Your Milky Way Horoscope May 25-31, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Dear Readers– Please visit the website of the National Blood Clot Alliance at StopTheClot.org to learn more about blood clots and when you might need to see a doctor about it.

Mercury at 29 Gemini sextiles Venus in Aries at 9:58 am Wednesday. This is followed by a New Moon at 7 degrees 21′ Gemini at 2:40 pm. Ooh, late degree of Aries and Gemini favors starting writing a book – any kind of book, a novel or cookbook or biography, just anything. Or if you really are not inclined to do any writing, you might take a very pleasant drive out to the countryside to see lovely signs of spring. You need to recharge your Beauty quota with scenic mountains or beach or fields. If it contacts native planets, you may find it easier to express your affection for dear ones. The Gemini New Moon will reinforce themes of communication (keeping things light, cocktail party chatter) as well as transit or travel. You may have to do more traveling for work, for example.
The Sun at 7 degrees Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces at 7:44 pm Wednesday. Any planet in combination with Neptune brings the risk of fraud or deception, but with the Sun there could indicate SELF-deception. You might be only fooling yourself if you minimize warning signs of trouble. Best to be proactive and check things out. Also a good chance of getting lost if you out looking for an address without good directions on how to get there.
Venus enters its home sign of Taurus at 9:46 pm Wednesday. Venus in Taurus likes to touch things. She likes the feel of silk, velour, polished stones or woods, and your nice peach-fuzzy face. Likes to smell the roses, too, or a bar of lavender soap, or any of zillions of small luxuries. Needs to learn to share material possessions, maybe loan out that garden tool or a book or two. Some people feel that there is no such thing as platonic love where a Venus Taurus is involved, but I am not so sure about that. Venus in Taurus is pretty conventional, preferring to marry rather than live with someone or play the field, although in later life they might feel that such rules don’t matter anymore. They want to fall in love and know that it will last forever. Has artistic sensitivities, and may be a musician, artist, or a mere collector of pretty things. FAMOUS PEOPLE with Venus in Taurus include: Doris Day, Charlie Chaplin, Richard Wagner, Bobby Darin, Ann-Margret, Paul McCartney, Hayley Mills, and Prince Edward.
Mercury enters Cancer at 5:12 am Thursday. Mercury (or the Moon) in Cancer has a prodigious memory, especially memories that are emotionally loaded. If well aspected, they are often great ones for knowing historical facts and dates. Sometimes their rational mind can be overwhelmed by emotional thoughts, so that their communication with other is at times filled with an emotional content that is not appropriate to the situation. Is capable of great emotional sensitivity and empathy, and can reach out to others in a caring way. Can be remarkably intuitive, of knowing something without knowing HOW they know it. Usually prefers to make decisions based on precedent rather than on daring innovations. Sometimes collects antiques or historical relics. FAMOUS PEOPLE with Mercury in Cancer include: actress Leslie Caron, Nelson and David Rockefeller, composer Igor Stravinsky, educator Thomas Mann, pianist Van Cliburn, singer-composer Paul Anka, Mary McCarthy.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 24-30, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 2 degrees Sag is square Neptune in Pisces at 12:53 pm Sunday. Ooh, Sun and Neptune together are not good. You might get lost when driving somewhere, and that is the least innocuous thing that could happen. Other possibilities include being scammed, getting sick with something that is hard to diagnose or pinpoint the cause of, or you could have your deep, dark secret revealed to the world in a most embarrassing way. Sun is also square Pallas in Virgo,

Mercury (direct this time) at 16 degrees Scorpio is conjunct Saturn at 8:55 pm Monday. When we last saw this aspect on Oct. 29, Mercury was retrograde. So try to recall if there were any serious discussions that day, and what the topic was. You may have more information to go on at this point, and can undoubtedly correct the data and move forward with a better plan. They are square Juno at 15 degrees Aquarius, so one partner may fluctuate between detachment and intensity, and just when things start heating up, one is called in to a work emergency. Arrgghh!! Will have to figure out a way to accommodate each other’s schedules, possibly with the aid of a personal assistant.

Mercury at 18 degrees Scorpio is sextile Venus in Capricorn at 9:45 pm Wednesday. Mercury in positive aspect to Venus turns on the charm, which includes perfect manners, compliments, sweet nothings, possibly a love note or two, etc. Even if you are normally unexpressive, you will be able to stammer out those three little words. You may be able to get a good recipe for a sweet treat, shared by a dear friend. You may take a short trip with a loved one, possibly to enjoy scenic views, or to check out early holiday decorations. Take a camera along, because the scenery may offer a memorable moment.

