The New Moon on Jan. 26 is a solar eclipse. This is at 6 degrees Aquarius, at 2:56 am EST, conjunct Jupiter at almost 5 degrees Aquarius plus the North Node at 9 degrees Aquarius. It will also be the Chinese New Year (4707) of the Ox. Traditional Chinese set out food and drink to bribe the kitchen god so they will have a fortunate year.
The eclipse opposes the eclipse point of August 1, 2008 – so if you can remember what issue was being dealt with then, you can expect another edition of the same (only different). Maybe legal matters begun then will resolve, or an agreement made then will have to be reworked. The Sun and Jupiter are square to the asteroid Vesta; Vesta rules home and hearth, security concerns, service and service groups, personal sacrifices. Take a clue from whatever house Vesta occupies (at 4 degrees Taurus).
Here is the basic data about each of the president’s birth dates and some notes on transits on election day or during the year they ran. In some cases I have made other notes about notable events or trivia but had to keep this short.
GEORGE WASHINGTON – Feb. 22, 1732, 10 am LMT in Wakefield, VA. Birth recorded in family Bible. Inauguration April 30, 1789 when Saturn transiting his eleventh house, not a traditional indicator of high office. Second Saturn return marked by moving the national capitol from New York to a swamp called the District of Columbia. Elected to second term in 1792.
The day that has seemed inevitable since summer is finally upon us. President-elect Barack Obama will take the oath of office on January 20 as prescribed in the Constitution. Actually the original document set March 4 as the inauguration day, but us modern hurry-up types moved it forward. Looking back, it would be more favorable to have the date in March, when the Sun would trine the election Sun.
I was not going to write an article on the inauguration, but a fellow astrologer emailed me all aflutter because the chart featured a Mercury retrograde plus a void-of-course Moon. To me, Mercury retrograde signifies trying to undo all the destructive acts and executive orders of the previous occupant of the White House (who shall not be named here). Perhaps we can look forward to this former law professor, Obama, restoring much of the integrity of the original Constitution. As for the Moon being voc, I started one of my better jobs under that aspect, and had to learn to ignore it as one year after aociated with the entrance of the Sun into Aries on thenother rolled by.
Venus conjoins Uranus, and the Sun joins Jupiter. The year is off to a brighter start than you might expect. Enjoy simple times with friends and family, work on fulfilling arts or crafts, borrow a comedy film from the library, and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
The Sun enters Aquarius Monday, the sign of the United States’ natal Moon. It is perhaps fitting that the inauguration will be this week, as the presidency represents all Americans’ hopes and wishes, and the president embodies the public’s feelings about the country. I have written a brief treatment of the Obama inauguration chart as a separate article, so do look for it.
While the stock market may be without direction for a few months yet, the Venus cycle indicates another bull market should start about April sometime and last till at least the end of the year. Until then, I think that Wall Street will be in a wait-and-see mode in regards to the new president.
Hope you enjoyed the perigee Full Moon on Jan. 10! NASA has a story about the Perigee here at http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/08jan_bigmoon2009.htm Enjoy.
Yech, Mercury goes retrograde again on Sun., Jan. 11 at 11:43 am Eastern at almost 7 degrees Aquarius. It will re-enter Capricorn on Jan. 20, just after conjuncting the Sun in Aquarius that morning. Other milestones include a Sun-Jupiter conjunction on Jan. 24, Mercury going direct on Feb. 1 at 21 Capricorn, and a Mercury-Jupiter conjunction on Feb. 24. The Jupiter conjunctions are generally promising if you are looking to sell your product or service, tho when Merc is retrograde you will likely have to mark down the price to move it.
Mercury retrograde in Aquarius can lead one to speak too much in the abstract and forget to include sensitivity to the real emotional needs of the audience. Mercury retrograde in Capricorn can make one try to set oneself up as an authority, assuming an authoritarian attitude, and a resulting alienation and loss of credibility.
Jupiter enters Aquarius on Monday morning. Humanitarian and philanthropic causes advance under this placement. Perhaps one result of the Madoff scheme is that the foundations hurt by the fallout will find more donors and volunteers than ever. Aquarius is also rules technology, so gadgets may sell like hotcakes tho the price (and company profits) may not necessarily follow suit. Jupiter’s first aspect is a square to the Moon in Taurus; possibly Taureans will have to face up to problems in the home or with issues of pride (or lack of pride) in their home.
FULL MOON on Jan. 10 at 21 degrees Cancer: Moon opposes the Sun but trines Uranus and sextiles Saturn. This Full Moon may open a way for many of us to reconcile the opposition between Uranus and Saturn with this trine/sextile from the lights to the opposing planets. This is actually very heartening. Spend a few minutes Sat. evening lighting a candle for, and meditating on reconciliation, harmony, orderly change, supporting one’s family, and-or governing one’s impulses.
