Happy Birthday, Cancer! The Sun enters the sign of the celestial Crab at 1:04 am Friday. The days preceding this important ingress feature a Sun-Jupiter conjunction and a Mercury-Venus conjunction (see below for more about them). On the Sunday following this ingress, we are treated to a Full Moon at 2 degrees Capricorn with lots of easy sextiles and conjunctions. As if everything else were not wonderful enough, Jupiter will soon enter your sign on Tuesday, June 25!
Native Cancerians often demand to be pampered and coddled, demand to be the emotional center of their universe, demand to have their sensitivity respected and tiptoed around – and if their demands are not met they can withdraw into their shells for a long long time. But on the other hand, they often mother others, offer a shoulder to cry on, and can be acutely sensitive to others’ needs and moods. Their empathy with others only revitalizes them, instead of sapping the energies of some caretakers who burn out. As a cardinal sign, Cancerians can be very strong-willed! Whatever type they are – active or passive – may depend very much on their early upbringing. Can be sentimental about the past, interested in history and antiques and collecting. This sometimes translates into an active interest in genealogy. Cancerians are often great cooks and gourmand eaters, which translates into an expanding waistline. Their desire for approval can lead to a career in the performing arts.
Famous Cancerians include: comedienne Phyllis Diller, author Ernest Hemingway, drummer Ringo Starr, astronaut and senator John Glenn, talk show host Merv Griffin, Julius Caesar, pianist Van Cliburn, trumpeter Louis Armstrong, songwriter Paul Anka, author Franz Kafka, Helen Keller, tennis pro Arthur Ashe, Rain, Lindsay Lohan, author Nathaniel Hawthorne, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Mars at 12 degrees Gemini is sextile Uranus in Aries at 11:20 am Monday. Positive Mars-Uranus aspects are favorable for buying or installing mechanical, electrical, or electronic hardware or software. This includes cars and computers. On a personal level, you might be restless and seek new experiences and sensations. You can break out of ruts and benefit from original thinking. Think outside the box, in other words.
The Sun is conjunct Jupiter at 28 degrees Gemini at 12:11 pm Wednesday. (See my article on late degrees of the signs.) Since famous writers sometimes have a planet at late degrees of Gemini, you might try starting that wonderful novel you have been kicking around in your head for years already. Announce to yourself, “I am a writer” and follow through. It helps if you have some other planet or point in Gemini, or something that will aspect this conjunction closely. I have a planet sextile this transit exactly, and have had several ideas for novels over the years, so maybe I oughta jump in and write this thing. Wish me luck!
Mercury is conjunct Venus at 22 degrees Cancer at 10:57 pm Thursday. According to astrologer Barbara Koval, the conjunctions of Sun, Mercury, and Venus mark turning points in the stock market, so take note of what the Dow Jones does on this day and this week. In one’s personal life, Mercury with Venus denote “words of love” as well as buying and selling. So if you have a successful yard sale, make sure to treat your honey with a nice dinner out and dancing. You have an increased sensitivity to the arts, and increased ability to see patterns in your life and in whatever area of interest you are engaged in. One caution: if shopping, you could possibly ruin your budget if your current plan is to sit on your cash.

The Sun enters Gemini at 5:10 pm Monday. Gemini natives are chatterboxes and flirts who often change their minds and work hard at avoiding deep thought. On the other hand they are light-hearted, friendly, open-minded, congenial, and able to absorb oodles of data almost at a glance. Like the other air signs, they tend to me more objective than subjective. They do tend to be rather high-strung and need to make themselves get out for fresh air and exercise to work off some nervous energy.
Gemini is the original multi-tasker, with many conversations going and several hobbies or projects underway. Sometimes holds more than one job at a time, due to the fact that they often have many talents. Famous people with Sun in Gemini include: Judy Garland, Prince Philip, Richard Wagner, John F. Kennedy, poet Walt Whitman, educator Thomas Mann, comic Bob Hope, David and Laurence Rockefeller, former Beatle Paul McCartney, “happy warrior” Hubert Humphrey, quarterback Joe Namath, Anatoly Karpov, Josef von Sternberg, John Maynard Keynes, Maurice Sendak, Dr. Oz, and Anthony Eden.
