Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 1-7, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury at 27 degrees Scorpio sextiles Mars in Virgo at 11:35 am Tuesday. One can use one’s verbal skills (Mercury) to convince (Mars) others of the correctness of your opinion. Mental and physical energy can be high, easily outpacing that of co-workers, so you might be better off working alone at your own quick tempo. Good for sports that require eye-hand coordination, or for crafts and skilled labor. Note that this Mars is very, very nit-picky and will split hairs to make a point, since it is in Virgo.
Mercury enters Sag at 9:42 pm Wednesday. Bear in mind that Mercury is in the sign of its detriment in Sag, since it rules the opposite sign Gemini. That means that while the mind may be nimble here, the conclusions it draws may be quite careless of the facts. The mind is in other words, too prone to hasty conclusions. Theories may have no or too few facts to back them up. Nevertheless Sag is very inclined to self-righteous pomposity in presenting his conclusions as obvious fact. Powers of concentration can be weak, and memory can be unreliable. However, this Mercury can be very blessed with accurate hunches. Tends to be unfailingly honest, often blurting out what he thinks without couching his words in gentle consideration of others’ feelings. Famous people with Mercury in Sag include: opera singer Joan Sutherland, author Rudyard Kipling, Joan of Arc, Frank Sinatra, J Paul Getty, author J D Salinger, Charles de Gaulle, John Osborne, and playwright Eugene Ionesco.
Mercury at 2 degrees Sag squares Neptune in Pisces at 4:31 pm Friday. Call this the perfect wrong-way Mercury, who sets out for his destination and winds up 100 miles away at a gas station, calling the auto service for directions. One can be extra sensitive to other people’s emotions, even empathetic or psychic. Might even feel kind of spacey, so it might be best to let someone else drive. Will need to make an extra effort to make sure messages are clearly understood. Can be extra sensitive to music or art, too, so it might be a good day to visit a gallery or museum.
Mars enters Libra at 3:41 pm Saturday. This ingress is of another planet into the sign of its detriment – recall that Mars rules the opposite sign Aries. This Mars can be almost militant about maintaining peace at any price, sometimes squelching dissent to maintain the appearance of harmony. In a mature Libra, this Mars is good at initiating contact to air differences. Only then can a peace based on truth be established. Can be outraged at injustice – and frequently outraged! A born protester. Can make a good judge if disciplined and self-controlled. Mars in Libra is good at weighing the merits of both sides of an argument or legal case, and drawing a fair judgment. This Mars can be either very good or very bad!
Famous people with Mars in Libra include: rocker and peace protester John Lennon, actor Richard Burton, Johnny Carson, golfer Arnold Palmer, Paul Tillich, religious rebel Martin Luther, authors Edgar Allen Poe and Percy Shelley, playwright George Bernard Shaw, and Francoise Sagan.
In late November, two asteroids changed signs. Vesta entered Libra and Pallas entered Virgo. By now their effects should make themselves felt. See notes in each sign.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Oct. 27-Nov. 2, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Retrograde Mercury at 13 degrees Scorpio is conjunct Saturn at 4:48 pm Tuesday. You may have a tough go of it slogging thru college study material, but hang in there because your efforts will pay off in the end. Because Mercury is retrograde, what you learn or decide may be redone or rethought or taken back. Scientific methods need to be checked against a master “cheat sheet” of some kind.

Mars at 9 degrees Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn at 6:45 am Thursday. This aspect may make it possible to dig down deep for a second effort on the ball field. It will be like accessing a supercharger!

Friday, November 1 is top-heavy with aspects:

Uranus at 9 degrees Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn at 7:13 am. This square can bring deep and radical changes – a bit like getting radical surgery for cancer, altho some cases may really require such drastic procedures. Some people with natal talents can psychically diagnose illnesses (whether physical or psychological).

Retrograde Mercury at 10 degrees Scorpio sextiles Mars in Virgo at 8:03 am. Mercury sextile Mars can bring a job offer that excites us, or anyway some message that is very exciting. There can be heated arguments or formal debates under such an aspect, or even lawsuits. With the retrograde, something may be wrong with a legal summons or contract, something that could require a do-over.

Sun at 9 degrees Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 1:02 pm. We may be called upon to rise to the occasion, be presented with some challenge that requires we dig down to be a tower of strength for others.

Sun at 9 degrees is conjunct Mercury at 4:16 pm. Sun conjunct the retrograde Mercury is a significant point in the economic cycle, so pay attention to what happens on Wall Street or at the Federal Reserve.

