By Milky Way Maid
Happy Chinese New Year! Groundhog Day is also the first day of the year of the Rabbit (aka the Cat). The Rabbit is a rather quiet person who just wants peace.
Did you realize that we have had several Full Moons at 29 degrees of a sign, all in a row? The streak started with the October 23rd Full Moon at 29 Aries; then November 21 at 29 Taurus; December 21 at 29 Gemini; January 19, 2011 at 29 Cancer; February 18 at 29 Leo. FIVE IN A ROW! The first five signs of the zodiac.
What does it mean? I talked a bit about late degrees of a sign in natal charts in another article, but this is a transit. It is worth checking out Barbara Hand Clow’s website because this is where she mentioned it. (www.handclow2012.com/astroflash.htm)
I think that the last degree of a zodiac, in a chain like this, points out the end of a cycle, and in turn, the beginning of a new one. Part of the ‘homework’ that we have as human beings in getting ready for the 2012-end of the cycle thing is to renew our physical (and spiritual and emotional) bodies. It is kind of like getting ready for a new calendar year in the ordinary sense.
We really have three ‘New Years’ every year. There is the calendar year, which is really only a man-made construction. There is the natural new year, when the Sun enters Aries at the Spring Equinox; we normally feel a resurgence of energy and hope at that time of year. And there is the personal new year when we have a birthday, after completing another year of life in this current shell we inhabit. We often begin a new personal cycle at that time, with each year having its own flavor or motif, you might say.
Now we are preparing for another ‘New Year’ in terms of the ‘Great Year,’ the 5,000-plus year cycle as determined by the mathematics-addicted Mayans. So you may find yourself inclined to cut back, get rid of excess stuff, downsize, and otherwise shed things and habits that belong to the old you. Some of us are being forced to do so, due to foreclosure or bankruptcy or whatever, but that is another story.
Going back to the topic of these 29th-degree Full Moons: perhaps the signs that these full moons fall in, are likely to have achieved a measure of perfection of their signs. Or are being asked to perfect the expression of their signs. In other words, Aries, who is experiencing a Jupiter transit this year, is asked to express the highest degree of leadership and pioneering energy.
Taurus is asked to express the highest degree of stewardship, follow-through, the ability to comfort themselves and others. Gemini’s job is to perfect education, information and communications, preferably in a way that is low-cost or free, and free of censorship (except for protective walls against porn). Cancer: to nurture, to provide shelter, make a home, provide security and safety, etc. Leo: to provide fun — especially for children, entertainment, and yet stability, too; to find or provide some joy in life.
That’s one interpretation, anyway. Ms. Clow offers the interpretation that: “29 Cancer is the fruition of the Goddess, the one who inspires the feminine in both men and women. The 29 Gemini lunar eclipse in December and the 29 Cancer Full Moon in January are both aspected by the asteroid Juno. During the January 17 Full Moon, Juno is in 29 Virgo, exact opposite Jupiter in 29 Pisces, which profoundly equalizes male and female dynamics; we can solve the great problems we face now by working together.” from her site at: www.handclow2012.com/astroflash.htm
Mercury enters air sign Aquarius at 5:19 pm Thursday. The one end of the spectrum of Mercury here is an extremely cold and detached objectivity. The other end is a mental empathy that is aware of others’ feelings, yet communicates effectively with others in a loving way. Mercury here loves others’ unique individuality and respects them for being who they are.
Venus enters Capricorn at 12:58 am Friday. Venus in Cappy is rather dutiful, taking care of business and not spending time playing with her kids or taking them on fun outings. Venus here will take them to the library. Venus here may be a working mom, very career-oriented. Frankly, Venus in Capricorn often cares too much about social position and materialism. A higher expression of her energy here would help others to actualize their ambitions to improve themselves.
Venus in Sag is busy on Wednesday morning. She sextiles Neptune in Aquarius in the wee hours, then squares Uranus in Pisces during the morning commute. Under the sextile to Neptune, she doesn’t see things too clearly. She wants to believe the best of others. With the square to Uranus, she could fall for someone who has no interest in her AT ALL. This aspect can also indicate an estrangement, and frankly it is better sometimes for some people to stay away from each other.
Mercury in Capricorn sextiles Uranus at midday Wednesday. This is favorable for electronic or mechanical items. Maybe you install some new app or software in your computer. Or buy a small electric device or appliance, like a toaster. Communications should go smoothly; it is always nice when you can actually reach the person you need to speak to, rather than leaving a message every time, hey. Good for brainstorming sessions, too; you are free to look at issues from a new perspective.
The Sun is conjunct Mars at 11:40 am Friday, at 13 degrees Aquarius. Sun-sign Aquarians may feel a new surge of energy, and may start a new project. Hey, slow down, be safety minded; rushing causes accidents so be cool. You need some physical activity today even if only a walk during lunch. Otherwise arguments, fevers etc. can flare up.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

Children may be energetic but also argue or fight; channel that energy into games or sports. Mars brings more risk-taking; take careful measure of your stop-loss number.
SCORPIO – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – Sunday night’s Moon-Pluto conjunction is helpful for research, or maybe just enjoying a mystery novel. Mercury enters your solar fourth house on Thursday; you might play host to a young person, student, or writer. Possibly you may start writing a blog from the comfort of home. The Sun-Mars conjunction in Aquarius midday Friday can have you ready to bust out of your ‘cabin fever’ prison. Go ahead and do your spring cleaning early. Set up a home gym if you want.
SAGITTARIUS – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag as the week begins, but only for the morning. Early risers see a Moon-Neptune sextile and a Moon-Uranus square; perhaps a dream offers insights into your situation. Interesting, the same outer planets repeat the aspects except with Venus on Wednesday; take notes on those dreams or daydreams from Sunday and try to crystallize them into reality. On Thursday night, Mercury enters Aquarius, your solar third house of communications and education; you might enroll in one or more classes. The urge to make changes to your home surroundings may strike Friday night, possibly with a self-made piece of artwork. The Sun-Mars conjunction midday Friday in your third house brings – a red car? Or a red Blackberry.
CAPRICORN – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from 9:04 am Sunday till Tuesday night. Midday Sunday sees a Moon-Jupiter square; you will be in a good, possibly generous mood, with a possible interest in religion or metaphysics. Strong feelings are dredged up by the Moon-Pluto conjunction Sunday night; self-analysis can be productive. The Moon-Saturn square Monday pm means loneliness and negativity, but this mood will pass. You will be much more rational and objective under the Moon-Mercury conjunction midday Tuesday. Deep-seated emotions may bubble up again Friday night with siblings or neighbors.
AQUARIUS – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from 6:21 pm Tuesday till Friday morn. Happy New Moon on Wednesday at 13 degrees of your sign! Also Mercury enters your sign on Thursday; see notes above on that. However, your thinking may get fuzzy late Thursday; make notes on the cloud of ideas in your head for sorting later. Sun is conjunct Mars on Friday in your sign; see notes above. Sun in your sign trines Saturn in Libra very late Saturday; you might wind up working into the wee hours once your motor is running.
PISCES – Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon is in Pisces from 5:24 am Friday till next Sunday, Feb. 6. A Moon-Venus sextile early Friday brings a pleasant call from a woman friend. Deep-seated emotions bubble up Friday night; best to try to talk things out rationally, but the ‘hot buttons’ might be too hot. ALSO, Venus enters Capricorn on Friday in your solar house of friends and clubs. You may get some favors from well-connected friends if you are lucky. On Saturday afternoon , you really, really resent having limitations or demands put on you, but you gotta make the adjustment if you’re gonna get along.
