Your Milky Way Horoscope Oct. 10-16, 2010

Mercury is conjunct the Sun at 9:05 pm Sat., October 16, at 22 degrees Libra. This is a key event in the economic cycle, and we would do well to ask what those two planets were doing before joining up this week. The Sun was conjunct Saturn on Sept. 30. Mercury opposed technological and erratic Uranus on Oct. 2, squared Pluto early on Oct. 5, and conjoined Saturn on Oct. 5. So these two poor boys have been buffeted by negative messages from Saturn while poor lil Mercury has had to face ultimatums from Uranus and Pluto, the Lightning and Earthquake Twins, all by himself.

It’s enough to give the wing-footed one a complex. He will have nothing but bad news to pass along to the Sun when he gives his report. Didn’t we see this before? A couple years ago, Mars joined the Sun after a conjunction to Saturn on July 7, 2008. Mars represents debt, among other things. And the bad news he passed along to the Sun was that we were all carrying far too much debt, in that instance it was mortgage debt.

This time around, the Mercury-Saturn conjunction was accompanied by Venus’ retrograde station the same day, Oct. 8 (at 3:05 am, at 13 degrees Scorpio). Venus represents not only money, but the dollar itself, commodities like sugar, cattle, copper, art, flowers, fruit and everything that is sweet. The dollar could drop in value, but Wall Street likes that because it makes our exports more salable on the world markets.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIESMarch 20-April 19 – A lawyer/publisher/pastor/prof is very supportive of your spouse Monday, who has possibly suffered some reverses this month. Caution the rest of the family against splurges for the time being, tho. A job assignment may come to an end about Wednesday, when the Moon joins Pluto-Ceres. However, a sextile to Venus overnight says she may have ways to soften the blow. See about borrowing against insurance, or selling off unneeded possessions. The week will still have tough aspects, but the week ends with reasons for optimism if you are willing to be more disciplined about spending, etc.

TAURUSApril 20-May 20 – A friend may not be generous if you ask Tuesday, but you should at least let her know how matters stand. A late dinner with your special one can be very romantic Wednesday, under a Moon-Venus sextile. (and even picnicking in the living room can be romantic under Moon-Venus) Sun, Mercury and Saturn all make conjunctions this week in your solar sixth house of health, so it may be wise to have nagging issues looked at. Get it done and taken care of.

GEMINIMay 21-June 20 – A child or romantic partner may be going through the wringer this week (and this month) so just try to be supportive. That may mean just distracting HIM with jokes and gossip, or drawing out more details from a HER. Thursday afternoon’s Sun-Moon square may not favor dates or any male-female mixers; however, I am told that this evening favors staying up late to get something done until the void-of-course Moon at 5:49 am Friday.

CANCERJune 21-July 22 – You are in for a long haul due to Saturn’s transit thru Libra for the next couple years; however, if anyone is a pillar of strength, it is probably you. Cancers may cry a bit at first over a loss or bad news, but they get themselves together and just do what has to be done. So this may be a tough week because Saturn is getting a lot of aspects from the Moon as more details come out, but sextiles on Monday, and a trine Saturday, promise some silver linings. You go find them.

LEOJuly 23-Aug. 22 – The Mercury-Saturn conjunction from last week continues to percolate down as details come through. And some of those details may rebound in your favor on Monday and Saturday, when there are favorable Moon aspects. Plus the Sun-Mercury conjunction on Saturday is likely in favorable aspects to your natal planets, so that is another reason for optimism — altho I know full well that Leo is almost always sunny and warm, just like the sun.

VIRGOAug. 23-Sept. 22 – Virgo is just so relieved to have Saturn out of its sign again that it is kicking up its heels and ready to play. You may be inclined to go out to the movies (yes, OUT, to an actual cinema; splurge this once). The Sun-Mercury conjunction in Libra is in your solar second house, and even though Saturn is there now, that can be good. Saturn not only makes you disciplined about your budget, it can add longer hours and sometimes more responsibility. So keep your head up and your eyes open, and sharpen up unused skills.

LIBRASept. 23-Oct. 22 – Ah, poor Libra. You are really getting a lot of stuff thrown at you all of a sudden, but ‘grace under pressure’ is one more ideal you can master. I know you don’t deserve bad luck or reverses, but geez, the wheel goes round and now it is your turn and that is how things go. You may have to sell off some cherished objets d’art, but they need a change of scene, too. Wednesday may be frankly the worst day of the week, when Moon-Pluto pressure Saturn in your sign. Ah, well, but the Sun-Mercury conjunction on Saturday is also in your sign, promising yet another new start (altho this time on a more disciplined footing).

SCORPIOOct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio until Sunday evening. Well, Scorp, Sunday has some of everything: a trine to Jupiter about 11 am, followed closely by squares to Neptune and Ceres, and a trine to Uranus in the afternoon. Jupiter may be no help if you overdo, but maybe you won’t care anyway. But the square to Neptune-Chiron cautions you about knowing what you eat, because that combo can produce anything from indigestion to food poisoning or worse. Uranus will point out the funny side of everything Sunday afternoon. And frankly we all could use a good laugh in these difficult times.

SAGITTARIUSNov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag from 6:09 pm Sunday to very early Wednesday. No aspects Sunday, but Monday has a productive sextile from the Moon to Saturn mid-morning and an informative Mercury in the evening. You can get a great deal done at work, and ‘relax’ with a class that night. Tuesday just has a challenging yet rewarding square to Jupiter about 4 pm; thinking big can pay off. Sextiles to Neptune and Chiron early evening caution you to watch what you eat, but you may find something novel at the health-food store. Comedy rules the evening under Uranus’s rays.

CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from 12:17 am Wed. to mid-morning Friday. The Moon conjunct Ceres and Pluto early can be a good time to harvest the last of the garden; also you may revise your diet after receiving new scientific data Monday. You will have to be disciplined about that to get thru dinner hour, but Saturn is strengthening your resolve. You might not be please Thursday with the way things are progressing at work, but just be glad you have a job in this economy. Sextiles to Mars and Jupiter early Friday bring energy, daring, risk and rewards.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from 10:24 Friday morn to next Sunday night. The Moon makes no aspects Friday to Aquarius, so expect a rather uneventful day. Saturday the Moon trines Saturn about sunrise, helping you get chores out of the way. A square to Venus about 10 am can see friction between women; beg off the brunch with sis or mom and tell her next Monday night looks better. A Sun-Mercury conjunction Sat. night favors catching up with news and email. You might actually enjoy the church service next Sunday under a favorable Moon trine to solar-chart ninth house planets.

PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – The Moon squares Jupiter in Pisces at 4:15 pm Tuesday; you might be too generous for your own good. This is followed by a Moon-Uranus square; emotional upsets about 8 pm do not favor a dinner party or healthful eating for that matter. However, a Moon-Jupiter sextile late Thursday is far better; try to think who can help you with a problem. A Moon-Uranus sextile during the morning commute Friday brings an insight; maybe the morning dj says something that makes the light bulb go on, hey?

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