Mercury at 9 degrees Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 6:46 pm. Mercury with Pluto can be an obsession when great powers of focus get fixated on relatively minor items. It’s great for research and detective work of any type, be it medical, legal, criminal, or scientific.

Looking ahead, a Solar Eclipse occurs on the Full Moon at 11 degrees 16′ Scorpio, at 7:50 am Sunday, Nov. 3. The day is filled with easy conjunctions and sextiles, plus the lights are trine Jupiter. Things should be looking up for most people, especially natives of the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). The Pisceans may be considering surgery or other medical interventions, given the fact that Chiron is in close aspect with the Full Moon.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – Juno in your sign is pulled into the web of planets and asteroids at 8 to 10 degrees of the signs. You may drive a family member to and from a hospital visit, for example, or coach him through post-op exercises. Your mate’s appearance in a news story gives you a warm feeling of pride. Aquarius Halloween costume: Marie Antoinette or Napoleon.

PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – Chiron in your sign is pulled into the web of planets and asteroids at 8 to 10 degrees of the signs; you may be either the patient or the practitioner, but in any case the medical issues addressed affect your life a great deal. Work and career matters see an uptick late in the week with the arrival of a consultant or advisor. Pisces Halloween costume: Mother Nature, or Arnold Palmer.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 15-21, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury at 11 degrees Libra opposes Uranus in Aries at 2:41 am Monday. Mechanical and electronic items can go awry. However, the mind can work at incredible speed under this aspect, and other people will seem as slow as molasses. Thoughts can be scattered and easily lost, so it would be good to keep a notebook or notepad nearby to anchor your thoughts onto. One’s mind may only be able to make an overall survey of a topic or subject (such as astrology or electronics or some technical subject) but just a glance can yield a brilliant insight. Yet – your mind can skip around and so you forget to carry the two, or some such basic task as that.
Mercury at 13 degrees Libra sextiles Mars in Leo at 3:17 am Tuesday. This is good for skilled handwork, technical work, or even sports where the hands are important for catching that ball! Mercury and Mars together often spell debate also, so remember to respect the other fellow’s point of view even as you try to convince him/her of the correctness of yours.
Venus is conjunct Saturn at 8 degrees Scorpio at 4:54 pm Wednesday. Those who are in a serious romantic involvement may decide to formalize (Saturn) it with an engagement – or break things off if the other party is not willing to make a commitment. This aspect reflects the opposite ends of the spectrum of romance. On the one hand a relationship begun under it may well last for decades – and on the other, existing relationships may see separations often due to the demands of a job or college or something of the sort. It can be difficult to speak of love, altho much easier to do the deeds that express one’s commitment to the other person.
Venus at 8 degrees 59′ Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 9:49 pm Wednesday. This is good for romantic relationships to take steps toward a deeper knowledge of each other. You go right past the superficial and probe deep into the psyche and motivations of the other person. It also favors improving one’s financial position by getting and taking advice from a large bank or possibly from an insurance company (Pluto). Pluto also represents the mob, altho I cannot possibly recommend getting a loan from a mobster!
Mercury at 16 degrees Libra squares Jupiter in Cancer at 10:21 pm Thursday. You can dream big, take the long-range view, and utterly forget the picky details of getting from Point A to Point B. Adverse aspects between Mercury and Jupiter can make it difficult to do well in school or in college; it can also affect one’s ability to contact people of influence. The square sometimes coincides with EXAMS, requiring EFFORT to prepare for and pass said tests. Since this aspect occurs on the day of the New Moon, it may be that some of us deliberately challenge ourselves by enrolling in a class or starting some new brainteaser game-playing habit.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 2-8, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Venus at 26 degrees Cancer squares Saturn in Libra at 3:43 am Monday. This may sound funny, but this aspect is not comfortable with just taking the money and running. This Venus prefers to earn her money and pay her own way. Crazy I know, but you can still reward her with a nice dinner together at the end of a hard-working week.

Mars at 7 degrees Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 7:05 am Monday. Mars plus Pluto is a dynamo of unflagging energy who can move a mountain. So take aim at your personal mountain and dig in. Mars also trines Chiron in Pisces this week, so you may have some minor surgery (such as getting a boil lanced).

Mercury at 7 degrees Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn at 12:46 pm Tuesday. Mercury-Pluto aspects almost always involve digging under the surface or doing research – or just relaxing with a nice mystery novel. You can benefit from greater focus and concentration to get a job done.

Mercury at 8 degrees Virgo sextiles Mars in Scorpio at 4 am Wednesday. This may be a minor aspect but it is good for handwork and crafts, also for sports where hand-eye coordination is needed. You are probably not awake enough to do any knitting at 4 am, but you might perk yourself up with some mental gymnastics on the way to work.