Mercury at 19 degrees Scorpio trines Jupiter in Cancer at 2:24 am Thursday. Mercury and Jove are both mental planets, so positive aspects favor anything related to education, any course of study or a seminar or private study. You will pick up the material very easily. On another level, the two planets together spell joviality, having the gift of gab, so that you successfully schmooze with the boss for example at the company dinner. You are also optimistic that things will work out in your life in general. You can handle even the most difficult problems with style. Buying or selling real estate or other major investments is favored, as is handling any legal matters.

Venus at 19 degrees Capricorn opposes Jupiter in Cancer at 7:01 am Thursday. In some ways this can be a sad aspect, even though the two major benefics are involved. You may be in love with someone who is far beyond your social class or otherwise unreachable, and that is truly tragic if you both decide to let love die rather than try to make it work. One can start new relationships under this transit, or look deeper under the superficial shell of the loved one. Can be a pleasant day if you avoid overdoing guilty pleasures to the point of getting sick.

The Moon is in Libra on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. We will ooh and aah at especially artistic floats in the morning parades, and later at the beautifully set table for the holiday feast. Use your best dishes and napkins to set the table, and pick up some flowers for a centerpiece. With Vesta and Ceres both in lovely Libra for the holiday, her feast is sure to be spectacular.

The Sun at 8 degrees Sag trines Uranus in Aries at 1:25 pm Saturday. Sun-Uranus aspects put the wind in your hair as you blast yourself out of a rut. You get encouragement or approval for your (possibly quirky) uniqueness, or you may make others laugh when making them see things from a different perspective. Be careful though, because the Sun is square Chiron in Pisces; don’t fall off your motorcycle! You are excited and excitable, dancing around your new toy or exploring new terrain. Possible interest in arcane subjects like astrology, computer and other tech stuff, psychology, hypnotism, or signing up for a class or session with a practitioner.

Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. NOTE: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.

ARIESMarch 20-April 19 – You get away with all kinds of shenanigans on Sunday. Early risers on Thursday have helpers to put on a special holiday breakfast; this is followed by making wisecracks about all the floats on the televised parades. Friday shopping is frustrating and work is pointless because you cannot get hold of anybody. On Saturday you crack everybody up, possibly by putting a funny video clip on the internet.

TAURUSApril 20-May 20 – Your mate may want to have a serious chat Monday night, so lend a sympathetic ear even though it may be confusing when he shifts from cool logic to rampant emotion and back again. You might elect to have your holiday dinner on Tuesday; the Moon is in compatible Virgo, and in nice aspect to both Venus and Jupiter. Thursday is not bad, but the table may be so pretty that you hate to dig in and break up the picture-perfect image. Let your mate sleep in on Saturday.

GEMINIMay 21-June 20 – You have a rather idealistic picture of the perfect holiday that you want to achieve for Thursday, but give yourself a break if it falls short a bit. At any rate, you will put in a lot of effort on Tuesday to spruce up the house and decorate. A rather serious meeting may be held at work either late Monday or early Tuesday. The holiday itself has the Moon in compatible Libra, so you keep the flow of light-hearted chatter going very easily.

CANCERJune 21-July 22 – Sunday’s preliminary seating chart for the holiday will have to be redone more than once. You may get stressed out by too many errands Monday; take a tip from Santa and make your list, check it twice. Tuesday favors showering the object of your desire with flowers, compliments and love notes. Stick to routine matters on Friday. You may have a Saturday session with a practitioner of hypnotism, Geo-Trans, or other system that blasts you out of your rut.

LEOJuly 23-Aug. 22 – The Moon is in Leo on Sunday, but is void-of-course all day; stick to routine matters. On Monday your mate addresses serious matters, which is good, but the cold logic used can be unbearable. On Tuesday you may be prevailed upon to share your secret recipe for a beloved holiday treat. Thursday is definitely a day to practice pushing yourself away from the table, lest you overdo to the point of getting sick. You laugh with pleasure Saturday when one of the kids posts a funny clip online.

VIRGOAug. 23-Sept. 22 – The Moon is in Virgo from 7:11 am Monday till Wednesday afternoon. Be careful what you eat at lunch Monday, lest you set off your allergies. You feel so unappreciated that afternoon. Love notes and compliments fill the air on Tuesday. Offers to help (with the Turkey Day duties?) come in Tuesday night. You may have to make another place at the table in return, tho. Pallas has entered Virgo, so you are probably the Ask-the-Expert that everyone calls for details on the correct way to prepare the turkey.

