Your Milky Way Horoscope April 11-17, 2010

  By Milky Way Maid

There’s almost all Moon aspects this week, with almost none between any other planets. Hope this means a fairly quiet week for most of you, since I am pretty sure you can use the opportunity to catch up on routine stuff. Jupiter in Pisces trines Pallas in Scorpio Monday; victims may find an ombudsman-type (this includes lawyers but also social workers and spiritual advisors) to take up their case. Saturn inconjuncts Chiron in Aquarius all week; you may learn about an alternative healing therapy or begin an actual formal course of study of it. Sufferers of mystery ailments may find a local practitioner who sheds light on their condition; this may mean that you are forced to make some changes in your lifestyle but if you want to get better, follow through with it.

A New Moon at 24 degrees 27 minutes Aries occurs at 8:29 am Wednesday. Follow through on projects already begun, since Mercury is about to go retrograde and may undo any new stuff. This must be terribly frustrating for Aries, who is all about starting new things. The good thing about this Aries New Moon is that at least Saturn has backed away from pressuring the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn). On the other hand, the mutable signs are asked to tie up any loose ends from when Saturn left Virgo last fall, and that repeats the message of Mercury retrograde to go back to ‘edit’ and backup any recent changes.

Placing a chart for Washington DC for this New Moon puts Neptune right at the top of the chart in the tenth house. This does not bode well for the president or for the nation’s business affairs, although it strikes a hopeful and idealistic note in sympathy with (sextile) the Sun-Moon conjunction in the eleventh house. OK, it is good to be optimistic, but let us not deceive ourselves that everything is rosy.

Venus in Taurus sextiles Jupiter in Pisces late afternoon Saturday. In other words the lesser and greater benefics are really chummy this weekend; kittenish Venus cuddles up with her sugar daddy who spoils her rotten yet again. Bring on the champagne and cake.

Oh no, I hear you groan, Mercury goes retrograde again 12:06 am Sunday, April 18. It will be at 12 degrees 38 minutes of Taurus, closely trine the North Node and roughly square Mars in Leo. I am going to take my cue from the trine to the node, and hope to grow toward my better self. Perhaps some constructive debate can clear the air between you and loved ones (Mercury-Mars aspect). Let them explain themselves to improve understanding between you.

Ugh, I confess I really do not want to write the column this week. Maybe it is spring fever, or maybe I am just a lazy Taurus looking for any excuse. Excuse me if I am brief this week.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIESMarch 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries from 9:31 am Monday till Wednesday evening. The Moon squares Pluto-Ceres in Capricorn, which hardly favors planting anything in your spring garden. You might work the ground, though, and add missing elements or correct the Ph. Moon trines mars in Leo Monday night; time for a spirited pickup game of ball. There are no Moon aspects on Tuesday, a very unusual sight. Hope this allows you to follow your own priorities and get lots done. A New Moon at 24 degrees Aries occurs at 8:29 am Wednesday, so please read notes above about that.

TAURUSApril 20-May 20 – The Moon is in Taurus from 6:55 pm Wednesday till early Saturday. Moon square Mars in Leo Thursday morning makes for stubborn efforts that keep having to be redone; best to hire a pro to do it right the first time. Moon conjunct Mercury in Taurus Thursday evening favors memorizing a speech or a musical number. Moon conjunct Venus Friday morning may weaken your diet resolve, as you splurge on an extra Danish at the coffee shop. A Moon-Jupiter sextile mid-morning Friday will tend to make you overdo a lot of things, but at least you are in a good mood meantime. A square to Neptune late am can make you fuzzy-headed, so double-check the specs on a job or in an email to make sure you understand the request. That night you prefer to listen to classical music to relax.

GEMINIMay 21-June 20 – The Moon is in Gemini from about 2 am Saturday thru the weekend. The Moon is inconjunct Pluto midday Saturday; you resolve to take back control over something small that has annoyed you no end. The Moon-Mars sextile Saturday afternoon favors getting physical; go for a jog or swim, or attend sporting events with glee. Your ruling planet Mercury goes retrograde on Sunday, April 18. You probably dislike going back to check your work because you normally are so quick to do it the first time, but even if you do not find errors, you can benefit from seeing trends or spots where you are paying too much for a service.

