Stone circle in Morocco marked seasons

by Milky Way Maid

The United Kingdom has no monopoly on stone circles that mark the equinoxes and/or solstices. A stone circle was recently discovered in Morocco, and many of its stone markers fill the same purpose.

For example:

Stone 30 marks the summer solstice sunrise.
Stone 146 marks the summer solstice sunset.
Stones 61 and 62 mark the winter solstice sunrise.
Stone 118 marks the winter solstice sunset.
Stone 47 marks the equinoctial sunrise
Stone 132 marks the equinoctial sunset

So this is pretty remarkable. Seasonal markers may well be global phenoms because the reason that people needed them was universal.

You may join a forum discussion of the stone circle here, plus a link to the original article:

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 30-Feb. 5, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Happy Chinese New Year! Groundhog Day is also the first day of the year of the Rabbit (aka the Cat). The Rabbit is a rather quiet person who just wants peace.
Did you realize that we have had several Full Moons at 29 degrees of a sign, all in a row? The streak started with the October 23rd Full Moon at 29 Aries; then November 21 at 29 Taurus; December 21 at 29 Gemini; January 19, 2011 at 29 Cancer; February 18 at 29 Leo. FIVE IN A ROW! The first five signs of the zodiac.
What does it mean? I talked a bit about late degrees of a sign in natal charts in another article, but this is a transit. It is worth checking out Barbara Hand Clow’s website because this is where she mentioned it. (
I think that the last degree of a zodiac, in a chain like this, points out the end of a cycle, and in turn, the beginning of a new one. Part of the ‘homework’ that we have as human beings in getting ready for the 2012-end of the cycle thing is to renew our physical (and spiritual and emotional) bodies. It is kind of like getting ready for a new calendar year in the ordinary sense.
We really have three ‘New Years’ every year. There is the calendar year, which is really only a man-made construction. There is the natural new year, when the Sun enters Aries at the Spring Equinox; we normally feel a resurgence of energy and hope at that time of year. And there is the personal new year when we have a birthday, after completing another year of life in this current shell we inhabit. We often begin a new personal cycle at that time, with each year having its own flavor or motif, you might say.
Now we are preparing for another ‘New Year’ in terms of the ‘Great Year,’ the 5,000-plus year cycle as determined by the mathematics-addicted Mayans. So you may find yourself inclined to cut back, get rid of excess stuff, downsize, and otherwise shed things and habits that belong to the old you. Some of us are being forced to do so, due to foreclosure or bankruptcy or whatever, but that is another story.
Going back to the topic of these 29th-degree Full Moons: perhaps the signs that these full moons fall in, are likely to have achieved a measure of perfection of their signs. Or are being asked to perfect the expression of their signs. In other words, Aries, who is experiencing a Jupiter transit this year, is asked to express the highest degree of leadership and pioneering energy.
Taurus is asked to express the highest degree of stewardship, follow-through, the ability to comfort themselves and others. Gemini’s job is to perfect education, information and communications, preferably in a way that is low-cost or free, and free of censorship (except for protective walls against porn). Cancer: to nurture, to provide shelter, make a home, provide security and safety, etc. Leo: to provide fun — especially for children, entertainment, and yet stability, too; to find or provide some joy in life.
That’s one interpretation, anyway. Ms. Clow offers the interpretation that: “29 Cancer is the fruition of the Goddess, the one who inspires the feminine in both men and women. The 29 Gemini lunar eclipse in December and the 29 Cancer Full Moon in January are both aspected by the asteroid Juno. During the January 17 Full Moon, Juno is in 29 Virgo, exact opposite Jupiter in 29 Pisces, which profoundly equalizes male and female dynamics; we can solve the great problems we face now by working together.” from her site at:
Mercury enters air sign Aquarius at 5:19 pm Thursday. The one end of the spectrum of Mercury here is an extremely cold and detached objectivity. The other end is a mental empathy that is aware of others’ feelings, yet communicates effectively with others in a loving way. Mercury here loves others’ unique individuality and respects them for being who they are.
Venus enters Capricorn at 12:58 am Friday. Venus in Cappy is rather dutiful, taking care of business and not spending time playing with her kids or taking them on fun outings. Venus here will take them to the library. Venus here may be a working mom, very career-oriented. Frankly, Venus in Capricorn often cares too much about social position and materialism. A higher expression of her energy here would help others to actualize their ambitions to improve themselves.

