Saturn at 23 degrees 19′ Scorpio makes a Retrograde Station at 11:19 am Sunday. Saturn is the “reality check” planet. Saturn retrograde can make you feel like you are never good enough; you may become so pessimistic that you get stampeded into rash actions out of desperation. Take your time during Saturn retrogrades when it comes to making a decision or arriving at a strategy for the future. More information is forthcoming yet, and you are really still in the data-gathering mode. The retrograde period is a time when you may be forced to build a solid foundation for your life, if that was not something that was properly done in childhood. You may have to finish something that was left undone, or be forced to take responsibility for something. Things seem to grind to a halt until that Unfinished Business is taken care of.
Venus at 27 degrees Capricorn squares Mars in Libra at 3:04 pm Sunday. The square between Venus and Mars often translates as physical attraction, or sometimes sexual tension if there is some obstacle that keeps two people apart. It is important to apply mutual consideration and possibly compromise so that both entities can get something out of an encounter. This transit occurs in the late degrees of the signs, so it may be that one of them is the offspring of the owner of a large business, and the other one has hopes of climbing up the ladder of success via a propitious marriage. We shall see.
The Sun at 13 degrees Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 2:13 pm Monday. This transit favors what they call “embarking on a journey of personal transformation” and for creating order out of chaos. You may get deep into reading about esoteric subjects like psychology, meditation, yoga, astrology, numerology, etc.
Venus enters Aquarius at 4:03 pm on Ash Wednesday. Venus in airy Aquarius likes to spread love around in the sense of agape, a non-romantic kind of brotherly love for all humanity. Aquarians can be very sentimental, though! And because this is a fixed sign, natives of the sign often remain married to their mates for a lifetime. This is NOT the sign of the swinger! Having said that, Venus in Aquarius represents being able to love and appreciate others in an impartial way. It can also express itself in immature personalities as eccentric behavior in an attempt to maintain his or her freedom. But if Venus is well-aspected, the native can be very idealistic about love.
Famous people with Venus in Aquarius include: John Steinbeck, Henri Matisse, Arturo Toscanini, Lady Bird Johnson, Dick Van Dyke, Earl Warren, Frederic Chopin, Sammy Davis Jr., Franklin Roosevelt, Edward Albee, Muhammad Ali.
Jupiter makes a Direct Station at 10 degrees 27′ Cancer at 5:42 am Thursday. During the retrograde period, we may rethink our role in the society or culture we were born into. We may start to take a broader view, even a global view. At least for a while, we are able to break from routine and consciously choose a new way of thinking and doing things. When Jupiter goes direct, we may carry these new insights along with us and incorporate them into our daily lives – or not. That’s the choice we all make.
As you can see, three planets change direction this month – Saturn and Mars go retrograde, and Jupiter goes direct. Saturn and Jupiter are in water signs, so natives of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces may get whiplash as events gyrate back and forth.

The Sun enters Pisces at 7:02 am Monday. Pisces like the other mutable signs has no definite nature, so that the natives of this sign take their appearance and personality from stronger planets and signs in their natal chart. However, some things can be said of them as generally true. They often have a victim-savior complex (aka martyr-messiah), playing either or both roles to perfection. They may become determined to “save” someone who does not need saving, thank you very much. However, they often are able to soothe troubled souls and animals just by being there. Pisces can be very observant without even trying. They master the art of being everyone’s favorite. Famous people with Sun in Pisces include: Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Gleason, Frederic Chopin, the late senator Edward Kennedy, Tricia Nixon, Sidney Poitier, Rex Harrison, playwright Edward Albee, Beatle George Harrison, Rudolph Nureyev, both Princes Edward and Andrew of England, Pierre Renoir, and Pope Pius XII.
