent. A new hairdo makes you look more polished. Even better is a new health routine that makes you feel beautiful both inside and out. Learning to tap or bellying up to the barre do wonders for you. In the parenting department, sometimes you have to be the meanie and tell the kids ‘no.’ You have to be the grownup and limit their sweets. Best gift option: lessons that increase their competency and confidence.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Isadora Duncan – Your artwork becomes more beautiful to look at – maybe your palette shifts toward art tints. This will bring compliments at your next showing. You also enjoy holiday times with the children, especially. Activities like making cookies together to attending mini-concerts to going caroling is fun, since you’re still a kid a heart, anyway. Chaperoning a class visit to carol for the seniors at a nursing home brings a rare joy.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 -Rasta Thomas – Mon. & Tues. are your best days this month. You feel good but probably a bit lazy. A burst of energy in the early am Tues. soon fizzles out, tho, and you would be better off checking with others before running off on a tangent. Midday Tues. is good for messages and a chat over brunch with a best friend. Working with the food bank or church on holiday projects gives you a bigger outlet for your talents. You’re a natural organizer and you have a big, big heart.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – The 28th and 29th are great days for you. You get some time in the spotlight, and feel a touch of glamour being in the public eye. Maybe you act as a spokesperson for the tour and drum up a bit of good press. Just make sure you have some note cards with the pertinent facts so you don’t mis-speak, and give credit to others in the cast, too. PS – Old grudges fade away in the onrush of holiday feeling — Leo is magnanimous, so giving of yourself is a snap for you.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Lola Falana – The Spirit of the season is very personal and very sacred, whether you are allied with a formal church or not. Making the world a better place is a year-round task for you, and more power to you. You ‘do up’ your home in a big way this year, and I get this vibe that you have a guest, too. Your home has an international flavor – maybe you’re even hosting a foreign exchange student. How exciting it is to share traditions!

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Arthur Duncan – Concentrate on creative pursuits this week. Your muse speaks very clearly, altho to be sure, it doesn’t send any postcards. But spend your time in the studio, take your camera or easel everywhere, and keep your artist’s eye peeled for moments in time. You may meet a financial advisor this week, too. Check out credentials and references, of course, and insist on someone who believes in diversified investments – not all in one fund.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Savion Glover – Your own voice comes through the static loud and clear, now that you’ve finally figured out who you are. People start to look to you for common-sense leadership in the use of pooled resources (like insurance, mutual funds, etc.). In the creative field you find real enjoyment in box office, management or broker roles. Maybe you can negotiate common ground in union disputes so everyone can have a great theatre season this fall.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Hermes Pan – You feel caught between personal needs and the desire to share resources with charitable or arts organizations. You can do both, you know. Collect for the local arts drive, get your company to buy a block of ballet tickets. Your home is the best place for family get-togethers this week. Kick back and relax, let the kids decorate cookies while you sip cocoa ‘round the fireplace.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – George Balanchine – You decide to send all your Christmas greetings electronically this year. The e-cards get better every year, and trees are spared. Or send the family newsletter as an email this year, complete with smileys. You’re working hard and maybe even got a raise, but you scratch your head over where the money’s going. Try to find an advisor to find the leaks in the budget. Your hobby could grow into a second income, so go ahead and get all the knowledge you need to do it right.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Ruth St. Denis – Follow your intuition. Socialize at large events, draw out the wallflowers, compliment those you feel need a bit of encouragement. Your conviction that everyone has something to contribute really needs to be heard among those who think that the elite know best. Do watch out for your health, and don’t eat when angry. Some foods could be irritating your system; try eliminating prepared foods in favor of fresh.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Marius Petipa – Brush up on the terms ‘phishing’ and ‘pharming.’ Step away from the computer this holiday shopping season. You are too tempted to get it all done in one weekend and don’t realize that someone is stealing your info. I myself was tempted by a popup that had copied my bank’s logo and everything. Be the smart one this year, make your own presents using your own unique talents and a few supplies from the craft store. And you ARE very talented.

