Dear Readers– Please visit the website of the National Blood Clot Alliance at StopTheClot.org to learn more about blood clots and when you might need to see a doctor about it.
Mercury at 29 Gemini sextiles Venus in Aries at 9:58 am Wednesday. This is followed by a New Moon at 7 degrees 21′ Gemini at 2:40 pm. Ooh, late degree of Aries and Gemini favors starting writing a book – any kind of book, a novel or cookbook or biography, just anything. Or if you really are not inclined to do any writing, you might take a very pleasant drive out to the countryside to see lovely signs of spring. You need to recharge your Beauty quota with scenic mountains or beach or fields. If it contacts native planets, you may find it easier to express your affection for dear ones. The Gemini New Moon will reinforce themes of communication (keeping things light, cocktail party chatter) as well as transit or travel. You may have to do more traveling for work, for example.
The Sun at 7 degrees Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces at 7:44 pm Wednesday. Any planet in combination with Neptune brings the risk of fraud or deception, but with the Sun there could indicate SELF-deception. You might be only fooling yourself if you minimize warning signs of trouble. Best to be proactive and check things out. Also a good chance of getting lost if you out looking for an address without good directions on how to get there.
Venus enters its home sign of Taurus at 9:46 pm Wednesday. Venus in Taurus likes to touch things. She likes the feel of silk, velour, polished stones or woods, and your nice peach-fuzzy face. Likes to smell the roses, too, or a bar of lavender soap, or any of zillions of small luxuries. Needs to learn to share material possessions, maybe loan out that garden tool or a book or two. Some people feel that there is no such thing as platonic love where a Venus Taurus is involved, but I am not so sure about that. Venus in Taurus is pretty conventional, preferring to marry rather than live with someone or play the field, although in later life they might feel that such rules don’t matter anymore. They want to fall in love and know that it will last forever. Has artistic sensitivities, and may be a musician, artist, or a mere collector of pretty things. FAMOUS PEOPLE with Venus in Taurus include: Doris Day, Charlie Chaplin, Richard Wagner, Bobby Darin, Ann-Margret, Paul McCartney, Hayley Mills, and Prince Edward.
Mercury enters Cancer at 5:12 am Thursday. Mercury (or the Moon) in Cancer has a prodigious memory, especially memories that are emotionally loaded. If well aspected, they are often great ones for knowing historical facts and dates. Sometimes their rational mind can be overwhelmed by emotional thoughts, so that their communication with other is at times filled with an emotional content that is not appropriate to the situation. Is capable of great emotional sensitivity and empathy, and can reach out to others in a caring way. Can be remarkably intuitive, of knowing something without knowing HOW they know it. Usually prefers to make decisions based on precedent rather than on daring innovations. Sometimes collects antiques or historical relics. FAMOUS PEOPLE with Mercury in Cancer include: actress Leslie Caron, Nelson and David Rockefeller, composer Igor Stravinsky, educator Thomas Mann, pianist Van Cliburn, singer-composer Paul Anka, Mary McCarthy.

POPE FRANCIS – I finally posted a little article on the new Pope Francis and also a kind of book review on a book that accidentally talks about ancient astronomy. The article on Pope Francis is here: https://milkywayastrology.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/a-look-at-the-new-pope-franciss-astro-charts/ And the article on the best book that both is and is not about ancient astronomy is here: https://milkywayastrology.wordpress.com/2013/06/02/the-best-book-about-ancient-astronomy-that-isnt-about-astrology-per-se/

Sweet Venus enters its home of Taurus with a sigh of relief at 3:25 am Monday. She tiptoes thru the door and up the stairs to slide in between some soft sheets on a poufy mattress. Let her sleep a bit late today, shall we? Venus in Taurus has a talent for picking up lovely things, but needs to get the hang of sharing them, such as by setting a table with her Waterford crystal and silverware, or loaning an item for a weekend. At the same time, they are genuine in their affections, but note that platonic love is not generally in their vocabulary. They are generally rather talented in music or other arts and have a lovely speaking voice. Famous people with Venus in Taurus include: songbird Doris Day, composer Richard Wagner, Bobby Darin, Ann-Margret, conductor Otto Klemperer, Sir Paul McCartney, and Prince Edward.
