Your Milky Way Horoscope March 6-12, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Have all of you been following the drawn-out struggle between the Wisconsin governor and the union members who stand in danger of losing their hard-won right to collective bargaining? I am guessing it is related to the transiting square between Jupiter and Pluto; Pluto rules unions and other mass movements. Jupiter is the Republican party, among other things, and the GOP-ers want to break the unions in order to cripple Democratic fund-raising sources. This is about money, all right, but not state budget money, it’s CAMPAIGN money.

The square was/will be exact on Feb. 26, when the protest will be at almost the two-week mark. (This is being written the week of Feb. 22) I hesitate to make any predictions of the outcome, because I have limited internet access right now and cannot research the gov, Wisconsin statehood (all I know is 1848), or this union. But Pluto lingers at 7 degrees Capricorn till late May, going retrograde on April 9. I think Pluto is gathering immense public support for unions like we have not seen in decades, having picked up energy from the North Node at zero Capricorn this winter.
Folks, it is vitally important that we support the right to organize; blood was shed in the historical struggle to gain this right, and we cannot allow the sacrifices of union pioneers to go for naught now. You might send donations to Ian’s Pizza on State Street in Madison, WI, which has shut down normal operations in order to focus on making and delivering pizzas to the union protesters in the Capitol a block away. Thank you!
The Sun at 15-16 degrees Pisces is inconjunct Saturn in Libra at 3:26 pm Sunday. I notice that Saturn sometimes represents the experts, the pundits, the oddsmakers, etc. And whatever planet that Saturn is inconjunct with, represents the thing that the experts have to re-evaluate. Like, the Moon would be the public. The experts may misjudge what the public mood is or what they will do, and so the experts go back to the old drawing board. Here the Sun could represent the president, heads of state, fathers in general, gold (gold prices), etc. So for example, maybe the pundits will totally err in predicting what Pres. Obama will do, or his popularity rating. Maybe the gold bugs will totally err in predicting what gold prices will be.
Mercury at 29 degrees Pisces is conjunct Uranus at 11:05 am Wednesday. Impulsiveness and nervousness can lead to accidents. Not a good day to schedule your first driver’s license road test. Having said that, it is a day when creative ideas will just bombard you from all directions. Make notes to self thru the day to keep from losing them all. BTW you might also have psychic experiences if 29 degrees occurs in your natal chart.
Mercury enters Aries at 12:47 pm Wednesday. Mercury in Aries can be challenging to others, if Aries speaks in that aggressive or even overbearing way he has sometimes. But on the other hand, when Aries gets the hang of inspiring others with the thrill of meeting a challenge, he is capable of getting the best out of employees, buddies or members of the Scout troop he leads.
Venus at 9 degrees Aquarius sextiles Jupiter in Aries at 7:25 am Thursday. Venus loves her sugar daddy, yes she does. Supposed to be favorable for financial investments, especially if related to medicine, education, or foreign entities. Legal (ruled by Jupiter) decisions may be in your favor. It’s a sociable aspect, so throw a party or do some networking. Favorable for starting new relationships.
Uranus enters Aries again at 7:49 pm Friday. Uranus here is a very bold and innovative pioneer. Aries translates Uranian energy into new directions for mankind. Aries is the way-show-er, the pathfinder, and Uranus will lead Aries into new frontiers in technology, mechanics, new sources of electrical power, and into harnessing our creative and psychic powers as we may never have done before.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 27-March 5, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Venus at 29 degrees Capricorn sextiles Uranus in Pisces at 9:49 am Tuesday. New and different people and relationships beckon. These relationships may not last very long, or one party may drift in and out of your life at irregular intervals. Ah well, c’est la vie. Reminds me of the story of Margot Fonteyn, the ballet dancer, meeting her future husband. She went out with him, felt like she was walking on air, then he disappeared for ten years. He pops back in and they wind up getting married.
Venus enters Aquarius at 9:39 pm Tuesday. At its worst, Venus here uses the pretext of universal love to avoid establishing close personal relationships. Aquarius can be so detached that they cannot relate and bond with anyone on a personal level. However, Venus in Aquarius can attract equals and have close relationships while allowing the loved one the freedom to have other close friends. Venus here can love someone without the desire necessarily to possess the other, like their car or their house.
Mercury at 16 degrees Pisces is inconjunct (retrograde) Saturn in Libra at 8:03 am Wednesday. Some of us may have to make a mental (Mercury) adjustment (inconjunct) with regard to restrictions or regulations. We may have to make do with less, or nothing at all. Or we may have to get used to sharing a resource (not just food or gas, but a park campsite, library, etc).
Mars at 7 degrees Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 9:52 pm Thursday. There’s a real chance that someone (especially a Pisces or Capricorn) may try to use you as a rung on the ladder of their success. Pisces is not usually thought of as being really ambitious, but sometimes she thinks she is just sooo special that everyone ought to step aside for her. Not.
Looking ahead to next Sunday, the Sun at 15-16 degrees Pisces will be inconjunct Saturn (retrograde) in Libra at 3:25 pm March 6. This is related to the Mercury-Saturn inconjunct from Wednesday. Perhaps yet another inconvenience will be foisted on the American people due to some perceived threat by terrorists, etc.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 20-26, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

