Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 2-8, 2009

July 29, 2009 at 4:52 pm

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun in Leo opposes the Moon in a Full Moon lunar eclipse on Wed., July 5, at 8:55 pm Eastern Time. This occurs at 13 degrees 43 minutes of Aquarius, so check your natal planet placements. This lunar eclipse emphasizes learning to be part of a team effort, not just hogging the spotlight for oneself. Make a point of giving credit to others who have contributed to a project. Aquarius also frees you from doing things the way have always been done, and this means detaching from belief systems that limited you. These beliefs may have come from religious, societal, or family traditions, but honor the past even as you sift through to find what is worth keeping.

Aquarius is also the humanitarian, so you might start your own fund-raising effort or choose vendors who contribute to causes you believe are important. Donate whatever time you can to volunteering at the local food bank or shelter (either human or animal).

The downside of Aquarius is group-think. Allow others the freedom to seek the truth as they see it.

Mercury enters Virgo, one of the signs it rules, on Sunday evening at 7:07 pm Eastern time. Its first aspect is a trine to Pluto in Capricorn on Monday morning, when you can work on releasing mental blocks. Pluto rules self-empowerment, among other things; when reversed or poorly aspected it can mean giving your power away. The downsides of Mercury in Virgo are perfectionism and self-criticism. Give yourself credit for making progress!

I am fascinated by Yods, and one forms on Wednesday with the Moon in Aquarius inconjunct both Mercury in Virgo on one side, and Venus in Cancer on the other side. This sounds very positive and artistic for writers in particular. Venus can denote the subject of the writing project, but that could cover anything from a cookbook (especially desserts) to romance to poetry to song lyrics. Of course there is always the chance that this aspect brings a meeting with a soon-to-be Significant Other; wear your better duds.

The Moon in Pisces squares Mars and opposes Saturn on Saturday. This can make you feel more downhearted than is warranted by the circumstances. Moon square Mars is often the ‘house afire’ syndrome, where you start off fast and burn out, or you rush into some task and wind up doing it over because something doesn’t fit. Saturn is finality, so you may wind up having to trash your wasted efforts. Trust me, pop some movies into the DVD player instead.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect.

ARIESMarch 20-April 19 – The lunar eclipse is in your solar eleventh house of friends and groups. This lunar eclipse gives you permission to dream of improving your station in life. In fact, it is probably essential that you do dream a dream of something better. I suspect it may have something to do with increased self-reliance, and that may entail a small farm to raise your own food, etc. At any rate, you will benefit from joining like-minded people in groups. The T-square on Saturday involves your solar third house of siblings, and there is the danger of getting drawn into an argument (Mars) with a sibling. Best to wait till the Moon changes signs to try to smooth things over.

TAURUSApril 20-May 20 – The T-square on Saturday evening between Saturn, Mars and the Moon affects your solar second, fifth, and eleventh houses. Skip the club meeting and gambling on sporting events. Instead, I suggest a short trip (third house) with a friend who is a go-to person in their field (Vesta therein) ; a seminar would fit the bill, and so would just a pleasure jaunt. The lunar eclipse is in your solar tenth house of career and reputation. Carrying out your profession with a high degree of integrity is imperative. Setting career goals will be on your to-do list.

GEMINIMay 21-June 20 – Mars in Gemini trines the Moon in Aquarius on Thursday morning; this airy trine merges feeling with action. Live your words. Later that day, the Moon conjoins the Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron stellium in the pm in your solar ninth house; you may enroll or graduate from training in an alternative or complementary health field. The T-square on Saturday between Mars in Gemini, Moon and Saturn can cause wasted efforts and materials; give it up and just watch a movie. The lunar eclipse is in your solar ninth house of law, religion, college, and publishing. Geminis, excuse me, tend to pick up info in a rather haphazard way, but now you may need to get a formal education in order to have that very important credential (diploma, law degree, etc.). You reach out for more information and more experiences; that could mean going back to school or it may mean travel.

CANCERJune 21-July 22 – Venus in your sign sextiles Mercury in Virgo and trines the Moon in Pisces Friday night; you can talk out differences with loved ones, and assure them you love them in spite of your differences. Maybe a piece of your world-famous pie will help, too. The lunar eclipse is in your solar eighth house; you venture into areas of joint responsibility and that may mean getting married or at least drawing up a pre-nup or equivalent contract. You may have to discuss matters of sex, child custody and powers of attorney.