LIBRASept. 23-Oct. 22 – The Moon is in Libra from 5:00 pm Wednesday till late Friday. Wednesday morning finds you energized and ready to start preparations for the big day. An agent of change may walk into your life Thursday, but don’t be alarmed. With Vesta and Ceres both in your sign for the holiday, your feast is sure to be spectacular. Friday is spent ruing how you fell off your diet.

SCORPIOOct. 23-Nov. 21 – Thursday finds you in an optimistic mood, also eager to learn all there is to know about arcane subjects. The Moon is in Scorpio from 11:03 pm Friday thru the weekend. On Saturday someone may give you a good tip regarding a lucrative job opening; maybe you can sign on as last-minute holiday help. You enjoy doing puzzles or reading a mystery in the afternoon.

SAGITTARIUSNov. 22-Dec. 21 – On Monday and Tuesday the Moon is in compatible Gemini, when you probably contact everyone who is expected to attend the holiday gathering to coordinate travel and schedules. The second half of the week may find you spending as much time with friends as with relatives; perhaps there are too many miles between you and siblings this year. Stick to routine matters on Friday. A child makes you break up laughing on Saturday.

CAPRICORNDec. 22-Jan. 19 – You are too likely to get hopelessly lost on Sunday, so leave the driving to someone who has been at your destination many times. Tuesday is probably your best day of the week, with the Moon in compatible Virgo and many lovely, easy transits involving friends and your beloved mate. Thursday is sure to be a day of hustle and bustle to get the feast ready and wait on your visitors. Friday can be frustrating and it may be better to stay in rather than shop.

AQUARIUSJan. 20-Feb. 17 – Long-distance calls keep your phone busy the second half of the week. The holiday favors schmoozing with the boss, at least by making an unofficial phone call to wish him a lovely feast. Thursday is definitely a day to practice pushing yourself away from the table, lest you overdo to the point of getting sick. Saturday’s Moon in Scorpio favors shopping with the help of a friend who makes it a fun expedition.

