Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 15-21, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Uranus makes a Direct Station at 12:39 pm Tuesday at 8 degrees, 35′ of Aries. A period of rebellion and non-conformity and unexpected events comes to a close – Uranus went retrograde on July 17 at 12 degrees Aries, so try to think back to events since that time which shook up your life a bit. Dane Rudhyar said that Uranus “is the power of Transfiguration – it releases Light through the personality.” On some level you may have felt like you were struck by lightning! Things were probably a bit chaotic, although a Grand Trine in water signs of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune may have eased things a bit, or may have heightened your emotional reactions to events. I know that I have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions since about that time, and look forward to things settling down. Complacency tries to lull us to fall back into our old ruts, but the work is to apply your new insights into breaking through your old limitations. There is no going back!!

The Sun enters Capricorn at 12:11 pm Saturday. Sun in Capricorn natives seem to naturally take leadership positions; they like to have some control over others, although they are not necessarily malicious in wanting power. They just like being in a position where they are not helpless against the tide of events! Sometimes they do get hung up on the respect thing, rather than focusing on getting the job done. Cappy is a natural-born organizer, and is also good at recognizing and developing organizational talents in others. Is willing to delegate. Capricorn natives seem old when they are young, and young (or at least well-kept) when they are old. They have a strong sense of duty and are self-disciplined. Famous people with the Sun in Capricorn include: Cary Grant, Joan Baez, Barry Goldwater, Artur Rubenstein, Muhammad Ali, Kit Carson, Benjamin Franklin, Danny Kaye, Rudyard Kipling, Louis Pasteur, Sir Isaac Newton, and Saint Joan of Arc.

Venus makes a Retrograde Station at 4:53 pm Saturday at 28 degrees 58′ of Capricorn. Venus will go direct again on Jan. 31 at 13 degrees Capricorn. So for these six weeks you may reconsider expressing love, or may doubt the love offered by others. You may also have trouble attracting money into your life. On the plus side, you may have a change of heart about someone, and decide you did not really understand them before. Capricorn is not what you call a forgiving or magnanimous sign, and may insist that you give only as much as you are being given. However, Venus stations represent a change in values, or a change of heart according to Dane Rudhyar. Maybe Capricorn represents “what remains” – and the Venus stations illuminate What Really Matters, and that is generally speaking NOT mere dollar signs. PS– Thursday is the worst day to ask anyone for a favor.

Also, we have a Full Moon this week at 4:28 am Tuesday, at 25 degrees 36′ of Gemini. Jupiter and Saturn remain in trine in water signs, at odds with the air and fire of the Full Moon. Vesta and Ceres remain in a paso-doble at 13 and 17 degrees of Libra this week; relationship matters retain high priority. Use this energy to tackle nagging issues with your partner.

The Sun enters your solar third house on Saturday; your writing may become more formal or you may communicate with government offices this month.

SAGITTARIUSNov. 22-Dec. 21 – Uranus goes direct in your solar fifth house on Tuesday; the key phrase here is free expression. The Sun enters your solar second house on Saturday; you attract financial success by saving a little here and there, not by a big score.

CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – Uranus goes direct in your solar fourth house on Tuesday; you may insist on your freedom from tired family traditions this year, which is all right as long as you promise to return to the fold next year. The Sun enters your sign on Saturday; you assert leadership this month, the way cream rises to the top. Just remember not to gloat too much.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – Uranus goes direct in your solar third house on Tuesday; you might find you have a knack for mind-to-mind thought transfer. On other levels, you are innovative in creating practical applications for technology, but take care not to focus on mere gadgetry that amuses only you. PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – Uranus goes direct in your solar second house on Tuesday; your ability to innovate can mean a second income from new structures you create. The alternative may be unreliable and erratic income over the long term. The Sun enters your solar eleventh house on Saturday; you lead this month but in a very messy, amorphous Pisces-like manner.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 23-29, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Ceres enters Cancer at 3 am Wednesday. Ceres seems like a natural home for that asteroid, since it is associated with nurturing and food production and preparation. You might feel the urge to preserve or freeze the last produce of the season – and that might be a very good idea, given how this year’s drought is likely to affect winter food prices! Ceres in Cancer is not as cuddly as one might expect. Instead, they are efficient caretakers, good trainers and teachers. Think of this Ceres as “Super Nanny”, not as Grandma.
Venus at 22 degrees Leo squares Mars in Scorpio at 4:48 am Thursday. Typically a stressful time for male-female relationships, although it is also known to create sexual tensions that increase interest in each other. Arguments with loved ones bring passions to the surface, and that could uh, get interesting.
We have a Full Moon at 11:19 pm Saturday with a cardinal Grand Cross: Moon (conjunct Uranus, plus Pallas retrograde at 1 degree) at 7 Aries, Sun at 7 Libra, Pluto at 4 Capricorn, Ceres at zero Cancer and also early Cancer rising if in the Midwest. Also tying in a bit more favorably or neutrally are Neptune at zero Pisces, Chiron at 6 Pisces, and Juno at 3 Sag. Moon-Uranus seems to promise that a change agent will step in, and reshuffle the deck. Watery Cancer rising and Neptune-Chiron in Pisces could indicate damage by water, possibly flooding. Cardinal-sign people will most certainly feel some effect on their lives even without a natural disaster.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 1-7, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Venus enters Gemini at 11:18 am Tuesday. Venus in Gemini is the big flirt of the zodiac, sorry Gemmy if you are tired of hearing that. Venus here does not generally like to be touched, and prefers a mental connection before getting serious about a relationship. Admirers may come in pairs or multiples, making it harder for you to make up your mind. Some famous people with Venus in Gemini include Leslie Caron, Bill Shakespeare, Ringo Starr, John Glenn, Richard Strauss, and Benjamin Spock.
Mercury goes direct at 6:11 am Wednesday at 23 degrees 51′ of Pisces. You can come out from under the covers now, honest. Mercury does not reach the degree that it turned retrograde till April 23, so you will probably be checking your work and correcting errors till then. Gotta be done. The computer ate some files? – hope you have backup. The dog ate your homework? – oh, c’mon, you can do better than that. Ignore promises made while Merc was retrograde; they won’t pan out, 9 times out of 10.
Venus at 2 degrees Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces at 9:48 pm Thursday. Do not sign contracts – someone may be scamming you. You’re attracted to get-rich-quick schemes which will not pan out. You could fall for someone who is not what he says he is.
Full Moon Friday at 3:19 pm as the Moon opposes Sun in mid-Aries. The Moon is inconjunct Jupiter and Mercury on either side of the opposition to the Sun, so I would take that to mean that you may need to brush up your skills by taking a class or two. Mercury and Jupiter are both students, with one being the higher octave of the other.
Venus at almost 4 degrees Gemini squares Mars in Virgo at 7:36 pm Saturday. Passions are aroused. This can be either good or bad, depending on how you handle it. If you fight with your mate, it can be so much fun making up. But there will be friction between you – may start a nice blaze in the fireplace, or just an aggravating brush fire.