LEOJuly 23-Aug. 22 – The Sun in Leo opposes the Moon in another Full Moon lunar eclipse on Wed., July 5, at 8:55 pm Eastern Time. This occurs at 13 degrees 43 minutes of Aquarius, so check your natal planet placements. On Saturday, the Moon in Pisces is inconjunct the Sun in Leo; you are normally very forthright in speaking your opinions, but today you are have trouble expressing yourself. Perhaps playing music or other creative outlets will help you. The lunar eclipse is in your solar seventh house, so the focus is on your close relationships. You are forced to realize the effect you have on others, fulfill your obligations to others, and accept the needs of others. It isn’t all about you, after all, tho we love ya to death.

VIRGOAug. 23-Sept. 22 – Mercury, your ruler, enters Virgo on Sunday afternoon at 4:07 pm Eastern Time. You may find yourself becoming more selective than usual, and make more trips to the library. Also see notes at top of column. On Tuesday night, the Moon is inconjunct Mercury; you may struggle to express your feelings in words. Perhaps the lines of a poem or song capture what you are feeling, and you can use that to open a discussion. You will be frustrated trying to get anything done on Saturday night so you may as well sit down to read; Saturn, Mars and the Moon are in a T-square and could cause wasted effort and materials. The lunar eclipse is in your solar sixth house, calling on you to improve your lifestyle for the sake of your health.

LIBRASept. 23-Oct. 22 – The lunar eclipse falls in your solar fifth house of children, games, gambling and speculation. You are asked to take life a bit less seriously and allow yourself to play. Stop worrying about whether you deserve whatever good fortune comes your way and just enjoy. The subtext is the need to learn to love yourself; if you have any mental blocks about that, I recommend going to Louise Hay’s website and looking for her “I Love Myself” affirmation. The T-square on Saturday involves the solar sixth and twelfth houses, so guard your health and be aware of safety issues. You don’t want an accident to become a protracted legal matter.

SCORPIOOct. 23-Nov. 21 – Wednesday’s Yod points to your solar tenth house of career; you may meet someone who is influential in the course of your career, or possibly incorporate a business. The lunar eclipse falls in your solar fourth house of home and family. You want to take care of others and share what you have, but allow others to nurture you as well. Being able to take as well as give hinges on your self-esteem; if you have issues there, this is a good time to begin a positive affirmation. You might try visiting Louise Hay’s website for a wealth of materials to choose from.

SAGITTARIUSNov. 22-Dec. 21 – The lunar eclipse falls in your solar third house of siblings and communications. The eclipse here is reminding you to keep things in circulation; don’t let things lie in storage because it creates stagnation. Perhaps you might join sharing clubs like Yahoo’s freecycle, or swap books and CDs on Information needs to be shared, too, and you might start a blog or even start giving lectures or seminars to share your accumulated savvy. The T-square involving all the other mutable signs on Saturday can exert its energy on you most of all. Pressures of spouse, work and family can build up to a climax. Think before speaking.

CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from early Sunday till Tuesday evening. The Moon is conjunct Pluto Sunday morning, and with the trine to Mercury on Monday, you can make progress in releasing mental blocks; see notes at top. You can be creative Sunday evening and may even enjoy being in the spotlight. A sextile from the Moon to Uranus on Tuesday morning can tickle your funny bone, or provide other kinds of happy surprises. The lunar eclipse is in your solar second house of money and resources; the keyword here is values. Repairing your value system will restore balance to your life.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from Tuesday evening till early Friday. An inconjunct from the Moon to Mercury in Virgo on Tuesday evening may help you with creative writing; the Moon figures prominently in writers’ birth charts, and Mercury in a sign it rules is strong and helps you ignore writers’ block. You may need to rearrange your writing corner to avoid distractions. Pluto squares Chiron early Thursday; you may benefit from alternative health practices; that may cover seeing a chiropractor or buying a book on aromatherapy. The lunar eclipse is in your solar first house; you deal with identity issues. You may held accountable for your behavior, or learn how to be comfortable with others.

PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces from early Friday till next Sunday afternoon. The Moon in Pisces sextiles Pluto Friday morn; tell yourself you are not going to repeat old, bad patterns anymore. Give yourself a new script to play, so to speak. The Moon opposes Mercury in Virgo Friday evening; you can benefit from talking it out with someone. A trine to Venus at the same time can help you express your love and caring for dear ones in spite of your differences. The Moon square Mars Saturday evening can make you rush to finish something without checking the specs; you will likely have to do it over again if you’re not careful. The lunar eclipse is in your solar twelfth house, asking you to take some ‘alone’ time to quiet your mind. A retreat or a seminar that focuses on removing blockages and stumbling blocks would do you good.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