The Sun at 26 degrees Aries is conjunct Mars at 8:20 pm Wednesday. That’s on a critical degree, so this warlike aspect might have a lot more punch in world events today. On the personal level, you need to work off that energy in games or sports. On another level, this is a very ambitious aspect. Aries wants to be Number One anyway, and with that push from Mars, they can vault over anyone in their way.
Mercury at 9 degrees Aries is conjunct Uranus at 5:20 am Saturday. What an electric combination! This aspect is great for buying new items of a mechanical or electronic nature, such as cars, computers, appliances, etc. On a personal level, we may receive news that shocks or surprises us in some way, or we may feel like kicking over the traces and getting free of the daily rut. See my article on an electional chart for a car purchase.
The Sun enters Taurus at 7:48 am Saturday. Ah, Spring is finally here for real when both the Sun and Venus are in Taurus, when the Bull sniffs fields full of flowers, and the cows are led to mountain pastures for the summer. Taurus likes to be comfortable; just check out the hollow where he/she usually sits in the most comfortable chair. Taurus aims to accumulate material comforts and security; these are important to him/her, and Tau just never settles down if those things are not coming forthwith. Usually gifted with common sense. Flaws include stubbornness, over-eating, and laziness when not doing physically-demanding jobs. Famous people with Sun in Taurus include: Barbra Streisand, Andie MacDowell, William Shakespeare, Fred Astaire, Carol Burnett, Queen Elizabeth II, Audrey Hepburn, and Roger Hornsby.

Venus in Aries opposes Saturn at 29 degrees Libra at 6:18 am Sunday. Venus-Saturn oppositions can mean a break in a relationship; but more often one is torn between duty and fun – or if one of those planets rules a money house, your cash flow could be interrupted.
Venus enters its home Taurus at 5:25 am Monday, March 5, where she parks till April 3. Venus is comfortable here, and likes to decorate herself and her surroundings with art, knickknacks, music (to which she sings along), nice clothes, and color. Venus here has many practical skills, knowing how to cook, sew, decorate a room, fix things, or grow some vegetables in the garden plot out back. Is often found in a comfortable chair, soaking in a bubble bath, or at her massage therapist. Venus here is very giving also, and if you are her friend, you will receive gifts like that extra banana bread she made or a ticket to a concert.
We have a Full Moon at 4:39 am Thursday at about 17 degrees Pisces/Virgo, whereupon the Moon goes void-of-course. The Full Moon is accompanied by the Moon separating from a conjunction to Mars (late Wednesday), retrograde in Virgo. The Moon may be concerned about its body being run-down; retrograde Mars makes a lot of us very low in energy. So it is frustrated that it has not been able to complete projects by the Full Moon. We might make an extra effort to fix our eating habits and exercise more, but Pisces is not very good at disciplining itself. This is where one needs to tap into the energy of the opposite sign (Virgo, the dietician) and incorporate it into ourselves.

Both Venus and Mercury enter the sign Taurus on Sunday, May 15; Venus at 6:12 pm and Mercury at 7:18 pm. The downside of Venus in Taurus is that the Bull so loves his comfort that he is reluctant to share his creature comforts with others. Woe to the unwary visitor who sits in his favorite chair without asking! Taurus needs to learn to share not only his possessions but his clever methods for accumulating them. And on a larger scale, the Bull can share his values and the ability to enjoy simple pleasures.
As for Mercury, the paradox is that Taurus is a very creative sign, but Mercury here tends to block creativity and get locked into a rut, looking to literal interpretations of instructions, etc. Taurus also tries too hard to figure things out himself, often doing things the hard way just because he is not afraid of hard work. But please, little Bull, bend yourself to take a leaf from the books of those who have gone before you and discovered or invented easier ways to make progress. You do not have to re-invent the wheel!
Ha, I can talk. I have Mercury in Taurus and believe me, I have been too reluctant to look around for info or study aids or whatever that would make things easier for me. Show me, the Missourian in me says.