Third Week November 2007

One of the big influences this week is a real man-woman tension/attraction dynamic. Sparks can fly when introduced to new faces. That does not mean that all goes smoothly, relationship-wise. One party may still be licking his or her wounds from the last breakup, or may lose phone numbers, etc. But keep in touch with mutual friends because you will hit the right timing later.
Those at group meetings on Monday night hear a call to action. Organizers have little trouble getting volunteers for grass-roots efforts. Wednesday is good for announcements of new inventions and other innovations.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Serge Lifar – On Tuesday, you get lots done without interruptions. Wednesday morn your spouse has some other ideas for the agenda, which may involve dragging you along to a group you see as fuzzy-headed practitioners of escapism. Not your cup of tea at all; you can either earn ‘good spouse’ points or find an excuse not to go. A weekend trip to the lake recharges your batteries. Unattached Arians can fall for someone they meet at the bank.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Margot Fonteyn – Thurs. & Fri. are your best days this month. You could be in motion all week, buzzing around on errands and deliveries. Take time for a beautiful haircut mid-week; make sure to peek at a computer image of yourself with the new do before cutting. Settling in with a classic movie appeals to you Thurs. evening. Got popcorn? On Friday, be sure to attend the civic or club meeting; you’ll pick up juicy factoids and make great contacts.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Henry LeTang – Home feels confining. I see you chilling out at the movies a lot this week, and you’ll actually find some films you enjoy. Save a few bucks by borrowing DVDs from the library. Saturday is a Super Full Moon in your sign. Pressure to decide whether you are going to follow your unique life path, or just follow the crowd, is high. Learn from past lessons, and plot your course anew.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Twyla Tharp – Investigate local classes or opportunities to assist at your children’s school. Their training for teaching assistants may inspire you to get your own teaching certificate. You have a lot of skills to share with the next generation, and fostering children’s sense of competence and self-reliance are huge assets to building self-esteem. PS – Nothing stops you this week.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Leonide Massine- You’re not known as a homebody, but this week home is the best place for you to shine. It helps people to know where to find you, and your house is always open to anyone who wants to pay homage to you. You also may be involved in renovating the place in advance of the holidays; a bigger party room, or maybe a playroom for the kids, is high on your list of needs.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Thierry Sirou – Interesting developments in your speaking and consulting career. An interview or newspaper story puts you in the public eye, and the speaking calendar is pretty busy. Virgos usually prefer something on paper to keep track of appointments, so whatever works for you is fine. Home is still where your heart is, tho you may dream of a bigger house.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Fayard Nicholas – Your muse draws closer to you this week. If you work in the music field, possibly you swing toward jazz or global rhythms. If in photographic or graphic arts, more computerized, collage-type graphic techniques fascinate you. Old-fashioned painting with brush and oils or inks still does it for you in your off hours. Your home, and home studio, are sacred retreats where you recharge your batteries. PS – A VERY interesting someone enters your circle as a result of your career. Make sure to get his or her card.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Eleanor Powell – Action comes from calling up the community college or signing on for online classes. You’ll benefit from the mental stimulation, research opportunities, and new contacts. Also creative expression blossoms, and you find your own voice getting stronger. Make space for artistic work in your schedule. You can find an instructor who inspires as well as teaches.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Merrill Ashley – Your feelings bounce from home to career, career to home. It’s hard to juggle the two, because it seems like career demands that your family comes last. Spend quality time with your family instead of checking emails every 10 minutes. You could even take them camping instead of shopping, and the kids would learn life skills that no money can buy. You might be surprised at how much you enjoy camping, too.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Debbie Allen – It’s a very conflict-filled week. Not that people are at each others’ throats, but you have to get everyone focused on the goal and away from their little distractions. A lot of messages flying around, mostly very good news – altho its too early to celebrate a victory. Those of you in college make good progress toward your final degree; you fly thru term papers and exams.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Gregory Hines – Your energy is not what it should be? Consider getting a checkup to find out what the problem is. Make a food journal and note everything you eat. Are you feeling sluggish after sweets or junk? Make some changes, learn to make your own (healthier) treats, and look forward to active golden years. Aquarians are usually very health conscious, but darn can they ever have a sweet tooth.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Rudolf Nureyev – You feel like kicking over the traces and making a run for it. But are you running toward something or just away from something? Your answer will determine whether your run is a step forward or back for you. A fight and tears are in store late Monday if you cannot accept self-discipline. I’m guessing this means you blow the family budget — stay out of malls!