Saturn has its retrograde station at 12:03 pm Monday, at 11 degrees, 32′ of Scorpio. Saturn will be retrograde until after the Independence Day holiday. Dane Rudhyar felt that Saturn stations gave one the opportunity to exercise the will, establish boundaries, study moral teachings, and learn from old patterns or traditions. As Rudhyar states, “The king makes the new laws, but the old laws make the king.” So law tends to perpetuate itself even when new laws replace old commandments. Dane also went on about how one’s name is synonymous with the Will, but I differ with him on that. (I think that the name is the Sun, and the Will is Saturn.)
Another astrologer – and I apologize for not having notes on where this is from – says that during the Saturn retrograde, we may be forced to restructure payment schedules or any other schedules, organizations, programs, procedures, and so forth. Retrograde periods are good for completing something left undone. You may be forced to learn hard lessons either on taking responsibility or on not taking on duties that do not belong to you.
The Sun at 2 degrees Pisces is conjunct Neptune at 2:19 am Thursday. Here we go again, Pisces is spacey enough without a Neptune conjunction, y’know? I am trying to be light-hearted about this, but the fact is that some of us may be hard-pressed to keep ourselves in the moment and firmly connected to reality and our to-do list. If we need a break or a nap, fine, take your break or the nap. Take care of yourself, then make a list of what you need to do and when you need to do it – go from there.
Mercury at almost 20 degrees Pisces has a retrograde station at 4:41 am Saturday. Well! Mercury in Pisces is spacey anyway, and toss in a retrograde and you have trouble, my friends! Oh, I am trying to take these Mercury retrogrades lightly, since they happen so often and actually, you can get them to work for you in some ways. Like, clean out that drawer or closet and find buried treasure! Or “do over” some project and do it right this time. We have to check up on our assumptions, which may be totally off-base from reality, find the errors in our math or in the bank statement, use a different formula, find an old book that is truly amazing, find out new info (some of which we were not supposed to find out, tee hee).

Saturn goes retrograde at 29 degrees Libra at 9:03 am Tuesday. It will remain retrograde until June 25 when it will be at 22 degrees, 46′ of Libra. The interpretation of this change in direction depends on what house in your chart Saturn rules. In other words, look at where Capricorn is, what house is it on the cusp of? If it is say, fourth house, then matters related to home and family will not proceed smoothly. Perhaps it will not be a good time to try to buy a new house, nor renovate the home you presently reside in.
The Sun is conjunct Mercury at 4:02 am Tuesday, at 16 degrees Aquarius. This is also a Full Moon day (Sun opposite Moon), so it should be interesting re the economy. You may have trouble sitting still today, but when you do, you can concentrate on details and clear the inbox of messages. Logic suffers due to the opposition to the moon, although it can be helpful to consider the emotional impact of your words.
Venus enters Aries at 1:01 am Wednesday. Venus in Aries wants to retain a measure of independence in her relationships. The Aries Venus can be competitive with loved ones, an attitude that can confuse and alienate the ones she loves. On the plus side, a healthy Aries Venus is a real self-starter in social situations, introducing herself, inspiring others, helping others become self-reliant. Venus in Aries also favors one’s talents in the hairstyling profession.
Thursday is a hot day for romance: not only does Venus conjunct Uranus at 2 degrees Aries, but the Moon also joins Mars about midnight. (The Moon later opposes Venus-Uranus on Friday evening.) Venus-Uranus can strike like lightning. One is strongly attracted to unusual people, those who are foreigners, bohemian types, or rebels. This kind of meeting may or may not signify a lasting bond (usually quite the opposite); it all depends on the synastry in the charts of the two individuals involved.
The asteroid Pallas Athena enters Pisces at 12:05 am Sunday, Feb. 12. Pallas is not really comfortable in such a feeling, spiritual sign like Pisces. Pisceans may be quite stressed and torn between the influence of Neptune in their sign (bringing out latent spiritual and humanitarian values) and the very practical, very self-controlled Pallas. Pallas might allow herself to respond to music, and that is about it for her. Pallas remains in Pisces until about mid-May, then the Neptune influence can begin to express itself more freely and openly.

Venus in Sag sextiles Saturn in Libra at 2:19 pm Sunday. Venus and Saturn combine pleasure and duty very well; you might say that duty is a pleasure. Attend to obligations with a light and willing heart.