Your Milky Way Horoscope July 10-16, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury in Leo sextiles Mars at 14 degrees Gemini at 11:28 pm Monday. You will be quite emphatic in your statements, so make sure you can back them up with Gemini facts. Also favors athletics (good hand-eye coordination), manual labor, working with heat or fire (like at the backyard grill). You’ll be busy with lots of errands, messages, and possibly crafts.
Venus in Cancer squares Saturn at 11 degrees Libra at 3:35 am Wednesday. The Venus-Saturn square can make us feel unloved, or undeserving of love, or make us withhold affection from others. It might be well to get advice from a mentor or older person, who will help put things in right perspective.
Friday features the Full Moon at 22 degrees Capricorn (opposite a Cancer Sun). It is exact at 2:40 am. The Moon’s last traditional aspect is an opposition to Venus on Thursday morn. Its last actual aspect is an uncomfortable inconjunct to Mercury in Leo about 7 pm Thursday. The main issue is feeling that we are not loved, valued and nurtured by the ones we love, and expressing our needs so that this situation does not drag on. Mercury in Leo is not shy about the latter.
Since there are not too many planetary non-moon aspects this week, we could talk about the asteroids a bit. Ceres moves into Aries on July 12. (It will trine Sun in Leo on July 24.) Ceres might not like the dry heat of Aries this month; let’s hope that farmers have enough soil moisture to get thru this transit without damage to crops. Ceres retrogrades back into wet Pisces in August and remains there thru the harvest season. That suggests the crop will be abundant, tho I hope that fields will not be too wet to harvest. On the personal level, people will crave plenty of Tex-Mex spicy foods while Ceres is in Aries, so keep a supply of fresh salsa on hand. Cooking with fire will have a special attraction, too, keeping the grill busy on a daily basis till your charcoal supply runs out. Ceres in Aries is constantly busy and possibly too helpful. Ceres in Pisces is very intuitive, sometimes religious, and loves to take care of her loved ones.
Pallas is retrograding from 12 degrees to 5 degrees Aquarius this month. Pallas in Aquarius is adept at applying practical knowledge in a practical way; she also enjoys group projects which may be humanitarian in nature.
Juno is transiting the last decan of Virgo this month until it enters Libra July 28, when it will oppose Ceres in Aries. Juno in Virgo is extremely fair-minded, also just about phobic when it comes to dealing with germs. So if you are attending a Virgo cookout, you can trust that the food has been prepared and handled safely. Juno in Libra insists on equality in relationships. The opposition at the end of the month says it might be wise to use more caution about food safety.
Vesta is retrograding from 19 to 14 degrees of Aquarius this month. Vesta in Aquarius curbs her ego in order to (or until) complete her chores. Vesta may not be comfortable here, but she is a good teammate who pitches in to get the job done.
Chiron is retrograding from 5 to 4 degrees Pisces this month. Chiron sextiles Jupiter in Taurus most of the month, since Jupiter has such a wide orb. This suggests that healing may come from Taurean comforts like massage, or from hydrotherapies (Pisces). You might check out local spas for sample treatments, or just visit the whirlpool tub at the nearest health club.

PS – I am listing a few used astrology books for sale on Amazon Books; Part Two was posted July 1. Look for reviews in my column with a link to the listing. Even more titles to come soon. Thanks for your support (and patience). Note that the Intuition book, listed in Part One, has sold.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 30-Feb. 5, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Happy Chinese New Year! Groundhog Day is also the first day of the year of the Rabbit (aka the Cat). The Rabbit is a rather quiet person who just wants peace.
Did you realize that we have had several Full Moons at 29 degrees of a sign, all in a row? The streak started with the October 23rd Full Moon at 29 Aries; then November 21 at 29 Taurus; December 21 at 29 Gemini; January 19, 2011 at 29 Cancer; February 18 at 29 Leo. FIVE IN A ROW! The first five signs of the zodiac.
What does it mean? I talked a bit about late degrees of a sign in natal charts in another article, but this is a transit. It is worth checking out Barbara Hand Clow’s website because this is where she mentioned it. (
I think that the last degree of a zodiac, in a chain like this, points out the end of a cycle, and in turn, the beginning of a new one. Part of the ‘homework’ that we have as human beings in getting ready for the 2012-end of the cycle thing is to renew our physical (and spiritual and emotional) bodies. It is kind of like getting ready for a new calendar year in the ordinary sense.
We really have three ‘New Years’ every year. There is the calendar year, which is really only a man-made construction. There is the natural new year, when the Sun enters Aries at the Spring Equinox; we normally feel a resurgence of energy and hope at that time of year. And there is the personal new year when we have a birthday, after completing another year of life in this current shell we inhabit. We often begin a new personal cycle at that time, with each year having its own flavor or motif, you might say.
Now we are preparing for another ‘New Year’ in terms of the ‘Great Year,’ the 5,000-plus year cycle as determined by the mathematics-addicted Mayans. So you may find yourself inclined to cut back, get rid of excess stuff, downsize, and otherwise shed things and habits that belong to the old you. Some of us are being forced to do so, due to foreclosure or bankruptcy or whatever, but that is another story.
Going back to the topic of these 29th-degree Full Moons: perhaps the signs that these full moons fall in, are likely to have achieved a measure of perfection of their signs. Or are being asked to perfect the expression of their signs. In other words, Aries, who is experiencing a Jupiter transit this year, is asked to express the highest degree of leadership and pioneering energy.
Taurus is asked to express the highest degree of stewardship, follow-through, the ability to comfort themselves and others. Gemini’s job is to perfect education, information and communications, preferably in a way that is low-cost or free, and free of censorship (except for protective walls against porn). Cancer: to nurture, to provide shelter, make a home, provide security and safety, etc. Leo: to provide fun — especially for children, entertainment, and yet stability, too; to find or provide some joy in life.
That’s one interpretation, anyway. Ms. Clow offers the interpretation that: “29 Cancer is the fruition of the Goddess, the one who inspires the feminine in both men and women. The 29 Gemini lunar eclipse in December and the 29 Cancer Full Moon in January are both aspected by the asteroid Juno. During the January 17 Full Moon, Juno is in 29 Virgo, exact opposite Jupiter in 29 Pisces, which profoundly equalizes male and female dynamics; we can solve the great problems we face now by working together.” from her site at:
Mercury enters air sign Aquarius at 5:19 pm Thursday. The one end of the spectrum of Mercury here is an extremely cold and detached objectivity. The other end is a mental empathy that is aware of others’ feelings, yet communicates effectively with others in a loving way. Mercury here loves others’ unique individuality and respects them for being who they are.
Venus enters Capricorn at 12:58 am Friday. Venus in Cappy is rather dutiful, taking care of business and not spending time playing with her kids or taking them on fun outings. Venus here will take them to the library. Venus here may be a working mom, very career-oriented. Frankly, Venus in Capricorn often cares too much about social position and materialism. A higher expression of her energy here would help others to actualize their ambitions to improve themselves.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 16-22, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

