Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 22-28, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury enters Capricorn at 5:12 am Tuesday. Mercury in Capricorn is all business!! Mercury here also wants to be the Answer Man, the one who at least wants to be the one people turn to for the answers. He may even gather all sorts of factoids and expect you to be quite impressed by his knowledge, whether it is pertinent to the matter at hand or not. A more mature Capricorn personality focuses more on filling others’ need for the facts, just the facts, ma’am. Cappy needs to focus less on what he knows and more on what information he shares for mutual benefit and advancement. To his credit, Capricorn has a steady and serious mind that readily studies long and hard, and absorbs details while never losing sight of the Big Picture. Does not like to be disagreed with! Famous people with Mercury in Capricorn include: Edgar Allen Poe, Lord Byron, Louis Pasteur, Douglas MacArthur, Everett Dirksen, Barry Goldwater, Shelley Berman, Margaret Chase Smith, Richard Nixon, and curiously enough, W. C. Fields!
The Sun at 3 degrees Capricorn sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 12:06 pm Tuesday. If this contacts any natal planets, this transit can find you more disposed to entertain spiritual ideas and ideals, to meditate, to deeply enjoy listening to music, to study occult subjects like astrology or the tarot. You may also be more sensitive to others’ feelings. It’s a good time to sit quietly by a fountain or waterfall, and just listen to the babbling and burbling waters.
Mars at 8 degrees Libra opposes Uranus in Aries at 3:33 am Wednesday, Christmas Day. The personal energy of Mars needs to work off some steam, but runs up against restrictions that cramp its style. Hence the Uranus energy goes to work to break down those confining walls and strictures. Rebellion! Revolution! Stand back, everybody! You’re irritable and impatient and may lash out without planning to – or your projected resentment is directed back at you. Yes, you probably need to liberate yourself on some level, but telling off the boss doesn’t do you any favors in the long run. Creative change that is suppressed may boomerang on you as health problems OR as accidents, so do try to manage your own change. Whoa, the Moon is also conjunct Mars that night, intensifying feelings and possibly leading to heated exchange of words. Don’t let it be you that starts something.
Mercury at 3 degrees Capricorn sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 4:04 am Thursday. To me, Mercury and Neptune just do not mix well at all. Some may believe that there is room for positive growth in spiritual thought, or the use of mantras or affirmations, working with artistic imagination, intuition, etc. It may actually be helpful to focus on creative work under this transit. But frankly I think that most of us let this transit go by with an hour or a day of mere daydreaming, with nothing to show for it. Or even worse, they let some huckster rip them off with promises of all kinds of freebies and sweeteners.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 30-Jan. 5, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 9 degrees Capricorn is sextile Saturn in Scorpio at 12:45 pm Sunday. You may be honored or recognized for an accomplishment, or you may feel a quiet satisfaction over what you have accomplished in the past year. It’s OK to pat yourself on the back. You might also confer with a mentor or older person today.
Mercury enters Capricorn at 9:03 am Monday. Mercury in Capricorn is so determined to be an authority in his field that he will even maintain the pretense of knowing all the answers. He will sound pedantic and artificial, even moralistic. And that will tend to undermine his real authority unless he matures to the point of being able to share information. He can foster an atmosphere of sharing data that helps everyone to advance to a level of competence if not mastery. This Mercury is capable of concentrating an issue very deeply and at length. Has an excellent memory like his opposite sign, Cancer. If this Mercury is in good aspect with Saturn, can indicate ability in the sciences. Famous people with Mercury in Capricorn include: Louis Pasteur, Douglas MacArthur, Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater and Margaret Chase Smith.
Mars at 4 degrees Aquarius is sextile Uranus in Aries at 9:31 pm Monday. Mars-Uranus aspects can denote accidents, and the sextile means these might be lucky accidents, such as serendipitous discoveries. You are spontaneous in a way that seems inspired or even brilliant. But make an effort to get those brilliant thoughts onto paper before they evaporate.
Mercury at 4 degrees Capricorn square Uranus in Aries at 11:30 am Thursday. Mercury-Uranus aspects generally affect electrical, electronic, or mechanical items, and the square can mean repairs are due. We feel like a bit of a rebel today, and step out of our ruts. We could also get news (Mercury) that is shocking or surprising (Uranus) so hold on to your hats.