What Do the Stars Say About this Weekend’s Final NFL Playoffs? (2011)

by Milky Way Maid
The NFL is winding up the playoffs this weekend with two games on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011. From what I can see of the astrological signatures, there is a good chance of at least one upset this weekend. And unfortunately, the president’s choice (Bears) is in danger of failing to advance to the Super Bowl.
The first game Sunday is a Central Division battle between the wild card Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears at 2 pm CT. The ascendant is at 28 Gemini; sometimes very late degrees favor an upset more than not. The ascendant is conjunct the South Node, square the Moon exactly in the fourth house, and square Uranus-Jupiter in the tenth house. Also it trines Neptune exactly in the ninth house near the midheaven. Strong squares usually help a football team to hold the line and score points. But this chart is rather weak, using non-planetary points like the nodes, and a mutable moon. The square to Jupiter and Uranus in the tenth could help the Bears put some points on the board, though. We shall see.
… Oh, Mr. Cutler is not looking very good this Sunday. I gotta go with with the Packers and Mr. Rodgers, who has some powerful aspects to his North Node.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 23-29, 2011

Venus in Sag sextiles Saturn in Libra at 2:19 pm Sunday. Venus and Saturn combine pleasure and duty very well; you might say that duty is a pleasure. Attend to obligations with a light and willing heart.
Saturn goes retrograde at 1:10 am Wed., Jan. 26, at 17 degrees 14 minutes Libra. Saturn will be retrograde till almost mid-June. Wednesday looks fraught with conflict and even argument, and see the following aspect for more chills and thrills the same day. Confusion will probably last into Thursday under a Moon-Neptune square and a trine to upsetting Uranus. I don’t know what is in the works here, but it sure looks like a lot of people will not be happy about it.
Mercury in Capricorn squares Saturn the same morning, at 4:58 am. This can definitely create obstacles and frustrations in communications. Perhaps you cannot reach the person you need to speak to, or satellites and servers are down. Patience, patience.

Sports Astrology looks at January 15-16, 2011 NFL Playoffs

Sports astrology often has interesting things to say in describing sports events and the performances of key players. Last week I looked at the results of the wild card playoffs of the NFL. In most cases, the key lay with the transits to the starting quarterbacks of the respective teams. So let’s look at this weekend’s games and see what is in store for Misters Flacco, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Ryan, Hasselbeck, Cutler, Sanchez, and Brady.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 16-22, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

The is a major or minor aspect almost every day this week. It might be pretty eventful for some people.
The Sun at 27 degrees Capricorn is sextile Uranus in Pisces (which is still in orb of a conjunction to Jupiter) on Monday afternoon. Capricorn natives can make great strides when using the internet to network, promote themselves or their work, or do research. Broadcasting is also a productive medium.
Mercury is conjunct Pluto at 5 degrees Capricorn at 12:50 am Tuesday. This is great for research, for getting to the bottom of any problem, and for persuasive communications.

The Sun is sextile Jupiter at 29 degrees Pisces at 5:39 pm Wednesday. I told you that late degrees mean you can get whatever you want from life. Pisces tends to be a weeper, tho, so stop the whining and decide what you really want to wish for, then wish with all your heart.
The Sun enters Aquarius at 5:19 am Thursday, Jan 20. Happy birthday, Aquarians, for it appears that at least a glimpse of the Age of Aquarius may occur in 2011-2012. As I mentioned in a blog entry last week, the Neptune-Pluto conjunction of the late 1960s is coming to a square this year and next. That often means that the seed that was planted on the conjunction, produces fruit on the square. It is kind of like a mushroom whose threadlike roots are always underground, and when conditions are ripe, produces the wonderful ‘fruit’ that adds so much to soups and stews. Wonder what kind of ‘fruit’ the year will bring.
Jupiter enters Aries at 12:11 pm Saturday, Jan. 22. Jupiter in Aries favors pioneering projects and trends. Fashion accessories may feature lamb and sheep motifs. And hats will make fashion statements. Keyword is leadership. Your downfall can be impulsiveness, so look before leaping.

Interesting Sports Astrology Charts Hinted at NFL Playoff Upsets

by Milky Way Maid
This past weekend saw both NFL teams that contested last year’s Super Bowl both eliminated in the wild-card playoffs.
The Indianapolis Colts were edged by the NY Jets by a mere point on Saturday night, 17-16. Saturday afternoon saw the New Orleans Saints defeated by the Seattle Seahawks, 41-36.
Sunday’s playoffs were generally more formful. Green Bay beat the Eagles, 21-16. And the Baltimore Ravens demolished the Kansas City Chiefs, 30-7.
Let’s look at each of the 4 playoff game charts and at the quarterbacks to get some clues about the outcome.
On Saturday, Jan. 8, the Saints met the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle at 1:30 pm PT. The Ascendant was at 4.5 degrees Gemini, opposite Venus in the sixth house. It was also inconjunct Pluto in the eighth house. The Midheaven was at 5 degrees Aquarius and it was a bit odd that there were no major aspects to it at all. There was only a semisextile to Pluto.
The Seahawks’ ruler as the home team was Mercury, which squared the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in the eleventh house. Mercury was also sextile Neptune in the tenth house. So Seattle was very fortunate to have good aspects not only to the Ascendant, but also to its ruler Mercury.
Seattle benefited from the opposition to Venus, who shed her beneficial rays toward them, and also from the Mercury square to Jupiter-Uranus, which gave great luck and unexpected turns to the game. Mercury can be youthful players, good catches, agility, speedy play-calling or audible-calling, and footwork. Gemini is quick, lightning quick, and brings an exuberance to the way the game is played.
The Saints’ ruler was Jupiter, which benefited from the conjunction to Uranus, too. It was also square Mercury (good agility and quickness of play), trine Venus (some luck, favorable calls from referees, etc), and sextile Mars (fine athletic skill and stamina).

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