The is a major or minor aspect almost every day this week. It might be pretty eventful for some people.
The Sun at 27 degrees Capricorn is sextile Uranus in Pisces (which is still in orb of a conjunction to Jupiter) on Monday afternoon. Capricorn natives can make great strides when using the internet to network, promote themselves or their work, or do research. Broadcasting is also a productive medium.
Mercury is conjunct Pluto at 5 degrees Capricorn at 12:50 am Tuesday. This is great for research, for getting to the bottom of any problem, and for persuasive communications.

The Sun is sextile Jupiter at 29 degrees Pisces at 5:39 pm Wednesday. I told you that late degrees mean you can get whatever you want from life. Pisces tends to be a weeper, tho, so stop the whining and decide what you really want to wish for, then wish with all your heart.
The Sun enters Aquarius at 5:19 am Thursday, Jan 20. Happy birthday, Aquarians, for it appears that at least a glimpse of the Age of Aquarius may occur in 2011-2012. As I mentioned in a blog entry last week, the Neptune-Pluto conjunction of the late 1960s is coming to a square this year and next. That often means that the seed that was planted on the conjunction, produces fruit on the square. It is kind of like a mushroom whose threadlike roots are always underground, and when conditions are ripe, produces the wonderful ‘fruit’ that adds so much to soups and stews. Wonder what kind of ‘fruit’ the year will bring.
Jupiter enters Aries at 12:11 pm Saturday, Jan. 22. Jupiter in Aries favors pioneering projects and trends. Fashion accessories may feature lamb and sheep motifs. And hats will make fashion statements. Keyword is leadership. Your downfall can be impulsiveness, so look before leaping.

Belgians make beer on a lunar cycle

by Milky Way Maid

While farmers and backyard gardeners with a traditional bent often plant and harvest, can food and set chickens, etc according to the lunar calendar, it is very rare for a COMPANY to do so. So it was very intriguing to come across this article today about a Belgian entity that brews beer by the moon’s cycle.

‘ “We made several tests and noticed that the fermentation was more vigorous, more active [during a full moon],” explained Roger Caulier, the owner of Brewery Caulier, which began in the 1930s when his grandfather started selling homemade beer from a handcart.’
Brewing the beer at the Full Moon not only sped up the fermentation (cutting two days off the period needed to produce a batch), it also created a stronger flavor. This is pretty amazing; if other businesses could speed up the time needed to produce a batch of beer, or any other product, it might be cost-effective to apply this technique on a larger scale.