Venus enters magnanimous Leo at 10:48 am Thursday. Leo seeks a great deal of approval (Venus) from others, in the form of applause or thanks or public credit. Anything less may be interpreted as rejection! A mature Leo, though, understands OTHER’S need for acceptance and approval and warmly dishes that out. The Leo Venus is able to inspire others, validate their self-worth, and inspire others to express their unique gifts. Famous Leo Venuses include: talk-show host and game-show king Merv Griffin, author William Faulkner, poet Percy Shelley, golfer Arnold Palmer, playwright G. B. Shaw, conductor Leonard Bernstein, singer and sausage baron Jimmy Dean, singer Eddie Fisher, songwriter Alan Jay Lerner, actress Geraldine Chaplin, author Truman Capote.

Mercury at 15 degrees Virgo squares Jupiter in Gemini at 8:13 pm Saturday. Now don’t exaggerate! Mercury-Jupiter squares are prone to tell tall tales, and that’s OK if everyone knows it’s fiction. And if you are on the receiving end, tell the other guy to sell that story to Hollywood.

Uranus and Pallas are conjunct all week in Aries. Arian energy is expressed in leading; Pallas is a very capable expert in whatever field she chooses. Uranus may mean discovery or “overnight success” or suddenly realizing what it is you are best at.

Venus enters your solar twelfth house on Thursday; you have greater understanding than usual, and show more tolerance. LIBRASept. 23-Oct. 22 – Venus enters your solar eleventh house on Thursday; you bring harmony into groups and give everyone a chance in the spotlight. Get health matters taken care of this week; nagging problems might need stitches or lancing or some other attention. SCORPIOOct. 23-Nov. 21 – Mars plus Pluto energy combine to help you get a great deal done Monday. Venus enters your solar ninth house on Thursday; you enjoy sharing and dramatizing philosophical insights and other ideas. CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – On Monday you are relieved when a family member receives a clean bill of health. Wednesday may be good for a game of tennis before work. Venus enters your solar eighth house on Thursday; you wish to merge with your loved one on a deeper level, possibly through working together on creative projects. A friend of yours may be able to help your mate with research midweek. Venus enters your solar sixth house on Thursday; you volunteer your services to those in uniform, possibly in an entertainment capacity. You may have to slap your mate’s hand if he wants to break the bank on home improvements.

Your Milky Way Horoscope July 22-28, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Gotta tell you about my Mercury retrograde experiences this past week. On Thursday night the 12th, the week that Merc went retro, I was all aflutter over a rather expensive item that I could not find. I cast a horary chart for my question over where it was, tho it did not really help right off. Only after the item turned up did the horary make sense. It had Pisces rising and its ruler in the twelfth. Didn’t look good for getting it back, did it? So anyway, it was a footwear item, some custom inserts, and they turned out to be in the winter boots which I had stored in the front closet. Pisces rules shoes, of course. Sometimes a chart is SO OBVIOUS and yet we still can’t get it.
Not to be outdone, computers have been giving me fits lately, too. The point where Mercury made its station, 12 degrees Leo, is near my natal Uranus, ruling computers, and also indicating my aggravation and upset. Plus Uranus also made a station on the 13th. So I was already frustrated over the lost item, and the computer assigned to me at work spent the last two weeks mostly out of commission. Now I am home on Saturday, needed to print something, and try to plug in the power cord for the printer. The plastic plug was broken, so then I had to ask myself if I had another cord or if I had to buy a new one.
The Sun enters its home of Leo at 6:01 am Sunday. Sun in Leo natives are wonderfully warm people. They have a great gift for encouraging and inspiring others. The flaws include demanding attention whether deserved or not, and taking criticism personally. Bored to tears with menial work, repetition, and detail. Affectionate, ambitious, magnetic. Famous people with Sun in Leo include: Jackie Kennedy Onassis, poet Percy Shelley, George Bernard Shaw, comedienne Lucille Ball, chef Julia Child, Casey Stengel, Paul Tillich, Dag Hammarskjold, and the dictators Fidel Castro, Benito Mussolini, and Napoleon.
Retrograde Mercury at 10 degrees Leo sextiles Mars in Libra at 6:55 am Sunday. The aspect is good for eye-hand coordination in sports or crafts (especially if they involve heat or sharp tools, like woodworking, stitchery, woodburning, cooking, etc). Ask someoen to show you how to do that craft skill you need to finish your project. Can set off minor arguments, or verbal “bullets”. You do well at debate.
Retrograde Mercury at 8 degrees Leo trines Uranus at 9:27 am Wednesday. We want to spread the word in a big way, probably via email or internet postings. But with the retrograde, we have to send out a correction 2 minutes later.
The Sun at 6 degrees Leo is conjunct retrograde Mercury at 3:57 pm Saturday. We may talk about ourselves nonstop – and accidentally blurt out something we wanted to keep secret! Also the Sun-Mercury conjunction is one of the key points in the economic cycle, so keep tabs on changes of direction in the stock market, etc.
Jupiter in Gemini squares Chiron in Pisces this week, at 8 to 9 degrees of the signs. If this contacts natal health houses, could send you to a doc for treatment. Let’s hope you get a good one, so check around for good references from friends and such.
Mars at 11 Libra opposes Pallas in Aries, and trines Ceres in Gemini. It’s too dry this summer for a lot of crops, and Pallas may decide she has to do something (Mars) about it PDQ. Couples who are chronically arguing (Mars) may decide they either have to divorce or seek counseling to salvage the good side of their relationship. I am all for getting to the root of the problems and learning new strategies for relating.