Saturn goes retrograde at 1:10 am Wed., Jan. 26, at 17 degrees 14 minutes Libra. Saturn will be retrograde till almost mid-June. Wednesday looks fraught with conflict and even argument, and see the following aspect for more chills and thrills the same day. Confusion will probably last into Thursday under a Moon-Neptune square and a trine to upsetting Uranus. I don’t know what is in the works here, but it sure looks like a lot of people will not be happy about it.
Mercury in Capricorn squares Saturn the same morning, at 4:58 am. This can definitely create obstacles and frustrations in communications. Perhaps you cannot reach the person you need to speak to, or satellites and servers are down. Patience, patience.

The Sun is conjunct Venus on Monday afternoon at 20 degrees Capricorn. This is not a very romantic sign for this conjunction, but it does emphasize family, genealogy, tradition, and history. Perhaps a couple enjoys working on family history together, researching online records or historical society artifacts. Perhaps a family business is born, one that allows the parents to carve out time with their children.
Venus sextiles Uranus early Wednesday at 23 degrees Capricorn/Pisces. An online romance may blossom. Some of us may be able to find customers using the internet auctions or other web sites. You may attract unusual people into your life, possibly creative types, and may hit upon unusual ways of expressing yourself in the arts or music. Unexpected or exciting things may come into your life, up to and including a windfall. This Venus-Uranus aspect also ties into the Nodes at 21 degrees of Cancer/Capricorn, and Neptune at almost 25 degrees Aquarius. So the opportunity is there for events to push you along on a path of spiritual development.
Rah, Mercury goes direct on Friday, Jan. 15, at 11:52 am at 5 degrees 35 minutes of Capricorn. As always, be cautious for about three days before or after a Mercury station, as this is often when people get their signals mixed or accidents happen. But hopefully you have used the retrograde period to learn more about a situation or person, and reassess.
Saturn also makes a station (retrograde) at 10:56 am Wednesday at 4 degrees 39 minutes of Libra. It will remain retrograde till late May. Natives of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) will likely be even more frustrated than before. You are normally one who likes to get things done and get it done quickly, so being told to come back tomorrow (or do it over) is going to drive you bonkers. In patience possess ye your souls.
Readers can follow not only their Sun sign horoscope but also the sign of their Ascendant for further clues to how your week will develop. Also note: some aspects are exact on a weekend but may find opportunity for expression on the Friday or Monday nearest the exact aspect. Times given are in Eastern Standard or Eastern Daylight Savings Time depending on the season.
ARIES – March 20-April 19 – Saturn makes a station in your solar seventh house on Wednesday; marriage and other partnerships can be tested. Whether it is best to not see each other for a time, or actively work on the relationship with things like counseling or marriage enrichment, is up to you. But developing empathy and accepting imperfections should be uppermost. Matters related to career may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday.
TAURUS – April 20-May 20 – Saturn makes a station in your solar sixth house on Wednesday; your health may be a concern at least until it goes direct again in late May. Take steps to guard your health, because worry and anxiety can drain your energy and deplete vitamins. Get back on a proper regimen of rest and exercise to maintain energy levels. Matters related to higher education, law or publishing may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday.
GEMINI – May 21-June 20 – Saturn makes a station in your solar fifth house on Wednesday; creative projects may stall or you begin researching the history of one of the arts. Writers may get writers’ block; parents may begin to look upon their children as burdens. But you are forced to delve into the underlying spiritual riches in an art, a child, or your own creative struggles. Mercury goes direct in your solar eighth house and may finally unsnarl problems with health insurance or estate paperwork.
CANCER – June 21-July 22 – Saturn makes a station in your solar fourth house on Wednesday; you become more conservative than ever and fear changes. The mother or other family member may become a source of concern or worry, but I am sure you will weather the personal trial and enrich your relationship. Take opportunities to capture retelling of family stories on tape or video. Matters related to partnerships may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday.
