Hey, for a fun look at rating the strength of your natal Mars, check out Donna Cunningham’s cool article at

The Sun at 26 degrees Virgo is inconjunct Neptune in Aquarius on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 9:43 am. Time to reassess your illusions, some of which may have more than a grain of truth at the core! Virgo can be overly focused on eliminating items from consideration just because of some surface flaw, but Neptune represents the unwanted, discarded, damaged, even slandered among people and objects. You may have to learn one way or another that a Neptunian item/person may be among your most valuable possessions/friends.

The Sun at 28 degrees Virgo opposes Jupiter and then Uranus in Pisces on Tuesday. We may not be comfortable with those of differing religions (Jupiter) or of foreign origin (Uranus). But this is a burning issue in the U.S. right now as Christian religious leaders act to counter a growing Islamophobia. Try to make a point of learning something about things outside your comfort zone, or try talking to someone from another country or of another religion. One of my fond memories of college life was that we had people in our lunch group from many countries and cultures.

The Sun enters gracious Libra at 11:09 pm Wednesday; Sept. 22 also marks the autumnal equinox. Saturn is in Libra at present, but rather than being a downer, it is well to remember that Saturn is EXALTED in Libra. What does that mean, anyway? Well, if you do not know, you will likely find out by the time this transit is over, as we all will. But Saturn in the sign of the scales represent true justice, the idealized justice that laws can only approximate.

You might find it helpful to read this excerpt from another blog entry by Gryphon Astrology:

Saturn and Ma’at at the Autumn Equinox (from Gryphon Astrology)

It is said that the planets are exalted in the signs they governed at the beginning of the world. As a result, we can learn something about the profound, hidden nature of each planet by understanding its role in the sign of its exaltation. The sign of Libra, which is the sign ruling the fall equinox, is the exaltation of the planet Saturn. Saturn is the pass-not of the planetary spheres; it represents time, death, and the inevitable decay of physical things. As such, it is the most appropriate planet for the West direction, where the dead go.

As a symbol of the inevitable laws governing our existence, Saturn has some similarity to the Egyptian goddess Ma’at. She was the goddess (or really, more like an abstract concept personified) of order and justice, who had come into being along with creation, which gives us a hint as to her true Saturnian nature. Since the moment a being is born, its very material existence guarantees its eventual demise, and Ma’at is there from the start. She was the goddess associated with the feather against which a dead person’s heart was weighed after death. The fact that her counterweight is a feather, which anything made of gross matter must outweigh, implies that material creation can never “win” against the Saturnian restrictions of death and time. Like a feather, death and time are infinitely light, intangible and yet completely impassable from the material perspective.

Given Ma’at and Saturn’s association with the scales, we see here a natural connection to the Scales of Libra, the sign that the Sun enters at the fall equinox. This is the sign where the Sun is in fall, as opposed to its exaltation in Aries. The fall equinox thus marks the halfway point on the descending axis between the complete light of the summer solstice and the complete darkness of the winter solstice.

The fall equinox is the perfect time to meditate on the distinctions between that which is ephemeral, and that which endures. From an Eastern perspective, because we live in a material world, we are surrounded by the great illusion of Maya. All things discernible by the senses must eventually pass into the West. Focusing on those things which endure trains our sights toward its opposite, in the East and the spring equinox, the place of eternal hope, as contrasted to the West, the place of eternal endings. So it might be well to comb through every drawer and bin in your home, and toss out or give away whatever you have no further use for. It is hard to give up THINGS, but try to look upon it as sharing them with a new owner. List items on freecycle, craigslist, or PaperbackSwap. I have been doing that these past several weeks, while preparing for a move the end of August. I gave away a couple silk trees (but kept a live plant), some Tyco beanies, tons of books — and then, wouldn’t you know it, I lost still more stuff in a smoky apartment fire. That hurt, but I realize that it is probably for the best, long term. (And there you have another Mercury retrograde story.)