A triple conjunction occurs in Aquarius Sunday evening. Mercury joins Mars at 5:44 pm, Mercury joins Neptune at 8:07 pm, and Mars joins Neptune at 11:17 pm. Mercury-Mars is vehemently emotional speech. Mercury-Neptune is a speech defect, confused thinking, getting lost, and also speaking of ideals. Mars-Neptune is ideals, but also dance. Mercury and then Mars conjoin Chiron in Pisces during the week.
Mercury enters Pisces at 3:53 pm Monday. Mercury in Pisces has trouble communicating its ideals and visions, but it does have an active fantasy life. But Pisces is called to transmit its vision of a better world, and thereby help bring it into reality.
Mars enters Pisces at 8:06 pm Tuesday. Mars in Pisces has trouble sometimes with honoring the spiritual abilities of others; they think they are the only ones who are capable of conceiving a vision of a better world. This can lead to your gifts being wasted or scattered. But sharing insights with each other helps raise all boats, so to speak.
Mercury in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 12:06 pm Friday. This is after the Sun joins Mercury at 3:48 am, at 6 degrees Pisces. (Anyone with natal planets at 6 degrees of cardinal signs will be especially affected by the series of aspects on Friday.) The mental detectives get busy. Good for investigating contracts, cold cases, medical or legal issues, doing research of any kind. Pluto also leads one into fields dealing with metaphysics, so that may spur you into reading about philosophy, spiritual laws, psychology, astrology, and any other field that delves into the hidden motivations behind what people do.
Jupiter in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn at 3:40 pm Friday. The square denotes antagonizing those in authority. Wonder if Wikileaks is going to release some more sensitive info that reveals still more cases of questionable ethics among those in power.
Sun in Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 7:17 pm Friday. A time for personal transformation, of gaining spiritual depth. Opportunities to make some good karma.

What Do The Stars Say About the 2011 Oscars?