LEO – July 23-Aug. 22 – Saturn makes a station in your solar third house on Wednesday; this can really put a snag in transit or travel this winter/spring until Saturn turns direct in late May. Put off any vacation plans till summer at least, as the connections may not work out smoothly. Even local commutes may run into snarls so try different routes as needed. Matters related to health or jobs may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday. You will need to continue guarding your health tho, at least till Mars goes safely direct again in March. Take care.
VIRGO – Aug. 23-Sept. 22 – Saturn makes a station in your solar second house on Wednesday; pull back on outgoing expenses for now until you find out how this affects you personally. You might find that a source of income dries up temporarily, at least until Saturn goes direct again in late May. Your thrift and practicality are tested again, but you get by with hard work and sharing with others. Matters related to children and creative pursuits may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday.
LIBRA – Sept. 23-Oct. 22 – Saturn makes a station in your sign at 10:56 am Wednesday; you may have to dig deep into yourself to find the discipline and organization and yes, the drive to achieve your goals in 2010. Matters related to home and family may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday. Mars retrograding in your eleventh house means meetings with friends or clubs may be cancelled or postponed while health or debt issues are worked out.
SCORPIO – Oct. 23-Nov. 21 – The Moon is in Scorpio as Sunday rolls in, until midday. Sunday overnight has a square from the Moon to Uranus after midnight; possibly you might have colorful, exciting dreams or even nightmares. The morning features squares to Neptune and then Jupiter. This can mean emotional hurts and fears, but realizing that we all have imperfections will go a long way towards repairing relationships. The early am aspect to Neptune makes escapism tempting, but meditation is probably your best option. The Jupiter aspect at mid-morning adds a keen interest in religious, spiritual or philosophical ideas.
SAGITTARIUS – Nov. 22-Dec. 21 – The Moon is in Sag from 1:10 pm till late Tuesday. The Moon remains un-aspected till a sextile to Saturn at 10 pm; you can clear out several chores before bedtime and have things ready for the morning rush. The Moon trines Mars in Leo on Monday evening; take in a game or play a competitive round of golf/tennis/whatever. Tuesday has a square to Uranus about 11 am; emotional upsets are possible at home but step back and look at things coolly. A sextile to Neptune-Jupiter puts you on the sunny side of the street the afternoon and evening.
CAPRICORN – Dec. 22-Jan. 19 – The Moon is in Capricorn from 11:54 pm till midday Friday. The Moon is conjunct Pluto and square Saturn on Wednesday morn; you are awfully tempted to pull the plug on a job or relationship but I urge you to deliberate; Saturn is going retrograde and you may have to patch things up later. The Moon is conjunct Mercury at midday; the phone rings off the hook, and emails fly as you clear up misunderstandings ahead of Mercury’s direct station on Friday. Early Thursday you are challenged to re-evaluate your investments, insurance, or estate matters. A health issue may be the spur to changing things around. The Moon is conjunct not only the Sun on the first Solar Eclipse of the year but also Venus. Wishing you much love and kindness in 2010.
AQUARIUS – Jan. 20-Feb. 17 – The Moon is in Aquarius from 12:17 pm Friday till early next Sunday. A Moon-Saturn trine late Friday helps you establish goals for the week and year, or just tackle items on your to-do list. A Moon-Mars opposition about 6 pm Saturday makes you extremely competitive; also you might work out your frustrations at the gym. It is best that you ‘get physical’ in a positive way, because your irritability, especially with women, can cost you a lot of good will.
PISCES – Feb. 18-March 19 – The Moon in Sag squares Uranus in your sign midday Tuesday; this might signal an emotional storm so hold onto your center of balance. Uranus in your sign receives a sextile from Venus early Wednesday; women friends may surprise you with a gift, or you may just really, really enjoy a girls night out. Saturn makes a station in your solar eighth house on Wednesday; your quest for monetary security can meet with reverses, so do not entrust your whole life savings to any one person or company. Matters related to club membership or friends may finally move forward again when Mercury goes direct in Capricorn on Friday.