The Moon in Pisces is conjunct Jupiter and Uranus overnight Wed-Thurs. Actually, it is conjunct Jupiter at 1:06 am Thur., and conjunct Uranus at 1:52 am Thurs. Those with major contacts to this transit can have great energy and radiance, and sweep others along with their vision. However, don’t go shopping; everything will probably look so wonderful and you will want six of everything. You can get yourself in a deep hole with the credit card, especially if shopping online (Uranus).

The Full Moon this month is at ZERO degrees Aries, at 4:47 am Thursday. This degree is known as the Aries Point. “When planets fall on the Aries Point, a position that connects the personal to the collective, we are reminded that what happens to the individual impacts the world and what happens in the world impacts the individual.” In other words, think globally, act locally. A first-degree Aries person or company is going to be a real mover and shaker, getting people on board for projects and team efforts. They will knock on doors and ask a hundred people if they need just ten to get something going.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIESMarch 20-April 19 – The Moon is in Aries from 4:47 am Thursday till Saturday afternoon. The Full Moon in your sign signals new beginnings, but Saturn opposed and Pluto squared will frustrate you. Accept guidelines and assignments by focusing on how you can do them right the first time. Guard your health and your energy; you may have to alter your regimen around work demands. A Moon-Mercury inconjunct mid-morning on Friday favors updating emails or message systems. Got to keep up with the times. A Moon-Neptune sextile about 9 am Saturday favors a swim or art pursuits. Perhaps you pull out the camera to capture a lovely early fall scene.

TAURUSApril 20-May 20 – Libra is a problematic sign for you because it is inconjunct; you may enjoy creative fall crafts but not be sure how to handle people stressed out by the T-square transit. The Moon enters Taurus at 4:17 pm Saturday, in time for starting a wonderfully indulgent dinner for the family. Complete with dessert, of course. (It remains thru the weekend till very late Monday.) The Moon trines Pluto in Capricorn and is inconjunct Sun in Libra late Saturday night. You may win a concession from your spouse, perhaps by lulling him first into a food-induced pleasure zone. Be at your creative best and who knows what may ensue.

GEMINIMay 21-June 20 – Sunday morning’s Sun in Virgo is inconjunct Neptune in Aquarius; homelife may become chaotic in spite of your best efforts. Long flights are not favored Monday morning when a Moon-Neptune conjunction occurs in your solar ninth house. Am guessing probably delays due to mysterious warning lights. Stay alert on your commute, too. You do get a lot done that evening if working late; Pluto and Mars put you in the drivers’ seat in sales calls. Business may become mixed with pleasure Tuesday morn; but don’t forget your company’s ethical guidelines. The Sun opposition to Jupiter and Uranus affects your career/home axis. A great opportunity could fall in your lap, but you wonder about the strain on your family.

CANCERJune 21-July 22 – Cancerians find the week stressful with another round of aspects to hard planets on Thurs. and Sat. And on top of everything, everyone comes to you to cry on your shoulder. Keep the tissues and the chicken soup handy. The Moon squares Pluto and opposes Saturn on Thurs., affecting your solar tenth and fourth houses (career and home/family). Hope you will not be caught up in the developing second round of foreclosures in this country. Perhaps your company can buy the property to use as a guest accommodation for visitors, or as an executive perk. On Sat. night, the Sun squares Pluto, reinforcing the fears of Thurs. Push may come to shove. You might make hard decisions about what to keep and what to ditch in another move.

LEOJuly 23-Aug. 22 – The Sun enters Libra, your solar third house of communications, transit, school, and local politics. You can enter the spotlight, you can create exquisite invites to your house parties, you can even run for school board — since Leos are often deeply child-oriented. Juno is currently in Leo, and trines Ceres (parenting) in Sag, your solar fifth house; that combo only reinforces the theme of children and creative pursuits. Go for it.