by Milky Way Maid
The Academy Awards are scheduled to be handed out in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011. Who will be the big winners, and are there any surprises in store?
To answer the last question first, there are always some surprises on Oscar night. A performer who had been thought to be a shoo-in, goes home empty-handed.
What does the chart look like? The awards show generally begins about 5 pm Pacific Time, still daylight, in fact, when the stars walk down the red carpet and wave to the adoring crowd.
So I will use that time for the chart. This renders an ascendant of zero degrees Virgo. Virgo is actually a strong sign in the natal chart of Los Angeles. A forgotten writer of an old article on Tinseltown pointed out that Virgo is very apt, and is reflected in the many technical trades that are behind every film ever completed.
At any rate, the Ascendant is inconjunct Uranus in the eighth house, with Jupiter only a few degrees away. The inconjunct sometimes denotes an upset of some kind. Events that transpire are not quite what the audience expected to see. The ascendant is also sesquiquadrate the Moon (public) in Capricorn. Moon in Capricorn is good for formal fashions, but is rather dour for a gala event like this. Yet the sesqui aspect denotes that the public will have a difficult time accepting these fashions. The Ascendant opposes Mars in Pisces in the seventh house (with the Sun and Mercury nearby), and also opposes Neptune in the sixth house of work and health. Neptune is films in general, and Mars nearby is health issues. Perhaps the mental health and speech therapy themes of the films Black Swan and The King’s Speech will be highlighted that night. (Neptune also rules afflictions, and illnesses with unknown or mysterious causes.)
The Ascendant is sextile the South Node in Gemini at the cusp of the eleventh house – the eleventh house probably denotes the guild that conducts this awards ceremony. Does the South Node denote a repeat winner?
The Midheaven is 26 degrees Taurus, which happens to be conjunct the evil star Algol. Wonder if anyone is supposed to get their head chopped off in the special effects category?
The Midheaven is trine Venus in Capricorn in the fifth house of entertainment. It is sextile Uranus in the eighth house, and square Neptune in the sixth. Neptune, as we said, is film in general. Perhaps the fact that Neptune is in the sixth house will put more focus on the technical trades and skills that give form to the writers’ and director’s vision.
Transiting Saturn (honors, or the experts’ pick) squares the Moon (the public). It seems that the public may not like who the honorees are this year. This is not the People’s Choice awards, after all. This is who the members of the industry think that the public should see. This may apply to the most talked-about film of the year, The King’s Speech. The public is accustomed to seeing stuttering played for laughs, like in A Fish Named Wanda. Here it is treated seriously and with sensitivity as the Queen helps her husband overcome stuttering so that he can fulfill his duty to deliver speeches.
OK, on to the performing categories. We will treat the categories, Best Actor, Best Actress, Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress, and Best Director.

Ancient Australians may have been astronomers, too

by Milky Way Maid

It looks like the ancient Australian bushmen may have been astronomers, too. A recent story going around the Australian press shows what look like ordinary stones in a semi-circle was really a quite accurate sun clock.