Mercury is conjunct Venus at 18 degrees Gemini at 7:54 pm Friday. Economically, this is a favorable aspect for everything from the stock market to shopping, because the symbology is that the buyer (Mercury) finds proper value (Venus) in prices, and is inclined to buy. So don’t be surprised at unusually high volume on the stock exchanges. And your items you’ve put out on your rummage sale are more likely to find a buyer, especially if this conjunction contacts natal personal planets.
We have a lunar eclipse at 12:25 am Saturday, May 25 at 4 degrees 8′ of Sag. It is accompanied by a square to Neptune in Pisces, so this will be a stressful period for natives of mutable signs. Secret places and secret info (Neptune) meet the harsh light of day (Sun) leading to anxiety, fear, confusion, etc. Also be careful of bad effects from drugs or alcohol, anything that triggers allergic reactions from you, because your system is likely to be over-sensitive during the period that the eclipse is in force.

The Sun is conjunct Mercury at 6 degrees Gemini at 7:19 am Sunday. It can be difficult to make use of Mercury when it is combust (within 8 degrees of the Sun) or under the Sun’s beams (within 17 degrees). YET when a planet like Mercury is cazimi (within 17 minutes of the center of the Sun), it can be quite powerful. “The Moon remains Cazimi for about an hour – that is, half an hour before and half an hour after the exact conjunction with the Sun (New Moon). Other things being equal, you can use the Cazimi Moon to start something if you really want it to succeed.” So there you have it – some do not see any cazimi effect but then again maybe they did not consciously pick that time to start a blog, company, or project. Mercury-Sun conjunctions are usually a very busy time, sometimes with apparent coincidences. The two Mercury-ruled signs, Gemini and Virgo, may be more affected by Mercury aspects than other signs.
Also the Mercury-Sun conjunction is in close square to Chiron at 9 degrees Pisces. Chiron could make any accidental touch injurious, so be aware of where your hands are and who is next to you or behind you. And it will definitely be better to walk away from an argument than to face charges of battery. Remember also that Mercury is applying to an unpredictable square to Mars, exact on Wednesday. Just walk away, folks. Take notes but walk away.
Mercury at 7 degrees Gemini is sextile Uranus in Aries at 7:38 pm Sunday. You find the internet useful in getting your message out. Good for posting an important blog post or news article. Or Tweet your restaurant review.
The Sun at 7 degrees Gemini is sextile Uranus in Aries at 12:04 pm Monday. Your uniqueness is expressed and finds affirmation and approval. Sudden insights can strike, turning on that light bulb above your head.
Mercury at about 14 degrees Gemini squares Mars in Virgo at 8:20 pm Wednesday. Words can literally excite you, either positively or negatively. Examples: receiving a great job offer, or being baited into a fight. You can get drawn into a debate or receive a summons in a legal case. Don’t push anyone’s buttons, not knowingly anyway.
Mercury is conjunct Venus retrograde at 18 degrees Gemini at 4:31 pm Friday. An ideal time for schmoozing with that very important contact. Mercury-Venus is good for the small talk that greases the social wheels, sharing recipes for sweet things, being charming, showing good manners. This is not anything earth-shaking but if you just need to make a contact that you hope to build into a solid network then this is the time to do so.

Can you get married in a hurry? Sun is conjunct Venus at 22 degrees Leo at 8:08 am Tuesday, Aug. 16. My parents got married on a Sun conjunct Venus, and stayed married 50 years till my father died. Venus helps you find favor with others, especially those that you love very much. Venus helps you relate in a harmonious way and exercise some diplomacy. Remember your p’s and q’s. Leo usually has strong opinions but maybe Venus helps him phrase things a bit more diplomatically.
Mercury is conjunct Venus the same day, at 7:21 pm. In the world of Wall Street and commerce in general, this conjunction represents the buyer who finds good value (Venus) for the buck when shopping for anything from books to stocks to office supplies to furnishings. Mercury with Venus is also excellent for schmoozing, the small talk and good manners that grease the social wheels– so if there is someone you need a favor or reference from, now is a great time to do it.
Sun is conjunct Mercury in Leo at 9:04 pm Tuesday. It’s a very busy time, in general, and with Leo present, someone is going to get the microphone in his face and hog the spotlight. But with Mercury retrograde, it is too easy to misspeak or get misquoted.
Mars in Cancer sextiles Jupiter at 10 degrees Taurus at 12:49 pm Thursday. Mars-Jupiter aspects favor sports, taking calculated risks, and taking advantage of opportunities. Jove adds a bit of luck so if you have natal planets touched by this aspect, take a gander with your pin money.
