Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 1-7
By Milky Way Maid
Happy Groundhog Day, Feb. 2nd! This weather-forecasting day comes halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring (Vernal) Equinox, so farmers needed to know how soon they might be able to work in their fields. It is also the beginning of lambing season in some areas, that is why the traditional (pagan) name for this day is Imbolc, pronounced im-ilk, I.e. “in milk” when the pregnant ewes start to give milk. You can read an excellent history of this day at — http://minnieapolis.newsvine.com/_news/2009/01/26/2356714-february-traditions-origins-of-groundhog-day-
Three astrological events happen this week so hold onto your hats: Mercury goes direct at 21 degrees Capricorn early Sunday, (I hear you breathing a sigh of relief out there), Venus enters Aries at 10:41 pm Eastern Time on Groundhog Day, and Mars enters Aquarius at 10:55 am Eastern Time on Wednesday. Perhaps some info came to light while Mercury was retrograde, and now you can apply your values (Venus) and energies (Mars) to making your plans become a reality. Mars and Venus have been in a loose sextile for awhile, and they enter sextile signs within days of each other, so this bodes well for a better spring on Wall Street and traders finding value for their money. I don’t think the Venus cycle really goes into ‘buy’ mode till April tho.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop.
ARIES – March 20-April 19 – Venus enters your sign on Monday night. Venus in Aries is especially good for hairdressers and beauticians, in a natal chart. Transiting Venus here favors going to beauty parlors, sure, and also getting a makeover. Natives of this sign usually cannot be bothered with moussing etc. so express your desire for an easy-care cut. Arians often look great in any shade of red. You may discover a new passion Thursday evening so get out and mix, go to shows or galleries or other events. Mars entering your solar eleventh house can bring new men friends, or joining a sports group or club. Mercury direct in your solar tenth house of career can straighten out some snags at work; business inquiries might pick up altho don’t take that to the bank just on my say-so.
TAURUS – April 20-May 20 – The Moon is in Taurus from Sunday afternoon till Tuesday mid-morning. Sunday night the Moon trines Pluto, which favors research and delving into mysteries of every kind. This research might be related to a college paper, because Pluto is your solar ninth house. On Monday evening, the Moon squares the Sun, not a good day for interpersonal relationships as everything is likely to irritate or upset you. Remind yourself not to take everything personally and silently hum a little song to yourself. Tuesday morn the Moon trines Saturn AND Mercury when your discipline gets a ton of work done. Avoid too many carbs at the morning break. A Moon trine to Mars in the early evening gives you another boost so you can cross another item off the to-do list.
GEMINI – May 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini from mid-morning Tuesday till Thursday evening. Tuesday evening features a sextile to Venus; spend time with a dear friend. Later that night some info you’ve uncovered could change how you invest or manage finances. A trine to Jupiter on Wed. morning puts you in a good mood and may bring good news re college plans (or other ninth house items). Wed. night is also favored for date night, due to the trine to the Sun. Interpersonal relations go much more smoothly and you easily share your enthusiasms with others. Enjoy it while you can because Thursday will be a bit trying at home and work, and machinery may not cooperate with your agenda for the day. Cie la vie, as they say.
CANCER – June 21-July 22 – The Moon is in Cancer from Thursday evening till Saturday evening. Thursday night can be a night for adjusting personal relationships and expectations. It could also be a good time to work on creative projects; get your feelings on paper or canvas. Try to avoid spending too much on Friday morning; instead put up some early Valentine decorations to cheer yourself. A hair trim might do you good, too. You get chores done early Saturday so you can have fun all day; possibilities include playing on the computer, reading a comedy or travel book, hosting an exchange student or going to a seminar.
LEO – July 23-Aug. 22 – Unmarried Leos may meet an interesting, energetic young person as Mars enters your opposite sign this week. Married Leos may find their spouses need their energies channeled into something constructive or they could turn into frustrated, nagging, argumentative dorks. Break the cabin fever with a beautification project (painting, decorating a piece of furniture, crafts) as you utilize the sextile to Venus entering Aries.
VIRGO – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mars the planet of physical health and energy, enters your solar sixth house of health. This can be a clarion call to get cracking on a program of exercise or address nagging health issues. Virgo seems to prefer either walking, riding a bicycle (not a machine), or yoga rather than lifting weights or iron-man stuff. The sextile to Venus in your solar eighth is what I interpret as ‘recharging your batteries’, which is another way of looking at exercise or whatever activity you do for fun. Mercury direct in your solar fifth house of children should bring an improvement in your child’s school performance.
LIBRA – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – An attractive, charming person appears on your horizon; in other words, Venus enters Aries. Wait, that person might just be your own reflection, as you project your most appealing self to an adoring public. Interviewing might be one of your best skills (witness how Libran Johnny Carson made his guests comfortable talking about ANYTHING). Mars sextiles that Venus as it enters your solar fifth house of romance; this feels so trite writing this but a new love may walk into your life. OR, for those in the fine arts, your color palette may warm up with reds and oranges. Mercury direct in your solar fourth can clear up family communications and help you reach a home repair person.
SCORPIO – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – As Mars and Venus change signs they affect your solar houses four (home, family) and six (health, mundane jobs). Venus might make it too easy to put on weight, altho a woman practitioner could bring improved care and insights to keeping you healthy. Venus can also denote finding a nice, easy job, or a job where you work for tips (tips are Venus, too), or adopting a loving pet. Mars in your solar fourth can denote anything from decorating in warmer colors, the addition of a boy, family arguments, fire, events relating to the heating system or stove, etc. Be aware of safety at all times, and take a feng shui tip and hang a mirror over a fireplace.
SAGITTARIUS – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – Mars moving into your solar third house can denote a new male acquaintance or sibling, friction with a neighbors or siblings, active/sporty siblings, and competition. You may work out minor frictions with not-so-gentle afternoons of touch football or other games. Also competition may rear its ugly head in places that are not appropriate, and your craving for recognition need to be acknowledged and met. Venus in your fifth may mean the birth of a daughter, a new love interest, classes in crafts or art, music or art expression or attending concerts or recitals. Sounds like your calendar may fill up with interesting stuff.
CAPRICORN – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – Use care around midday Sunday; someone may rouse your anger or you could rush about and get yourself into an accident. Slow down and think things through. Students may seek you out for tips on researching their papers this week. Mercury going direct in your first house may make you more comfortable voicing your thoughts; you may move from preferring written expression to verbal forms. And words may tumble out so fast you have to start over. Venus moving into your fourth house can denote painting rooms in pastels, the addition of a female family member, harmony, hosting more social events. The entrance of Mars to your solar second house can signal taking on more debt, or arguments over money. Both can be problematic so seek counseling sooner rather than later.
AQUARIUS – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – A female family member may need your attention and counsel Monday. Mars enters your sign on Wednesday morning. This can be a plus if you seek to get into an exercise regimen, or a minus if you allow yourself to get drawn into arguments or irritations. Channel that new burst of energy into something constructive, because it can carry you through the year. Venus enters your solar third house of siblings and neighbors. Possibles: the addition of a female sibling, moving to an attractive neighborhood, more polite mail and email, more invitations and greeting cards.
PISCES – Feb. 18-March 19 – Venus entering your solar second house could bring some cash or gifts your way. Mars entering your solar twelfth house can mean injuries that are your own fault, so keep alert and turn lights on before going down steps. Mars can also mean arguments that do not affect you directly but rather the people around you, which is just as upsetting. You are also prone to overdoing things and taking on more risk than you can safely manage; stop and write out a Plan B, C and D so you are prepared for any eventuality.
