Your Milky Way Horoscope May 5-11, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury at 7 degrees Taurus opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 7:13 am Sunday. On the one hand, this is a good aspect for doing detail work. On the other hand, you will be in quite a gloomy mood, and maybe even considering terminating a relationship or firing an employee. You are too obsessed with the bottom line, when you need to be more practical and look for approaches that work. Your outlook is much too negative for making major decisions; talk things over with an older person you respect, like dad or a mentor.

Mercury is conjunct Mars at 12 degrees Taurus at 8:33 pm Tuesday. Wow, last week you were really getting’ mad because you kept pushing at a thing and darn it, it just wouldn’t move. Now with this conjunction, you are ready to let fly (verbally) at the object of your frustration or anyone in the way. On the other hand you could write a very effective letter to the president of the company, or to the County Clerk, or whomever is at the nexus of the problem.

We have a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 19 degrees, 31′ Taurus at 8:28 pm Thursday. It is accompanied by Mars and Mercury very close to the lights. Also Venus just enters Gemini at midday. And I better mention that Scorpio will get a corresponding solar eclipse this fall on November 3, at 11 degrees Scorpio. For an interesting interpretation of this May eclipse, see Marina’s column at http://darkstarastrology.com/solar-eclipse-may-2013/ There is even a fifteen-minute video by Donna Page on the eclipse on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsKeL9AR2TM You go, Donna! I must confess that this eclipse contacts a major point on my own chart so I will be anxiously watching the effects.

Venus enters Gemini at 11:03 am Thursday. Venus in Gemini often uses his quick wit as a crutch in social situations, leading to superficial and ultimately unsatisfying relationships. But a more mature Venus can add not only sparkle to conversation, but also elevation and zest. You can learn to listen well, and create equal exchange. This is a very cheerful Venus, and that is nothing to sneeze at. This Venus needs mental attraction rather than physical ones, preferring intellectual pursuits. Famous people with Venus in Gemini include: both First Lady Jackie Kennedy and her mate, President John F. Kennedy, playwright William Shakespeare, former Beatle Ringo Starr, astronaut and senator John Glenn, baby doctor Benjamin Spock, and musicians or composers Van Cliburn, Richard Strauss, and Yehudi Menuhin.