PISCESFeb. 18-March 19 – On Sunday, you are an example of someone who does not see himself clearly, and so your ambitions could be totally unrealistic. Monday is good for facing medical test results with a cool head. Thursday may not be lucky for romantic matters. Chiron goes direct in your sign this weekend, so do be aware of safety issues re handling the stuffing of your bird, and in storing leftovers.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Nov. 3-9, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Sunday, Nov. 3 features a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 11 degrees 16′ Scorpio, at 7:50 am. The Moon is conjunct Saturn midday, but otherwise the aspects are mostly easy sextiles and trines. The Sun and Moon are sextile Mars in the early morning, and the Moon trines Jupiter at nearly midnight. The latter aspect may support the urge to expand your horizons, with Mars providing an eagerness to explore new territory.
Venus enters Capricorn at 3:43 am Tuesday. Venus has a hard time when in Saturn-ruled Capricorn. A native with this placement may be very good-looking, but the person is not comfortable with his/her looks, or does not agree with everyone else that they are indeed quite attractive. Finding their special talents may be delayed (Saturn) due to fear of failure or of social rejection. In fact, in social situations, they may be afraid of making the first move due to a fear of rejection, and when rejected, may become quite cold. This placement has a deep respect for the prevailing social and material values of society. Famous people with Venus in Capricorn include: Paul Newman, Frank Sinatra, Robert F. Kennedy, John Kennedy Jr, Caroline Kennedy, J.D. Salinger, Prince Andrew, and Artur Rubinstein.
The Sun and Saturn at 14 degrees Scorpio are conjunct at 7:01 am Wednesday. We may feel rather depressed and lonely under this aspect, but it may drive us out of our cocoons and out to some gathering place or event where we are forced to mix with others. This aspect does favor planning and organizing, or otherwise Taking Care of Business. Hey, I just remembered I once started a job on a Sun-Saturn conjunction and lost a lot of weight in that physically-demanding stint – so my recommendation is to start your most ambitious weight-loss exercise regimen on this day.
Jupiter at 20 degrees 31′ Cancer makes a Retrograde Station at 12:03 am Thursday. Jupiter’s expression is generally is a product of its society; that is, it demonstrates the values and consciousness of the world around it. So when it goes retrograde, Jupiter will tend to break away for a little while to reconsider his values as opposed to the values of the society around it. By the time Jupiter goes direct, he may adopt a whole new self-chosen way of thinking and living, one that hopefully reflects a higher level of consciousness inspired by the spirit.
Venus at 2 degrees Capricorn sextiles Neptune in Pisces at 8:16 pm Thursday. Oh, this is such a lovely, lazy aspect, good for finding shapes in the clouds as you play hookey from work or school. You wander from one daydream to another. It does favor spending time with dear ones and being wonderfully attuned to their needs (without becoming subservient). It also favors using your romantic inspirations to create exquisite works of art in any medium – poetry, music, painting, dance, even gardening.
Retrograde Mercury at 3 degrees Scorpio sextiles Venus in Capricorn at 7:24 am Friday. This aspect favors taking the pleasure drive out to the country or on some jaunt; with Mercury retrograde, you may get lost, you may have a flat tire, but you will probably also happen on the cutest antique shop or the quaintest diner. If you muddled an earlier opportunity to express your love, Merc retrograde gives you another chance to speak up, or maybe write it down in a love note.
Mars at 14 degrees Virgo sextiles Saturn in Scorpio at 6:57 am Saturday. One interpretation of Mars with Saturn is “delayed gratification.” This means that you are able to put energy into long-term projects that may not see fruition for months if not years. Another key phrase might be “sustained effort” – it’s similar to the above, but if expressed in physical energy or an exercise regimen, your energy might NOT be enormous but you can keep up a moderate tempo for a long time. It’s the difference between a springer and a marathoner. We may also have great attention to detail, with the PATIENCE to do finely-detailed work.
Retrograde Mercury at 2 degrees Scorpio trines Neptune in Pisces at 4:32 pm Saturday. People affected by this transit may find their interests turn to occult or spiritual subjects, such as past lives, developing psychic abilities, or turn your energies to creative pursuits like music, crafts or photography. You may go off on flights of fancy, so let your friends put your feet back on terra firma. You can be very sympathetic, empathetic, or even psychic. Thought transfer is easier under this aspect.
YAY, Mercury will go direct at 4:12 pm on Sunday, Nov. 10.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Oct. 14-20, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Mars at 5 degrees Sag trines Uranus in Aries at 6:33 am Monday. Mars-Uranus sounds like it would be flammable, but really this transit is a marvelous time to step out of our ruts and be open to new experiences. Just think twice before you go bungee jumping or get some weird tattoo. BTW Mars-Uranus trines are a good time to buy mechanical or electronic items. This includes cars.
We have a New Moon at 22 degrees Libra at 8:02 am Oct. 15, featuring the lights closing in on Saturn. Pallas opposes the lights at 27 degrees Aries, while Vesta is trine at 25 degrees Gemini. The lights when near Saturn are very hard-working and take their jobs or other responsibilities seriously, and avoid getting bogged down in their own feelings. The impact of the asteroids mentioned will depend on what house they occupy in your own chart.
Mercury at almost 15 degrees Scorpio sextiles Venus in Virgo at 8:31 am Tuesday. Venus in turn squares Jupiter at 16 degrees Gemini at 7:34 pm the same day. Mercury-Venus sextile can be very pleasant and relaxing, altho you relax while in motion. It is easier to express love and affection under this transit, too. So it might be a good idea to take that day trip with someone special, or at least “do lunch” together. Venus-Jupiter together are very sociable, although shopping can get out of hand!