Well, you read the article and look at the picture and decide for yourself. Admittedly, it is nowhere near as impressive as Stonehenge. But they can’t all be photogenic, ya know.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 13-19, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Sorry am late. Have been recuperating from killer flu and dealing with assorted other obstacles. 2011 is a tough but promising year.
Mercury at 17 degrees Aquarius trines Saturn (retrograde) in Libra at 3:48 am Monday. The trine is helpful for detail work; you focus on the task at hand and don’t feel much like small talk. However, you are so near to the trees that you cannot see the forest, comprende? This aspect also favors getting some long-range practical advice from a sage expert or an older person.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot. Valentine’s Day is Monday (a Monday, bleah) so you are probably interested in the transits. The Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto and Venus at midday and night, respectively. Venus seems a lot better. If Venus at 11 degrees happens to be in the seventh house at the time of your dinner, the Venus person will sure seem irresistible. With the Moon in Cancer, the food is sure to be delicious, too. Possibly seafood (Cancer) will be on the menu, topped off with a scrumptious dessert (Venus, who rules sugar and butter). Avoid luncheon dates, when a T-square involving Pluto at 6 degrees, Moon and Jupiter is in effect and might not be too pleasant.
The Sun is conjunct Neptune at 28 degrees Aquarius at 4:56 am Thursday. Neptune conjunctions tend to confuse one’s self-image; on the other hand it helps in changing one’s image or appearance. Ex: coloring one’s hair, or the way Madonna keeps reinventing herself. The cautions are to avoid drugs (and double-check your Rx refill label), alcohol, or other chemicals. Allergies can flare up. And beware of diving into emotional swamps, thinking you can ‘save’ someone. It’s OK to escape with daydreams, meditation, artwork, music,
Venus at 16 degrees Capricorn squares Saturn in Libra at 2:21 pm Friday. Time to withdraw for a bit and introspect about your relationships. A bit of self-analysis can produce insights that improve a discouraging situation. This square will be tougher than usual because Libra always gets frustrated if not in a happy partnership; maybe Libra is not happy because Capricorn is more interested in status than in the actual bond between the two parties. For example, sometimes Cappy thinks he wants a trophy wife, when a solid and honest relationship is more conducive to long-term happiness. The square and opposition are the most difficult aspects between these two, while the conjunction and trine can be very positive.
And the Sun enters Pisces at 7:25 pm Friday. Happy birthday to all our fishy-signed friends!Pisces can be indecisive, hesitant, lack self-confidence, and get in their own way. They can enjoy crying on others’ shoulders a bit too much. But the flip side is that Pisces can uplift others with their talents as artist, poet, musician, and social reformer/crusader.
This year’s ingress is accompanied by Mercury, Mars and Neptune. They are in the sixth house of health in a chart set for Washington D.C. Other health indicators: Moon is in Virgo (in the twelfth house of hospitals), and trine Pluto in the fourth. Saturn is applying to the ascendant, indicating possible weight loss or ill health. And Neptune conjunct both the Sun and Mars saps the vitality of both. All this puts the burden on Pisces to watch their health carefully to get through a challenging year.
Also on Friday is a Full Moon at 29 degrees Leo. See last week’s column about the series of FMs at 29 degrees. The Full Moon at 3:36 am Friday, at 29 degrees Leo, is conjunct the great star Regulus according to some books. Leos may be called on for their legendary courage this month.
An interesting thing happened with the Sun-Mars conjunction (exact Feb. 4 at 14 degrees Aquarius). I was sick most of the day and night before, with shall we say flu symptoms, and had to go to the ER Friday. Got re-hydrated with 2.5 units of fluid. Trying to figure out what was the contact to my chart and all I can come up with is that old Chiron was the culprit. He’s >>at 17 degrees in my natal chart; I’ve written about him before. (give link) But why any of these bodies should cause this sudden and severe dehydration is a mystery to me. No fever, which would have been explained by Mars’ presence — chills, instead.
YAY! The Packers won the Super Bowl! What did I tell ya? And didn’t I tell ya that Rodgers would have a great day? I did so. Too bad I was still too wiped out to go to a S.B. party or something. Hey, anybody have a tape of the game I could borrow?

What Do the Stars Say About Super Bowl 2011?

by Milky Way Maid
At last we come to the Super Bowl 2011, the premier game day in all of pro football and an unofficial mid-winter holiday. It is a peak day for TV viewing, eating, drinking, betting on the outcome, watching TV commercials, and all the other hoopla that accompanies this event.
But let’s concentrate on the game, and on what the stars might say about the outcome.
First, let’s look at the ascendant which represents the home team or the favorite. There is no home team in the Super Bowl, so we will try to scope out which team is the fave later in this article. Right now, let’s just examine the aspects.
The date: Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011. Kickoff will be approximately 5:25 pm CT in Dallas Stadium, which is in Arlington, TX (halfway between Dallas and Ft. Worth).
That makes the ascendant 10 degrees Leo, with no aspects. This is quite startling for a major game like this.
The midheaven is 3 degrees Taurus, square Mercury in the sixth house. It is also trine Venus exactly in the fifth house (the game plan) with Pluto nearby. It is also sextile the South Node in the eleventh house of hopes/wishes. I think the quarterback will be the main story of the day, a youngish and attractive one. That seems to point to up-and-comer Aaron Rodgers rather than older veteran Ben Roethlisberger.

The ascendant ruler is the Sun in Aquarius; it is placed in the seventh house with Mars conjunct. That gives it high energy and vitality, although prone to accidents and temper tantrums. However, the Sun is trine retrograde Saturn in Libra, giving it the discipline to harness all that energy. Also the Sun is semisquare Venus in the fifth house, and semisquare Jupiter in the ninth house — that puts the Sun at the midpoint of Venus/Jupiter in other words. I am not experienced in using midpoints so I will leave the interpretation of that to others, although it does look auspicious.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