The Sun and Mercury are conjunct at 20 degrees Taurus at 5:10 pm Saturday. The Sun-Mercury conjunction is one of the key points in the economic cycle, so one should watch the stock market and other economic indicator announcements. What news does Mercury bring the Sun? Well, looking at where Mercury has visited just this week, he made a stop to talk to Saturn (tight budgets, possible job losses) across the aisle, and had tea with Mars (debt and war), so probably he will not have a lot of happy talk to pass along to the Sun on Saturday.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 28-May 4, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 8 degrees Taurus opposes retrograde Saturn in Scorpio at 4:27 am Sunday. Sun-Saturn oppositions can be the most frustrating for fixed signs like Taurus because Taurus will not stop pushing against the “obstacle” – Saturn – and Saturn is not going to move or break. The aspect is about balancing your own needs with those of others; try a little horse trading, favor for favor.
Mars at 8 degrees Taurus opposes retrograde Saturn in Scorpio at 1:12 am Wednesday, May 1. Taurus is gettin’ mad now, he’s been pushing against that obstacle half a week, and it still hasn’t moved. Some projects may totally fail that ran into difficulties six months ago. Anger (Mars) needs to be aired or sublimated in physical activity, but at the same time you may need to learn to relax deeply and release the awful stress of this transit.
Mercury enters Taurus at 11:37 am Wednesday. Mercury in Taurus is a little bit slower than in Aries or Gemini, but once he learns something, he never forgets it. Mercury in Taurus has a more hands-on style of learning, so rather than read something from a book, it is better to let them try out experiments for themselves and SEE the mechanical or scientific principles in action. Famous people with Mercury in Taurus include: ballerina Margot Fonteyn, philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, singers Barbra Streisand, Perry Como and Bing Crosby, composer Richard Wagner, conductor Otto Klemperer, and publisher Henry Luce.
Mercury at 5 degrees Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 12:31 am Saturday. Mercury when combined with Neptune has a different style of learning something; he tends to absorb it rather than memorize rote definitions. Taurus is a more hands-on style of learning, anyway. Intuition is high but communications can be fuzzy. A good aspect for looking into New Age topics like ESP, reincarnation, karma, etc. Set aside logic for later, and let your imagination lead you to insights.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 21-27, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Everything was Aries last week. This week, the Taurus and Scorpio axis dominates.
Venus at 8 degrees Taurus opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 3:43 am Monday – note that 8 degrees is a critical degree for fixed signs, so this may have more effect than usual on people with planets in fixed signs. (This point will be reiterated when the Sun opposes Saturn on April 28, at the same degree.) Venus-Saturn oppositions can be problematic we are divided between work (Saturn) and play or enjoyment (Venus), so maybe we call in sick to work, but then it rains at the beach anyway so we go home and wind up cleaning out the junk drawer. There is also the chance of money restrictions, such as the cash machines not working, or you are given a very tight budget to work with for, say, a play’s props, forcing you to improvise, and very creatively I might add.
Mercury at 16 degree Aries sextiles Jupiter in Gemini at 11:25 pm Tuesday. Mercury and Jupiter are both mental planets, with one governing practical and manual skills, and the other ruling theoretical principles. A sextile is good for studying any academic subject, taking tests and quizzes, and particularly for oral exams. Cooperative business dealings go well. Even taking short trips is favored. Children benefit from tutors, profs find eager students, and in general the teacher-student relationship is productive.
A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse hits on 5 degrees, 46′ Scorpio at 3:57 pm Thursday. Mars and the Sun loosely oppose Moon and Saturn, with a sextile to Neptune in Pisces, hmmm. Sounds like a good time to shoot yourself in the foot, you know what I mean? An irresistible force (Mars) meets an immoveable object (Saturn) and somebody could get hurt (Neptune). Try luring the “object” away from its immoveable position with a sunny smile and an invite to neutral ground, possibly a place with a water feature like a waterfall or pool.
Mars at 4 degrees Taurus sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 9:47 pm Friday. Mars-Neptune aspects are never very good for ordinary robust athleticism, however if one trains oneself in fields that modulate one’s energies, with rhythm or done to music, then one can perform very well, and with stamina. Examples are dance, tai chi, swimming, yoga, etc. Also good for poetry, ideals, and artistic skills in general.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 14-20, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Sweet Venus enters its home of Taurus with a sigh of relief at 3:25 am Monday. She tiptoes thru the door and up the stairs to slide in between some soft sheets on a poufy mattress. Let her sleep a bit late today, shall we? Venus in Taurus has a talent for picking up lovely things, but needs to get the hang of sharing them, such as by setting a table with her Waterford crystal and silverware, or loaning an item for a weekend. At the same time, they are genuine in their affections, but note that platonic love is not generally in their vocabulary. They are generally rather talented in music or other arts and have a lovely speaking voice. Famous people with Venus in Taurus include: songbird Doris Day, composer Richard Wagner, Bobby Darin, Ann-Margret, conductor Otto Klemperer, Sir Paul McCartney, and Prince Edward.
The Sun at 26 degrees Aries is conjunct Mars at 8:20 pm Wednesday. That’s on a critical degree, so this warlike aspect might have a lot more punch in world events today. On the personal level, you need to work off that energy in games or sports. On another level, this is a very ambitious aspect. Aries wants to be Number One anyway, and with that push from Mars, they can vault over anyone in their way.
Mercury at 9 degrees Aries is conjunct Uranus at 5:20 am Saturday. What an electric combination! This aspect is great for buying new items of a mechanical or electronic nature, such as cars, computers, appliances, etc. On a personal level, we may receive news that shocks or surprises us in some way, or we may feel like kicking over the traces and getting free of the daily rut. See my article on an electional chart for a car purchase.
The Sun enters Taurus at 7:48 am Saturday. Ah, Spring is finally here for real when both the Sun and Venus are in Taurus, when the Bull sniffs fields full of flowers, and the cows are led to mountain pastures for the summer. Taurus likes to be comfortable; just check out the hollow where he/she usually sits in the most comfortable chair. Taurus aims to accumulate material comforts and security; these are important to him/her, and Tau just never settles down if those things are not coming forthwith. Usually gifted with common sense. Flaws include stubbornness, over-eating, and laziness when not doing physically-demanding jobs. Famous people with Sun in Taurus include: Barbra Streisand, Andie MacDowell, William Shakespeare, Fred Astaire, Carol Burnett, Queen Elizabeth II, Audrey Hepburn, and Roger Hornsby.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 7-13, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mars and Venus are conjunct at 19 degrees, 58′ of Aries at 12:58 am Sunday. There’s a whole slate of possible effects this conjunction can bring, and the aspect gains added strength because of the fact that the New Moon on Wednesday is virtually on top of the same degree. On one hand, it can mean arguments about money, or arguments with loved ones – especially if it occurs in a money house. It can mean meeting your knight in shining armor, or someone who resembles one, anyway. It can mean good manners, with a dash or two of chivalry. In games and sports, it can bring high energy along with fair play and a sporting attitude – don’t get me wrong, Aries likes to win, but he is so high-minded here that he wants to win by the rules. And of course it can bring added passion to any area of one’s life.
Pluto makes a stationary retrograde at 3:32 pm Friday at 11 degrees, 35′ of Capricorn. Pluto has to do with death and immortality, with heredity and evolution, with survival of the entity and survival of the race – this is from Dane Rudhyar, and I encourage you to look up old copies of his books. He wrote: “Another illustration, easily understandable, is presented by what occurs in trees during winter. The living fluids of trees withdraw as it were into the roots. The sap hibernates within the great womb of the soil, from which it originally emerged under the individualizing and stem-producing power of springtime. Likewise the ego consciousness of the individual withdraws during sleep into its roots and within the vast all-human wombs of the generic unconscious and of the collective unconscious.”
Stephanie Clement on SkyViewZone website also addresses the planetary stations. Of the Pluto retrograde, she says: “Be willing to go to extremes and prepared to cut away the useless in those areas of life represented by the house your Pluto is in, releasing what no longer serves you in order to regenerate your life.”
Mercury enters Aries at 10:37 pm Saturday. Mercury in Aries tends to use violent slang words like kill, slay, etc but usually in sports or in competitive business situations. Can tend to sound like a general giving orders to the troops, he is that overbearing at times. But a mature Aries personality is able to translate that call to battle, if you will, into inspiring his “troops” to make a unified effort and achieve a goal – whether that is a team goal or a company goal or whatever individual goals we have. Can be a real motivational speaker. Can be as quick and witty as Gemini. Often thinks on his feet, and this is an advantage in the military or in sports. The keyword with Aries is always leadership, whether of an army, company, or orchestra, etc. Famous people born with Mercury in Aries include: Carol Burnett, Shirley MacLaine, astronomer Copernicus, conductor Arturo Toscanini, William Shakespeare, Vincent Van Gogh, and that silver-tongued demagogue, Adolf Hitler.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
