Belgians make beer on a lunar cycle

While farmers and backyard gardeners with a traditional bent often plant and harvest, can food and set chickens, etc according to the lunar calendar, it is very rare for a COMPANY to do so. So it was very intriguing to come across this article today about a Belgian entity that brews beer by the moon’s cycle.

‘ “We made several tests and noticed that the fermentation was more vigorous, more active [during a full moon],” explained Roger Caulier, the owner of Brewery Caulier, which began in the 1930s when his grandfather started selling homemade beer from a handcart.’

Brewing the beer at the Full Moon not only sped up the fermentation (cutting two days off the period needed to produce a batch), it also created a stronger flavor. This is pretty amazing; if other businesses could speed up the time needed to produce a batch of beer, or any other product, it might be cost-effective to apply this technique on a larger scale.  Pretty Cool!!

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