CANCERJune 21-July 22 – The New Moon is in your solar tenth house of career, so I would expect some hopeful news regarding the work situation for the summer — that is, if you already have a job. If you are looking for work, this can be a time to check for openings at places that you have already applied, since they may have related positions opening up. Best days this week have Moon in compatible Taurus on Thurs-Fri. Enjoy a chat with a sympathetic friend Thursday afternoon. Have brunch with a lovely woman friend Friday.

LEOJuly 23-Aug. 22 – The New Moon in Aries trines Leo from the solar ninth house. Tie up classes and get your term papers done with, because the sooner you can get the work done, the earlier you can land your dream job. Alternatively, you may have legal or publishing matters to finish up. Hope you can get those things finalized before Mercury goes retrograde on the eighteenth and unravels everything. Best day this week is Wednesday when a Moon-Neptune sextile adds a touch of glamor to everything.

VIRGOAug. 23-Sept. 22 – Venus in compatible Taurus sextiles Jupiter in your opposite sign Pisces; you might enjoy attending a book reading or lecture with your S.O. Your ruling planet Mercury goes retrograde on Sunday, April 18. You probably dislike going back to check your work because you normally are so quick to do it the first time, but even if you do not find errors, you can benefit from seeing trends or spots where you are paying too much for a service. Best days this week have the Moon in compatible Taurus Thurs-Fri.

LIBRASept. 23-Oct. 22 – The New Moon is in your solar seventh house of partners. You may find that an ongoing relationship becomes more solid, and perhaps more formalized (ie an engagement etc.). Best days this week are April 17-18 when the Moon is in compatible Gemini. The Moon-Mars sextile Saturday gives you a wonderful surge of energy for both work and fun.

SCORPIOOct. 23-Nov. 21 – The New Moon is in your solar sixth house of health and work. You might make a point of finishing medical or dental procedures so that they are out of the way before Mercury goes retrograde. Also double-check clerical or licensing matters and deadlines. Have you brought your pet’s licenses and shots up to date?

SAGITTARIUSNov. 22-Dec. 21 – The New Moon in Aries trines you from your solar fifth house. This New Moon puts the accent on fun, your favorite subject. Yet you must proceed with caution and stick to venues and sports that you are familiar with — not the time to experiment with a new sport or a new stock play. And if you have an ongoing romance that you thought was a bit ho-hum, it might really heat up this spring. Best days this week: Sunday and Tuesday. Jupiter squares your sign from the fourth house. You may enjoy playing host to friends or international visitors on Sunday. Tuesday has the Moon in compatible Aries but no aspects to trip you up.

CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – The New Moon in Aries squares your Sun from your solar fourth house. This puts the accent on home and family. Perhaps you have an ongoing renovation project that finally culminates with an open house, or you complete a transition to a new home. Adding the fire element can really enhance your enjoyment of home, whether it is a simple outdoor grill, or a fireplace in the family room. Best day this week is Thursday, when Moon and Mercury are in compatible Taurus, and trine Pluto in your sign. You can really penetrate mysteries or do a lot of good research that day. Since Taurus is your solar fifth house, you can have a frank chat with your romantic partner on your future.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – The New Moon in Aries is in your solar third house of communications. Tie up contracts and negotiations. Finish any trips, whether business or personal, before Mercury goes retrograde on the eighteenth. The Moon-Venus conjunction in Taurus on Friday is in your solar fourth house; perk up your home with springlike curtains and colors. You might also have a young guest in your home for dinner. Saturn’s awkward aspect to Chiron in your sign on Monday can indicate changes to your insurance coverage or health plan. Perhaps you would do better under a group plan with an affiliation rather than with an employer.

PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces as the week begins till Monday morn. The Moon is conjunct Jupiter midday Sunday. Perhaps you find a church sermon uplifting, or perhaps you find a sense of peace in nature, music or philosophy. On Monday morning, the Moon first joins Uranus then opposes Saturn in Virgo. Something may upset you emotionally, enough to make you want to kick over the traces and escape the rat race. Maybe if you found a smoother commute route, one that allowed you to observe the signs of spring, you’d arrive at work in a much better frame of mind.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