Your Milky Way Horoscope July 1-7, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Mars was in the news last week, it seems that scientists are pretty sure that there is water locked up under the surface. Article appeared in Smithsonian magazine: http://blogs.smithsonianmag.com/science/2012/06/scientists-discover-that-mars-is-full-of-water/ Note that article appeared the week that Mars reached the degree in Virgo when it went retrograde in April.
Mars enters Libra at 8:32 am Tuesday. Hmmm, this kind of gives me pause because of what another astrologer told me years ago: “Libra is the sign of peace but it is also the sign of war.” So every time the planet of war enters the sign of war, I feel I need to take notice. It seems to me that Libra, insistent as she is on equality, will unsheath her sword when she feels she has been stepped on for too long. This Mars transit is too prone to blaming Others for any lack of harmony; however, a healthy expression of the transit is being able to honestly share what it is you want – the key word here is ‘honestly’ – then the other party can counter with a proposed swap of some kind. A Libra Mars’ sense of justice is easily outraged; fairness is extremely important now. The Libra Mars has a balanced sense of justice and finds means that are appropriate to the ends. It is also good for self-expression in the arts or in literary works. Famous people with Mars in Libra include: Abraham Lincoln, John Lennon, John Lindsey, Martin Luther, George Bernard Shaw, and Winston Churchill.
Mercury at 8 degrees Leo sextiles Venus in Gemini at 9:26 am Wednesday. Very nice for holding hands and sweet nothings. Also nice for exchanging recipes for sweet treats. May or may not be creative or artistic – depends on your talents and if it contacts natal planets, but going to a concert sure sounds nice. Don’t they have a free concert program in the parks in your area?? Try it out!
Mercury also trines Uranus in Aries at 1:53 pm Wednesday; possibly this may be a very busy day on the internet with bloggers galore posting their news, and possibly trying to get support for a collective action. Venus follows with the same aspect to Uranus at 10:36 pm, which I would think would produce very beautiful fireworks displays. Venus is also TOTALLY charmed by a stranger, possibly a foreigner; Venus could also find something of value just lying around, or receive a surprise small gift.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 29-May 5, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 9 degrees Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn at 9:34 am Sunday. Time to focus on your goals and on taking back control of your life. Use affirmations or other techniques to help you re-program your brain for what you want to accomplish.
Vesta enters Taurus at 12:48 pm Monday. Vesta in Taurus is torn between duty and personal desires. They may want one thing, and feel compelled to sacrifice themselves on an alter and do another thing. It’s a period when natives may spread themselves pretty thin doing too much – taking care of a parent, for example, while working in a demanding career. Or a native may cancel a vacation to take over a soup kitchen in an emergency. They enjoy baking bread and being a real Earth Mother.
Mercury at 21 degrees Aries sextiles Venus in Gemini at 11 pm Thursday. It becomes easier to talk about your affection for another person – holding hands is fun. We enjoy a leisurely drive to see spring color. Recharge your batteries by visiting nature or indulging your creative side – the hands (Mercury, Gemini) are more adept and skillful.
We have a Full Moon at 11:35 pm Saturday. The Sun-Moon opposition is not exact at the time the Kentucky Derby is run that afternoon. However, the Mercury-Saturn opposition at 24 degrees Aries/Libra is in effect all day. I think the experts (Saturn) will see the results of the race come out very different from what they expected. The news (Mercury) will be totally different from what they projected; expect the unexpected. I have given up putting out my analysis of this race, since there was little interest in it.
And that Mercury opposition to Saturn I mentioned above. This kind of opposition is where your way of thinking runs up against a brick wall. You’re told everything you ever believed is wrong, wrong, wrong. However, is great for finding a tutor, professor, or mentor who has a LOT to teach you. You’ll hate this aspect, but you will learn so much you would have ignored otherwise.

Your Milky Way Horoscope March 25-31, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Yes, I am a wee bit later than usual in getting this week’s column out. Just needed a time-out. Will also try to get the following week’s column on time – that is, no later than Tuesday.
The Moon is conjunct Jupiter at 12 degrees Taurus at 6:02 pm Sunday. A Moon-Jupiter conjunction makes all that feel-good stuff fill our inner bucket and splash all over everyone in the same room with us. Can be actual euphoria, or just a quiet feeling of well-being, and trust in the future. In Taurus, it often means that the Taurean likes too much of a good thing – now, if they can resist gobbling up the whole plate of goodies, they will insist you try a wee bite of same. Oh, and if you go grocery shopping under this aspect, don’t be surprised if you go in for just bread n milk, and come out with five bags of the most tempting gourmet offerings.
Mercury at 25 degrees Pisces sextiles Venus in Taurus at 1:43 pm Thursday. Mercury and Venus in pleasant aspect denote charm, small talk, good manners (please and thank you), asking favors of others, compliments, and the recipe for the sweet treat that you take in to work. Very good for scheduling a luncheon for any purpose, with any one. Generally the tone is quite light so don’t ruin it by pushing a hard sell. Your purpose should be to grease the social wheels – and the rest should take care of itself.
The Sun in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn at 3:56 pm Thursday. Sun-Pluto squares generally signify a power struggle between the self or ego against the powers-that-be. It is time to see what we are made of – digging deep down for the strength to resist. Pluto represents mass movements – the creation of labor unions, the struggles of the masses to gain or assert their rights as human beings. We cannot win by fighting alone; we have to join with those who share our situation and know what we stand to gain or lose.
Here’s a difficult aspect to interpret: Venus at 27 degrees Taurus inconjunct Saturn in Venus-ruled Libra at 2:24 pm Saturday. This could operate as a mutual exchange – of sorts. Saturn exalted in Libra, in aspect to Venus which rules both signs. Inconjuncts point to adjustments, sometimes creative ones like when we re-arrange the furniture. Saturn is the experts, the pros, the odds-makers and taste-makers. Venus is our ideas of beauty and fashion. The taste-makers may change their opinion of what constitutes true beauty. Could we possibly see models who are not so skeletally thin as they are at present? Will a popular fashion gain official approval and adoption by designers and stylists? Stay tuned.

A gift to my lovely readers —
