Your Milky Way Horoscope April 27 — May 3, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Dear Readers– Please visit the website of the National Blood Clot Alliance at to learn more about blood clots and when you might need to see a doctor about it.

We have a lovely New Moon eclipse at 8 degrees, 52′ Taurus (a critical degree in fixed signs) at 2:14 am Tuesday. Fixed signs are very hard to dislodge from a position of comfort in their lives (OK, we might call them ruts instead) but when something like an eclipse happens on a critical degree like this, something is sure to happen. The Moon later trines Pluto and sextiles Jupiter, so let’s hope that events are positive and constructive.

Also on Tuesday, Mercury at 13 degrees Taurus trines Pluto at 1:29 pm. Mercury with Pluto is the detective, the researcher, the forensic investigator. The urge is to get to the bottom of whatever is the focus of your attention. Of course, for many of us this transit will just give us a pleasant time reading the latest murder mystery.

Mercury at 14 degrees sextiles Jupiter in Cancer at 4:32 pm Wednesday. Mercury, as many of you might know, is the lower octave of Jupiter in terms of education. Mercury rules practical knowledge that you can use every day, such as how to use the computer or smart phone. Jupiter is more the theoretical knowledge that is taught in colleges or applied to higher endeavors like medicine or space exploration. So in other words, this transit is great for starting a class or sitting down to a seminar or meetup session. And with Cancer there, you will certainly remember what you learn for years to come.

Mercury at 20 degrees Taurus opposes Saturn in Scorpio at 8:56 pm Friday. Mercury and Saturn should be compatible when in good aspect; it can help you when tackling subjects like science or law. In opposition, you may lean toward “what everybody says” when the actual science (Saturn) says something completely different. The tendency is to have a bad case of the gloomies under this transit. You may even consider breaking up with someone, but you are not in an objective frame of mind; you are seeing only the negatives. Try to distract yourself with some hard work and then some funny movies.

Venus enters Aries at 9:21 pm Friday. Venus in Aries is flashy with her red shoes and purse, and dashes around town in a cute little car. Takes the initiative in social situations. That means that for example, they are not shy about going up to someone and introducing themselves. It means that they will go door to door recruiting and organizing people for a block rummage or block party. A mature Aries personality uses this gift to encourage others to become self-sufficient and assertive, while presenting their message in a sensitive way. In love matters, Aries tends to choose on the basis of mental qualities, although physical fitness is also a must. Famous people with Venus in Aries include: Audrey Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Abe Lincoln, John Lennon, Willem de Kooning, Julie Christie, J Robert Oppenheimer, Henry Luce, Robert Frost, Mia Farrow, Laurence Rockefeller, and Ted Kennedy.

The Sun at 13 degrees Taurus trines Pluto at 8:34 pm Saturday. I remember a transit that was exact on one Kentucky Derby day years ago, when the Moon was trine Pluto. Silver Charm won that day. Now we have a Sun trine Pluto on Derby day, and I am not sure what horse’s name reflects that. Could be We Miss Artie, named for an Artie (Sun) who has passed on (Pluto). Unfortunately Artie is given almost no chance in the Derby because he seems to be a total grass and synth specialist.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 1-7, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 9 degrees Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn at 4:43 am Sunday. Sun as will and Pluto as power will spell a favorable time to select and use a mantra or affirmation to help focus on goals. Intense experiences or feelings may prompt you to make some changes. It’s also a good time to tackle things that require a good deal of energy, because your batteries have gotten recharged. It also favors research, digging down for the real story behind the story.
The Sun at 15 degrees Virgo sextiles Jupiter in Cancer at 9:47 am Saturday. A favorable day to be or meet a mentor or counselor. Your confidence and good cheer attract good luck, and doors open. A good time to make positive plans because you can see opportunities. A good time for working with groups, leading others, being interviewed for a job, or just networking.
A New Moon comes at 7:36 am Sept. 5, at 13 degrees 4′ of Virgo. There is a tight opposition to Chiron at 11 degrees Pisces, which is a bit worrisome, suggesting health challenges – but a sextile to Jupiter at 14 degrees Cancer lends assistance. Uranus throws a monkey wrench into the works from 11 Aries (inconjunct). Another lineup at 3-7 degrees of the signs also forms: Mars in Leo applies to a square to Saturn in Scorpio (accidents and injuries quite possible); Ceres in Virgo sextiles Saturn and opposes Neptune in Pisces (cut your losses and look to a new harvest two months hence); Juno in Aquarius is opposite Mars and applies to a square to Saturn (partnership breakups possible).

Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 26 – Sept. 1, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 7 degrees Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn at 8:21 pm Wednesday. We rise to the occasion, if the occasion is a crisis or emergency. The rank-and-file workers (Virgo) align with the management (Capricorn) – not sure if this is good or bad. Plutonian management might be fooling the workers into something that only benefits the management.
Mercury at 26 degrees Leo sextiles Saturn in Libra at 9:25 pm Wednesday. Libra politely tells someone goodbye. Saturn is science, so Mercury-Saturn is good for scientific papers, discussions, analysis, and research in general. Libra can sometimes be a worrier, and with Mercury bringing the nervous system in to the equation, that can spell insomnia and other nervous upsets. Although I must add that at the same time, the sextile is beneficial for starting positive HABITS, another Saturn item when you consciously (Mercury) choose to adopt a positive habit – probably just so you can fit into your designer duds (Leo).
We have a Full Moon Friday at 9:58 am – Moon at 8 degrees Pisces and Sun at 8 degrees Virgo. The Moon trines Mars and sextiles Pluto that morning, and squares Jupiter about 11 hours after the FM. Mercury at 28 degrees Leo squares the nodes, and opposes Neptune at 1 degree Pisces, making a very tight Grand Cross – in a chart set for Washington D.C., Libra rises and the nodes are in the money houses, Mercury in the eleventh and Neptune plus Moon in the fifth. If Neptune is in your own fifth house, I would be very skeptical of any sweet nothings whispered in my ear. You can however harness your idealism (Neptune) in a lot of hard work involving calls to legislators and talking about the issues with strangers.
Mercury enters one of its homes, Virgo, at 10:32 pm Friday. It soon opposes Neptune at 1 degree Pisces – a very mentally confusing and deceiving aspect, so don’t sign any papers – at 5:16 pm Saturday. Mercury in Virgo is good at analyzing and categorizing, sometimes creating endless categories when just a dozen would do. Has the fault of perfectionism, which can paralyze Virgo from accomplishing its goals or reaching out to others. May be quite good in medical fields such as research or lab work, but may not have the requisite bedside manner for a physician. Excels in office support functions where they keep the business running. Also could be a good lawyer in areas using detailed paperwork such as real estate, incorporation, bankruptcy, etc. Famous people with Mercury in Virgo include Lyndon Baines Johnson, classical pianist Vladimir Horowitz, Dag Hammarskjold, Leonard Bernstein, razor-witted Truman Capote, actress Anne Bancroft, Alan Jay Lerner, architect Eero Saarinen, and golfer Ben Hogan.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 29-May 5, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