Mars at 7 degrees Aquarius trine Jupiter in Gemini at 7:46 am Friday. Mars-Jupiter trines are great ones for taking risks, although air signs might be content to merely do so on paper only. In general, people are more willing to step outside their comfort zones and test themselves against the competition. We win more than we lose in sports or gambling – but only if this favorably aspects natal planets or cusps!

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 8-14, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Hope your New Year’s celebrations were merry as well as safe.
Mercury, as I noted last week, enters Capricorn on Jan. 8 at 1:34 am. What is Mercury in Capricorn like? A negative expression is the desire to be an authority on a given subject; that sounds admirable until one does not know the answer to something and then declares he doesn’t want to be confused by the facts. But giving up a need for authority, and dropping pretense, lets this Mercury concentrate on filling the informational needs of others – and thereby becoming a true resource for all. Must guard against being too pessimistic or dour; Edgar Allan Poe is one example of someone who used this Mercury well. Others with Mercury in Capricorn are Barry Goldwater, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, and Richard Nixon.
Mercury trines Jupiter at zero degrees Taurus Sunday at 1:05 pm. This aspect favors transactions, the study of theoretical subjects like philosophy-law-religion, real estate, positive thinking and optimism.
Mercury squares Uranus at 1 degrees Aries at 6:23 pm Sunday. This aspect can be impulsive and accident-prone, so be sure to signal your intentions when driving. On the one hand you may be jittery, and on the other, your mind is working so fast you may need to jot down ideas before you lose them. Both planets are very mental, and you could latch onto insights that are more profound than you realize. That is why I suggest writing them down because an application for your insight may not occur till later (AFTER you’ve forgotten all about it).
The Sun trines Mars at 22 degrees Virgo at 11:46 pm Thursday. Favors all physical tasks and athletics. You can dig deep down for still more drive to finish or score or reach the top of that mountain.
Venus joins Neptune at 29 degrees Aquarius at 10:17 am Friday the Thirteenth. One’s sense of reality is weak, and one receive a reality check – soon– to shake these cobwebs from your eyes. One tends to be in love with love, as they say, and that dreamboat you met serves better as an object of inspiration for your creative pursuits, than for a flesh-and-blood life partner. Venus under the influence of Neptune is given to unconditional love, but without commitment – and anyway, Neptune is ill disposed to commit. One may wake up later complaining of being misled, when it turns out that one deceived oneself most of all. HOWEVER, is excellent for writing, composing, painting, acting, or engaging in any artistic field.
Venus enters Pisces on Sat., Jan. 14 at 12:47 am. Venus in Pisces is most considerate and self-sacrificing. Venus in Pisces may be most useful to the artist, musician and singer, and sometimes those who work in the other arts. Artists and performers with Venus here include Barbra Streisand, Vincent Van Gogh, George Harrison, Edgar Allan Poe, Leontyne Price, Sandra Dee, Carol Channing, and Victor Hugo. It may surprise you to know that both George Washington and Richard Nixon had Venus in Pisces, as well as Martin Luther King, Jr., and Adlai Stevenson. This Venus’ keyword or ideal is compassion, and with it, unconditional love.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 1-7, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Sunday, New Year’s Day, looks rather contentious – not a relaxing day at all. Start off with a Mercury square Mars at 20 degrees Virgo at 1:06 am for those party-goers from NY’s Eve; the Moon is square the Sun shortly after that. Words will excite you, for good or ill. Very prone to heated argument, but then there is some chance that a speech or job offer will excite you tremendously. So if you are going to propose marriage, be rather certain that the other party will accept, then rest assured she will be deliriously happy about your proposal.
However, at 10:03 am on NY’s Day, the Moon sextiles agreeable Venus at 13 degrees Aquarius, when things calm down into a pleasant brunch, hugs, house-sitting or baby-sitting, exchanging favors of any kind. A good time to ask a favor or do a favor.