Second Week November 2007

This week a bit of research can be started. The trail may lead you deeper than you expect, but anyway, you should have plenty of material for a presentation or proposal the following week. If you are looking for a raise or a renewal of a contract, your research on positive feedback will most likely pay off. In other news, many of you would do well to get major and minor projects done this week — this includes seasonal chores around the home, and even putting up holiday trim or hooks for hanging lights, etc.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Sergei Diaghilev – If you have had some nagging health questions, a good period for getting to the bottom of it presents itself late this week. Have confidence that a biopsy or lab test will yield answers, and go forward from there. Hope you don’t need anything more involved, but if so, I feel that it will go well. It may be that a visit with a nutritionist puts you on an organic diet to prevent any recurrence. Aries tends to eat on the run, which isn’t good over the long haul.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Fred Astaire – Playing earth mother is second nature. Now you get opportunities to attend or give talks on public health and organic whole foods (PS – do you heed your own advice?). Wednesday’s especially ‘active’ on this issue – meaning impassioned debates. At the community theatre, you play a scientist or doctor to good reviews. And getting someone to write your grant proposals brings quick results.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Bill “Bojangles” Robinson – Your new boss or doctor is a strong personality. This person will finger the immediate cause of your trouble. Just get it taken care of. Your home is also jumping with activity, especially Friday. If you have been trying to sell your home or make other changes, some progress should come through that day. It might mean moving in with someone. It might mean the installation of a home studio or theatre.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Bob Fosse – Cancerians especially will be frustrated by events beyond their control thru New Year’s. Running at top speed on your gerbil wheel, but the wheel still rolling backward? — take a break. A vacation to a lake or fishing spot, or just a new regime of swimming laps, will recharge your batteries more than anything. Make trips to art shows, take painting classes, press grapes for homemade wine, to get your creative juices flowing again.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Mata Hari – You’re still juggling a batch of offers for your talents. Your romantic interest influences how far you are willing to travel, even tho it means a sacrifice. And all that flattery being tossed your way? They’re just buttering you up so you’ll take a lower offer, but you know your value. Home seems to work best as a place to write, whether it’s just a personal journal or poetry.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Marge Champion – Your discipline is paying off in growing cash reserves; they’re possibly receipts from speaking or newsletter subscriptions arising from your higher profile as a natural foods advocate. Your own health will improve as you replace your diet with organic foods. Virgo is very sensitive to residues in common foods, which often trigger allergies.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Ben Vereen – Wednesday morn you feel so strongly about the sacredness of home. I hope you are not one of those caught in the housing loan crunch, but if you are, you will fight tooth and nail to keep your home. (Go online to the commerce department of your state, and search for “credit counseling” for a list of reputable counselors.) A new boss will mean positive changes at work; a raise with increased responsibilities lie down the road for you.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Eleanor Powell – You’re unusually talkative and expressive this month. By next week you could have an opportunity to be quoted in the media. You latch onto a key figure in your creative endeavors – an agent, an editor, a mentor – someone who helps you shape the final draft and find outlets for reviews and discussions. The bank account is probably growing, too, but diversify your holdings.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – June Taylor – Your dislike of limits, even if self-imposed, can lead to your downfall in whatever area of your life. There’s no-one to force you to put on the brakes, so you have to be the one to finally sit in the driver’s seat and face reality. Loose cannons make everyone nervous. Maturity is looking the mirror and seeing yourself as you really are. Wisdom is finding the courage to change.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Moira Shearer – Tues-Wed are your best days this month, or at least the most intense. That may not be good if you burst out with something Wed. morn about something really minor. Talk things out if something bugs you, and defuse the irritants before they build up to a boiling point. It IS fun to make up later, tho, isn’t it?

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Mikhail Baryshnikov – Creative writing is accented now. Deadlines may be hairy, but the pressure forces you to get something down on paper. Then polish it into the work of art that you are capable of. Make time to stoke the home fires or your spouse will feel neglected. Friday night is another dream incubation night…I’m sure you know the website for that by now.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Cyd Charisse – Pisceans who are involved in advocacy, law, or mentoring gain a higher profile this week. Feeding information to the local press or to internet venues gives a real boost to your social reform goals. It can even be fun, with presentations of new documentary films or theatrical playlets that illustrate the problem. Invite the press and offer a Q & A session afterwards.

First Week November 2007

Actually the first two weeks of the month are a good time to get some Christmas shopping out of the way early. Not that you splurge on big-ticket items like ski trips or anything like that. But it is possible for savvy shoppers to snap up discounted goods now and stash them away. I think the public will find it hard to find the energy to do holiday activities in December, whether due to an early flu bug – the uncertainty of the times – gas prices and fuel surcharges – but people will not want to dash all over town. That means more shopping online, and exchanging non-material gifts like personal service ‘coupons.’ Think about offering relatives lessons in something you do well.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.