Mercury and Venus conjoin at 0 degrees Taurus at 5:25 am Monday, moving actually in lockstep for a few days; they will then sextile Neptune about 5 hours later. Love and other feelings find expression in letters and song; music IS the language of love after all. It’s a good day to enjoy the arts in general, not just music but dance and art. It also favors seeing patterns in not only data but in the various experiences of your life.
The above planets are very near Mars, and Mercury conjoins Mars first on Friday at 9:20 pm. They are at 7 degrees Taurus. A few hours earlier, Mars and Mercury at 7 degrees Taurus trined Pluto in Capricorn. Mercury conjunct Mars is forceful verbal expression, favoring debate but often getting bogged down in argument just for the sake of argument. Mental energy is high, though, and with Pluto you can easily make progress in research, slicing through irrelevant data like a knife to get to the nitty-gritty.
The Sun enters Gemini bright and early at 5:21 am Saturday, so that native Twins can pack double the fun on their birthdays. Gemini is sometimes a bit too glib, responding in superficial ways to conversation with friends and strangers alike. But some of them have developed a real gift for changing the atmosphere in a room with their lighthearted friendliness, and for drawing out others who don’t normally chat a lot. You grow through interaction with others that increases your appreciation for the infinite variety of human experience.
Venus in Taurus trines Pluto at 7 degrees Capricorn at 2:04 pm Saturday. Venus is happy to give her whole heart to someone that she loves completely, right down to the cellular level. The trine makes for easier expression of those intense emotions that we usually keep locked up.
Venus at 5 degrees Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn late Sunday; love and sex can get very intense under this transit. Relationships may be transformed or you may gain new insights into each other. Someone may suddenly turn out to be a lot deeper than you thought, once you’ve had a good chat with him or her.
Mercury at 3 degrees Taurus squares Mars in Leo at 12:17 am Monday. Use logic and reason when dealing with things you desire. You may have to negotiate with others over getting time off to pursue your hobbies or go on club outings. You might really enjoy a spirited debate (formal or informal), too, but don’t expect to change your opponent’s mind.
Mercury at 5 degrees Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn at 6:46 am Tuesday. This is excellent for research and detective work of any kind. Get out the deerstalker hat and gather your usual suspects together.
Saturn retrogrades back into Virgo (2:51 pm Wednesday, April 7), alas for Virgoans who were just beginning to relax. Time to tidy up any loose ends of matters unfinished when Saturn entered Libra last Oct. 29. You have until late July to get it done right this time, so get along there. At least the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) get a bit of a breather for the spring/summer.
Hey, got sick under a Sun square natal Mars transit. It ought to have given me a big burst of energy, but my bad habits and a bad batch of soup got me. Down I went with a case of food poisoning (I think). I needed the ‘inner cleanse’, like it or not. If one does not give an outlet for that Mars energy, one can easily get sick, so that is what happened to lazy me!
Venus enters her home sign of Taurus at 1:35 pm Wednesday, and boy is she glad to be back! Time to hang up her hat and put up her feet and maybe snack on a brownie. Sketches out the flower garden (because Venus trines Ceres on Friday) while the cat curls up at her feet, and the ipod plays Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Venus in Taurus is into material comfort, and the best use of Venus here is to share comforting acts, like exchanging back rubs with your partner. Venus in Taurus squares Mars in Leo on Saturday morn, bringing some sexual tension, but then again it’s so good to make up after a fight.
Mercury also enters Taurus, at 9:06 am Friday, but is not quite as at home here like Venus is. Mercury in Taurus likes to mull things over — a LOT. Mercury here likes to think about what he is going to say first, before shooting off his mouth. So don’t expect messages to be numerous and conversation to fly like the wind. The best use of Mercury here is to validate others’ suggestions and then go further by identifying how they can be brought into material reality.
Venus in Taurus is inconjunct Saturn at zero degrees Libra at 11:16 pm on Wednesday. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Taurus has been working (and worrying) hard, but now he needs to re-balance his life with some play and pleasure and having fun. Spring is sprung, with all that entails. Enjoy the greening fields and woods on local nature trails.