NEXT Sunday morning, Venus in Leo opposes Neptune at 29 degrees Aquarius at 9:39 am, Aug. 21. This is one aspect where someone may be scamming you, so do not sign any contracts now. It is fine for just enjoying the show that some performer puts on, so go to a film fest or something.
MERCURY is still retrograde; it will station direct on Aug. 26.
PS – I am listing a few used astrology books for sale on Amazon Books; Part Two was posted July 1! Look for reviews in my column with a link to the listing. Even more titles to come soon. Thanks for your support (and patience). Note that the Intuition book, listed in Part One, has sold.

Sunday, Oct. 24 features Mars at 27 degrees of Scorpio, trine Uranus in Pisces at 10:56 am. Mars-Uranus aspects favor mechanical objects, so this could be a good day to buy anything from a car, to an appliance (especially if it has sharp cutting edges), or possibly some type of sporting or exercise equipment. Uranus is still very close to Jupiter, and Jove sextiles the Moon in Taurus that evening. I’m always a little leery of Jupiter if one is buying something, because it could be far more expensive than you bargained for; so by all means carefully consider whether you get your money’s worth on a given item. You may be better off renting a piece of equipment, buying used, or offering to rent or swap with a neighbor or relative.
Mercury and Venus rendezvous for a passionate meetup at 7 degrees of Scorpio at 9:17 am Monday. This aspect is a key part of the economic cycle so investors should pay particular attention to the economic news over the weekend and on Monday. Due to the fact that this occurs in Scorpio, and the fact that Venus is still retrograde, it is likely that sales of distressed or overstock merchandise is likely to move faster than regular merchandise. On a personal level, it may become easier to express your affection with loved ones. Scorpio is often silent, but this is one time that speaking up about one’s feelings may be an absolute necessity if one’s relationship is to survive these tough times.
The Sun and Venus warm up the passions at 5 degrees Scorpio at 9:10 pm on Thursday. You might even succeed at rekindling an old flame. Who’s your sugar daddy? Scorpio, contrary to its popular image as a Lothario, is really a very dedicated romantic partner. It is a fixed sign after all, and Scorpio’s spiritual depth often translates as a long-lived relationship that deepens over time. When Scorpio wants you, he wants all of you and he wants you forever.
Mars enters compatible fire-sign Sagittarius at 2:48 am Thursday, Oct. 28. Mars here is rather strong and very interested in major league sports, plus horseback riding, fencing, and skiing.
I misspoke when I referred to the Moon being in Leo when the New Year began. I obviously erred. Please forgive me.
The Sun is conjunct Mercury in Capricorn at 2:06 pm Monday. They are at about 14 degrees Capricorn. Mercury is retrograde, and Venus is a little behind at 12 degrees. They all trine the Moon in picky Virgo. The Sun-Mercury conjunction normally creates a flurry of communications, so I expect emails, phone calls and Twitters to just fly. With Mercury retrograde, pay attention or you may miss something important!
Mercury retrograde is conjunct Venus in Capricorn at 5:39 am Tuesday. This is a very important conjunction to the market cycle, useful for fingering turns in the stock market. Investors would do well to note what happens this week, as it will likely foretell the start of either a strong bull or bear trend. Capricorn takes a very hard-headed approach to business matters, whether personal or corporate; he may decide to cut his losses or take profits. Good luck! Also both the Sun and Venus makes inconjunct aspects to retrograde Mars, the planet of debt, fees, and other things that add to the final price of a piece of merchandise or service. We might see changes in interest rates.
Venus in Capricorn is inconjunct Mars in Leo on Friday morning. This aspect reiterates the chance of a change in interest rates. We may also see a rearranging of the rankings in major sports such as the NFL, as we look to the playoffs.
Mercury is conjunct Venus on Thursday morning. This should be good news for the stock market because sellers and buyers agree on a price that reflects a decent value (a Venus word). Volume should be up. Venus buyers generally buy to hold, or at least till they have made a profit. The conjunction is in the sign of Virgo, who is usually a very discriminating shopper, so he or she probably has set a limit on how much he’ll pay for a stock. Actually Virgo prefers to work for their money so this conjunction may say something about labor agreements or the unemployment index. See also the Earth sign Grand Trine under Taurus horoscope.