Your Milky Way Horoscope July 10-16, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury in Leo sextiles Mars at 14 degrees Gemini at 11:28 pm Monday. You will be quite emphatic in your statements, so make sure you can back them up with Gemini facts. Also favors athletics (good hand-eye coordination), manual labor, working with heat or fire (like at the backyard grill). You’ll be busy with lots of errands, messages, and possibly crafts.
Venus in Cancer squares Saturn at 11 degrees Libra at 3:35 am Wednesday. The Venus-Saturn square can make us feel unloved, or undeserving of love, or make us withhold affection from others. It might be well to get advice from a mentor or older person, who will help put things in right perspective.
Friday features the Full Moon at 22 degrees Capricorn (opposite a Cancer Sun). It is exact at 2:40 am. The Moon’s last traditional aspect is an opposition to Venus on Thursday morn. Its last actual aspect is an uncomfortable inconjunct to Mercury in Leo about 7 pm Thursday. The main issue is feeling that we are not loved, valued and nurtured by the ones we love, and expressing our needs so that this situation does not drag on. Mercury in Leo is not shy about the latter.
Since there are not too many planetary non-moon aspects this week, we could talk about the asteroids a bit. Ceres moves into Aries on July 12. (It will trine Sun in Leo on July 24.) Ceres might not like the dry heat of Aries this month; let’s hope that farmers have enough soil moisture to get thru this transit without damage to crops. Ceres retrogrades back into wet Pisces in August and remains there thru the harvest season. That suggests the crop will be abundant, tho I hope that fields will not be too wet to harvest. On the personal level, people will crave plenty of Tex-Mex spicy foods while Ceres is in Aries, so keep a supply of fresh salsa on hand. Cooking with fire will have a special attraction, too, keeping the grill busy on a daily basis till your charcoal supply runs out. Ceres in Aries is constantly busy and possibly too helpful. Ceres in Pisces is very intuitive, sometimes religious, and loves to take care of her loved ones.
Pallas is retrograding from 12 degrees to 5 degrees Aquarius this month. Pallas in Aquarius is adept at applying practical knowledge in a practical way; she also enjoys group projects which may be humanitarian in nature.
Juno is transiting the last decan of Virgo this month until it enters Libra July 28, when it will oppose Ceres in Aries. Juno in Virgo is extremely fair-minded, also just about phobic when it comes to dealing with germs. So if you are attending a Virgo cookout, you can trust that the food has been prepared and handled safely. Juno in Libra insists on equality in relationships. The opposition at the end of the month says it might be wise to use more caution about food safety.
Vesta is retrograding from 19 to 14 degrees of Aquarius this month. Vesta in Aquarius curbs her ego in order to (or until) complete her chores. Vesta may not be comfortable here, but she is a good teammate who pitches in to get the job done.
Chiron is retrograding from 5 to 4 degrees Pisces this month. Chiron sextiles Jupiter in Taurus most of the month, since Jupiter has such a wide orb. This suggests that healing may come from Taurean comforts like massage, or from hydrotherapies (Pisces). You might check out local spas for sample treatments, or just visit the whirlpool tub at the nearest health club.

PS – I am listing a few used astrology books for sale on Amazon Books; Part Two was posted July 1. Look for reviews in my column with a link to the listing. Even more titles to come soon. Thanks for your support (and patience). Note that the Intuition book, listed in Part One, has sold.