Mercury in Sag sextiles Neptune at 28 degrees Aquarius 10:15 am Saturday. Nice for saying those sweet nothings to your beloved, but not great for signing contracts or stuff like that. People may have the best of intentions but not be able to fulfill promises for whatever reason, so that is why you prefer not to do personal business at this hour. On the other hand, it supports constructive dreaming– what would you ideally like to do, what kind of atmosphere would you like to have at your place of employment. Dream up a castle in the air, then figure out how to put a foundation under it. You might also use a chant, affirmation, or other little mental trick to help you achieve your goals or overcome personal mental blocks.
Mercury enters businesslike Capricorn at 1:34 am Sunday, Dec. 8 ( or at 10:34 pm Saturday, Pacific Time). Yes, I am jumping the gun, because there are so few outer planets aspects this week. Your Milky Way Horoscope Jan. 9-15, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Happy New Year of 2011 to you, in case I forgot to say that. We are sliding towards 2012 more and more quickly it seems, without a lot of time to sit and figure out what 2012 is supposed to mean, if anything. I have been re-reading some of Barbara Hand Clow’s books, like Catastrophobia and The Mayan Code, both of which touch on the Mayan calendar although the latter is much more focused on that.
The current Mayan year actually runs from Nov. 3, 2010 to Oct. 28, 2011 (according to the Calleman version of the Mayan calendar). It is Day 7, or Heaven 13, called Fruition. It is a 360-day year, even though the Maya also had a 365-day year for agricultural purposes so they would know when to plant.
So that brings up the question why did the Maya have a 360-day sacred year (as did several other cultures) when they ‘knew better’? My answer is that the circle has 360 degrees, that’s why. The sacred circles of the year were far easier to calculate and track by using the 360-degree circle, like any good geometry student. The astrology wheel has 360 degrees, and the fact that the earth year has 365 and a quarter days is no reason to change it.
Mercury sextiles Neptune about 3 pm Monday, and then squares Uranus in Pisces at 7:13 pm. Neptune is often tricky to use, but here I think that manual or writing dexterity may be helped by this aspect. Artists may find the brush works better for them, or dancers may find it easier to learn a routine. The square to Uranus is also tricky, but if you are lucky, you may have a knack for coining a phrase or gaining insights (possibly accidentally).
Mars sextiles Jupiter at 7:35 pm Thursday, helping spread an appetite for risk and (sometimes) some luck ensuing from that risk. Most of us will be content to try a new spin on our ice skates or ski boards.
Mars leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius at 5:41 pm Saturday. The flavors of the week may change during the NFL playoffs on the following Sunday, with a few surprises in store for the pundits. Mars here is very at home with team sports and team efforts, and some teams may belatedly gel their offensive efforts for the winning points.
BTW if you would like to read a bit about the Jan. 4 eclipse, try this link to the AstroAmerica newsletter. http://www.astroamerica.com/astroamericanewsletter.pdf If you click on this after Jan. 8, you will find the Jan. 4 edition in the Archives (click on archives to select a date). Eclipse path he says is from western Africa to Scandinavia to Russia to Mongolia. Peak seems to be in Sweden, and that is apropos because Sweden is in the news due to hubbub over Wikileaks founder. Sweden’s 1523 chart puts Pluto at 15 Cap – very near the eclipse degree of 13 Capricorn.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 28- Dec. 4, 2010

By Milky Way Maid

Venus enters Scorpio at 7:33 pm Monday, Nov. 29. Venus is not really at home here, mainly because Scorpio is a bit too possessive for her taste. Her first aspect is midday Wednesday when she sextiles Mercury in Capricorn. This is a good aspect for taking care of business, selling off items you no longer need, pruning old business files, and also sending your thank-yous for your business in 2010.
Mars in Sag squares Jupiter in Pisces at 9:51 am Monday at 23 degrees. Mars-Jupiter aspects have to do with taking risks, and also tend to favor athletic efforts. The square requires an extra effort, perhaps a second effort. So don’t get down; the game isn’t over till the final whistle.
Mars in Sag squares Uranus in Pisces at 9:01 am Friday at 26 degrees. This can cause all manner of accidents, injuries, and mechanical or electronic interruptions. Just be careful out there, and everyone will get where they’re going with plenty of time to spare.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