VIRGOAug. 23-Sept. 22 – Virgo detests excess, yet the Sun opposition to Jupiter (and Uranus) on Tuesday, followed by the Moon in Virgo opposition to Jupiter (and Uranus) Thurs-Fri will find out whether you really mean that. You might be truly embarrassed with riches and quite suddenly, too. Do you have anything at 28 degrees of any mutable sign (Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, Sag)? Your careful tracking of winning lottery numbers might pay off. However, note that the Sun in Libra, your second house of money, is square Pluto in Capricorn, your fifth house of gambles. Pluto has been known to wipe out all one’s gains. So if you hit a hot streak at the blackjack table, get out while you have a profit.

LIBRASept. 23-Oct. 22 – OK, take a deep breath. Saturn is in your sign, you know that. But Saturn is EXALTED in your sign, comprende? You stand to benefit from a return to true justice and ideals. Enough laws have been interpreted to benefit those who already have much; now it is time to re-balance the equation. Having said that, what can you contribute to the national discussion of values and law in this society? You will be pressed for some answers probably Wed-Thurs and on Saturday. Be prepared.

SCORPIOOct. 23-Nov. 21 – On Monday, watery Moon joins liquid Neptune about 9 am in Aquarius, your solar fourth house of home. Make sure the tap is turned off and plumbing leaks attended to. A friend, child, or romantic partner may reap a windfall midweek under the conjunction/oppositions to Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. Perhaps you might have a friend buy a ticket for you, or just reap a celebratory drink or dinner from same. A secret hideaway might not be secret anymore; do not take chances with leaking your secret this week. On Thursday, the Moon in Aries, your solar house of health, is inconjunct mars in Scorpio. You may have to alter your regimen, possibly under doc’s orders but maybe just because you need a change.

SAGITTARIUSNov. 22-Dec. 21 – A Pisces family member may be quite lucky this week; celebrate with them, but urge them to put something away for emergencies. You and Leo are allies this week, since Ceres in your sign trines Juno in Leo Sept. 26. Help a child with homework, or offer to babysit for grandchildren. You might even get more involved in local school board issues. On Wed., the Sun enters Libra, your solar eleventh house. You may be intrigued by a new acquaintance, or challenged/mentored by a club officer. The middle part of the week is also marked by the Sun opposing/ Moon joining the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Pisces. This is on your solar tenth-fourth house axis of career vs. home/family. You will be torn if a great job offer parts you from your family, even for a short time.

CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – You, too, are affected (ie stressed) by the presence of Pluto in your sign squared by Saturn in Libra. This will be aggravated midweek by the Sun entering Libra late Wed., and the Sun squaring Pluto on Sat. night. You will focus on a person (possibly a boss) as the source of your aggravation, but this is only a projection; the real war is within yourself. Perhaps you resent any authority above yourself, but that is something we all have to deal with; either be your own boss or get with the program. Ultimately, you can only be the boss of you. And ultimately one’s true authority comes from God not money or position, so ponder that for a while as you pay your parking ticket.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius as the week begins, till Monday afternoon. The Moon is conjunct Neptune about 9 am, making you miss your off-ramp during the commute because you are daydreaming. The Moon goes void of course at that time, altho it also makes a minor(?) inconjunct aspect to the Sun in Virgo at 11:18 am. Ignore the boss’ threat to fire you for being late; any threats will not be followed thru on. That does not mean you won’t have to swear it won’t happen again. Resolve to live up to a Virgo ideal of on time, all the time, and with the answers at your fingertips.

PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces from 4:15 pm Monday till early Thursday. The Moon sextiles Pluto and trines Mars Monday night; you will find it easier to take responsibility for your health in general. Talk to those pesky germs and tell them to stop making you sick. A Moon inconjunct Saturn early Tuesday affects your feelings about Duty; try to figure out a way of making a game of chores. A trine to Venus toward mid-morning brings a sweet colleague to share break time; it can also signify a cash settlement of a legal matter or an advance on your new book. Avoid speeches that afternoon; a Moon-Mercury opposition can muddle how your comments are heard or interpreted. Excess rules the day Wed-Thur. when the Moon in your sign joins Jupiter and Uranus late.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