Aries – March 20-April 19 – Buddy Ebsen – Pick your words carefully Monday if dealing with powerful entities – there is a chance to win them over but only if you do not alienate them first. Tuesday you find a congenial coworker or professional colleague – you two will have lots to talk about. You may be busier than ever in spokesperson duties.

Taurus – April 20-May 20 – Martha Graham – Food safety and children’s health issues are on your menu. You may be in the public eye as a spokesperson or interviewee. Be prepared, scout around on the internet for the story behind the story. In the creative area, formal training is favored now. You also tend to prefer classic works over new ones, so check around for repertory theatre schedules.

Gemini – May 21-June 20 – Isadora Duncan – Your expressive communications skills are highly polished this fall, especially if you deal with partnership issues in an artistic pursuit. Writing, speaking, and consulting should all be on your schedule, whether you are in the social services or in the creative writing field. A bit of social advocacy is called for, too. Guard your health and eat only organic, locally grown foods.

Cancer – June 21-July 22 – Gower Champion – Try to get your fall decorating done and finalize deals before mid-month. You especially will not feel like hosting the upcoming holiday feasts — tell your kids that it is their turn, and plan to put up your feet this once. Offer your secret family recipes now so that they can recreate the same favorite foods.

Leo – July 23-Aug. 22 – Leonide Massine – Around the 4th you are feeling strong and ready to tackle big jobs. You’re awfully tempted to dip into the contingency fund for art materials or new performance space. If this is a renovation, the grand reopening will bring raves.

Virgo – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Agnes deMille – You arrive at work Monday with an energy high from the weekend. Messages can force you to reschedule your week, so make sure your backup plans are in order. Thursday is better than Tuesday for scheduling a conference with your mortgage lender. Those with careers in the creative arts will find what they need in terms of a concrete services, such as lighting services. Make sure the equipment is confirmed before signing a contract.

Libra – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Michael Smuin – On Tuesday afternoon, resist the urge to rush through something just to finish by 5 pm, because you will probably have to backtrack. How come there’s never enough time to do it right, but always enough time to do it over? Wednesday is better, when you get a vote of confidence. From Thursday to Dec. 4, your graceful beauty gets a boost. Don’t be surprised by compliments for a new hairdo or even that fave old sweater.

Scorpio – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Savion Glover – Wed. is a very creative and expressive day if working with electronic or broadcast media. Fri.- Sat. are your best days this month, and most things go thru without interference or interruptions. An organization  may give you a little pat on the back Thursday evening. Friday is very active and productive. Saturday I think the lazy mood will strike, and you can easily sit on your patio or boat and soak up some rays.

Sagittarius – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Alexander Godunov – Sat. evening thru Mon. the 12th are your best days of the month. Sat.- favors pleasure outings with friends, possibly at a gallery or concert. I really hope you don’t spend the whole Sunday on work you’ve brought home. That evening, you are ready for a real change of pace – the more unusual a suggestion is, the more you’ll like it. Monday afternoon, you introduce a friend to a neighbor who have synergistic ideas; something big is sure to come of it.

Capricorn – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Alvin Ailey – Some shrewd advice may come from a lawyer or advocate who is a sibling or neighbor. Be willing to use this person as a sounding board regarding workplace issues. Some decisions are best delayed – Really! Tensions with a partner will ease if you give yourself a chance to talk things out. You look into having a home studio, or a rented loft, that you can use for sculpting or teaching.

Aquarius – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – Ruth St. Denis – Money luck for you this week, possibly thru some consulting work you’re doing. Friday is especially favored. Your career’s about to catch the wind, even if the boss does think you’re a bit unusual. If you have any nagging muscle pains, etc., you could find an effective treatment already. Look into hydrotherapy, swimming, or any form of exercise that doesn’t stress your joints.

Pisces – Feb. 18-March 19 – Tommy Tune – An advocate can give you some eye-opening advice this month. Your spouse’s free advice is ignored, but if the same words come from a professional, you are all ears. This advice is something you really need to take to heart, and believe me, it will pay off big if you get your act together. An accidental discovery leads you to experiment with warmer colors. That look may not be right for a current project, but make notes for future reference.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