The Sun at 9 degrees Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn at 9:34 am Sunday. Time to focus on your goals and on taking back control of your life. Use affirmations or other techniques to help you re-program your brain for what you want to accomplish.
Vesta enters Taurus at 12:48 pm Monday. Vesta in Taurus is torn between duty and personal desires. They may want one thing, and feel compelled to sacrifice themselves on an alter and do another thing. It’s a period when natives may spread themselves pretty thin doing too much – taking care of a parent, for example, while working in a demanding career. Or a native may cancel a vacation to take over a soup kitchen in an emergency. They enjoy baking bread and being a real Earth Mother.
Mercury at 21 degrees Aries sextiles Venus in Gemini at 11 pm Thursday. It becomes easier to talk about your affection for another person – holding hands is fun. We enjoy a leisurely drive to see spring color. Recharge your batteries by visiting nature or indulging your creative side – the hands (Mercury, Gemini) are more adept and skillful.
We have a Full Moon at 11:35 pm Saturday. The Sun-Moon opposition is not exact at the time the Kentucky Derby is run that afternoon. However, the Mercury-Saturn opposition at 24 degrees Aries/Libra is in effect all day. I think the experts (Saturn) will see the results of the race come out very different from what they expected. The news (Mercury) will be totally different from what they projected; expect the unexpected. I have given up putting out my analysis of this race, since there was little interest in it.
And that Mercury opposition to Saturn I mentioned above. This kind of opposition is where your way of thinking runs up against a brick wall. You’re told everything you ever believed is wrong, wrong, wrong. However, is great for finding a tutor, professor, or mentor who has a LOT to teach you. You’ll hate this aspect, but you will learn so much you would have ignored otherwise.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Aug. 28-Sept. 3, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Sun in Virgo is trine Pluto in Capricorn at 11:12 am Sunday. We may be called upon to be the pillar of strength under this aspect. Well, it never hurts to have your first aid kit ready to render assistance to anyone in need. I worry about that nasty Mars square Saturn which is still in effect, too, on top of this kind of transit. Hope any personal crisis is relatively minor. If you need any affirmations to help strengthen your resolve, try the About website:, or you might try the Louise Hay site, too:
We have a New Moon at 1:11 pm Sunday when the Moon conjoins the Sun at 15 degrees, 47 minutes of Virgo. The Sun-Moon oppose Chiron, and trine Pluto; this may suggest surgery or some major medical intervention. The Moon applies to a conjunction with Venus in Virgo hours later, and trines Jupiter in Taurus. This tends to favor just letting yourself be taken care of as your practitioners see fit. All will be well.
Jupiter stations retrograde at 5:17 am Tuesday at 10 degrees, 21 minutes Taurus. Venus in Virgo trines Jupiter a couple hours earlier at 2:36 am Tuesday. The fact that Jupiter is stationing only adds to the power of this aspect. Wishes can come true under this trine (or under a conjunction), with Venus whispering advice on how to attract the things you want. You may feel a bit like you are on vacation — ahead of the Labor day weekend; maybe it might not be a bad idea to extend the long weekend a bit and just enjoy what remains of summer.
The Sun in Virgo trines Jupiter in Taurus at 11:59 pm Friday. Some astrologers believe that a retrograde planet in aspect only intensifies the effect of that aspect. The spotlight might shine on you today, possibly due to the tremendous luck this aspect can bring. Well, I have learned to count luck in many ways; sometimes it has meant just being able to find an item at a price I can afford. So thank your lucky stars no matter what level of good fortune it delivers on your doorstep.

PS – I am listing a few used astrology books for sale on Amazon Books; Part Two was posted July 1! Look for reviews in my column with a link to the listing. Even more titles to come soon. Thanks for your support (and patience). Note that the Intuition book, listed in Part One, has sold.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 24-30, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Venus in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn at 3:21 am Wednesday. Venus-Pluto squares are said to signify romantic or sexual obsessions; one can’t get someone out of one’s mind, for example. In some natal charts it can denote some kind of emotional or sexual hangup, but then again who doesn’t have at least one of those? But seriously, you need to devote your attention to the matter at hand instead of letting your thoughts stray to that certain someone. It’s for certain that he sure isn’t spending every moment thinking of you, so let that dose of reality sink in.
The Sun in Taurus trines the same Pluto in Capricorn at 9 pm exactly. Pluto is evolution on all levels, and personal power. With the Sun, Pluto helps one to take control of self and situation. You have a bad habit? Pluto can dig down to the root causes of your need for this habit, and can root it out at the source. You feel like your life is out of your control? Pluto can help you at least change your self, the only thing you can change.
Venus opposes Saturn in Libra at 8:14 pm Saturday. Also Mars conjoins Jupiter in Aries overnight, at 12:26 am Sunday, May 1. Aries may feel pretty frustrated with blocks in their path; Aries doesn’t like to have to wait for others, or ask permission. Saturn can be authority, and basically the only authority that Aries accepts is their own. But Saturn demands you toe the line like everyone else, and so you have to deal with it. Mars-Jupiter can tempt you to take unusual risks; um, just be safety-conscious, OK? We don’t want you to crack your head open (again?).

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
