Your Milky Way Horoscope March 23-29, 2014

By Milky Way Maid

Dear Readers– I continue to recover from an episode of blood clots on the lungs. Thanks for your good thoughts and get-well wishes. Please visit the website of the National Blood Clot Alliance at StopTheClot.org to learn more about blood clots and when you might need to see a doctor about it.

Mercury at 11 degrees Pisces trines Jupiter in Cancer at 9:11 am Wednesday. Jupiter is the higher octave of Mercury since both are mental planets; that means this should be a fine day for studies, for enrolling in the right college program for you, or for finding a teacher or tutor or guru.
Mercury at 13 degrees Pisces sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 1:30 am Friday. Mercury and Pluto together are excellent for digging down thru research files, doing forensic accounting, or any other type of detective work.
Venus at 22 degrees Aquarius trines Mars in Libra at 3:05 pm Saturday. As you can probably guess Venus and Mars in any harmonious aspect favor romantic relationships, or actually any type of close partnership. It is even good for buying or selling, if they rule the buyer and seller in a horary chart.
Venus at 22 degrees Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio at 5:14 pm Saturday. Venus with Saturn can be either good or bad; it can mean a difficult time in a relationship, or it can mean formalizing the relationship with an engagement or wedding. The square tends to accent the stresses, a separation or perhaps having to work hard at clearing up problems.

Your Milky Way Horoscope June 30-July 6, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Venus at 4 degrees Leo squares Saturn in Scorpio at 1:03 pm July 1. Venus-Saturn squares may sound rather depressing, but they could force the issue of where one’s relationship is going – are you really serious about each other? – Are you ready to make the commitment? – Do you feel any responsibility toward or for each other? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then you might formalize (Saturn again) your relationship with an engagement. If the aspect is not really strongly touching your natal pllanets, it may only mean that you gain some social polish (Venus) on top of your ambition (Saturn), or you receive some kind (Venus) advice from a mentor or older person (Saturn).
The Sun at 10 degrees Cancer opposes Pluto in Capricorn at 8:03 pm Monday. Sun-Pluto aspects have to do with demanding or losing control over one’s own life. The opposition has you (Sun) pointing to an opponent who you feel has or is trying to exert controls over your life, which you of course strongly resent! This can lead to power struggles. This can also, on a more subtle level, mean that you work to retrain your own mind of the unconscious or subconscious training that you received as a child, via pschotherapy or adopting mantras or affirmations, or Geotrans, or other similar self-improvement techniques. The Pluto figure can be either malignant or benign – it can be a Svengali type who assumes total control but helps you develop your talent to the nth degree. It can be a controlling husband or boyfriend who beats you and tears down your self-esteem. It can be a Hollywood studio, a mob boss, a super-corporation, a king or aristocrat – someone who has total authority over you. It can be a psychotherapist, as I mentioned before, who may be either a benign or malignant figure depending on his philosophy and skills.
The Sun at 12 degrees Cancer squares Uranus in Aries at 2:22 am Thursday, July 4. Sun-Uranus squares really resent being confined or ordered about. This Sun will challenge authority, get a petition together, rebel, toss a sabot (wooden shoe) into the mechanical works (the source of the word ‘sabotage’), and in general Fight City Hall, or if you prefer, fight for lost causes – the only ones worth fighting for! Since Uranus can also be geniuses, this aspect can also signify the brilliant inventor, the person who is ahead of his time.
July Fourth, the national birthday, also features the Moon in chatty Gemini, which seems to forecast a lot of speechifying. Plans may also be changed or made with rapidity; perhaps the weather turns up better than the weatherman said, and so everyone decides to go to the beach, or the zoo, or something like that. People will be VERY spontaneous! Now, this Gemini Moon on top of that Sun-Uranus square, which follows a Sun-Pluto opposition earlier this week, may mean some impromptu speeches to rally the crowd to march against something. It may mean a spontaneous demonstration. It may mean even a spontaneous riot, although we don’t seem to have a Mars tied into this energy to bring that about. But people will feel like they won’t stand for bullying from authorities any more.
The Moon is conjunct Mars in Gemini at 8:30 am Saturday, followed by Moon conjunct Jupiter in Cancer at 11:21 pm. Mars with Jupiter can bring risk-taking such as in the form of daredevil stuff or gambling or whatever. With the Moon, that just intensifies that urge. So if you have a little money that you will not miss, OK, spend a night at the bingo hall or buy a lottery tickee. Good luck!

Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 10-16, 2013

By Milky Way Maid

Mars at 6 degrees Pisces squares Jupiter in Gemini at 3:12 am Sunday. Mars-Jupiter squares are good for athletic events because the athletes reach down deep for their best effort – the emphasis is on Effort, which is one keyword for the square. In other areas, the square denotes risk-taking, as in gambling or in any other endeavor. You may be on quite a roll – at least until that one bad bet.
Venus at 11 degrees Aquarius squares Saturn in Scorpio at 1:42 am Monday. Venus square Saturn could be either “good” or “bad”, depending on your point of view and level of maturity. It can mean settling down with one’s life partner in marriage. It could mean breaking off a relationship if one feels too confined in it. Since Venus also rules money, there may be financial pressures or burdens.
Mercury at 11 degrees Pisces trines Saturn in Scorpio at 2:15 pm Tuesday. Saturn rules science and Mercury rules logic, so a good Mercury-Saturn aspect can denote scientific thinking. You are ready to sit down and crunch those numbers, test your hypothesis, take a random sample, etc. Since Saturn also rules older people, you may have a productive chat (Mercury) with an older person, professor, or mentor.
Mars at 11 degrees Pisces trines Saturn in Scorpio at 11:14 am Saturday. Mars and Saturn both have something to do with the military or police forces, with getting organized, logistics, etc. Together they may denote planning of an assault force or SWAT team or other military or para-military group. For the rest of us, we may have success at keeping to our New Year’s resolution, or making a new one to lose weight, for example, and stick to it.
We have a New Moon at 2:20 am Sunday, Feb. 10, at 21 degrees 43′ of Aquarius. The Moon precedes the conjunction with the Sun (New Moon) with a square to Saturn in Libra, and follows the New Moon with a conjunction to Neptune in Pisces – both hard aspects to malefic planets. So we are forced to deduce this will be a hard and difficult New Moon, with some illness or suffering (Neptune) in the news. Let’s hope that the current influenza strain does not get out of control.BTW it is also the Chinese New Year of the Snake.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Sept. 2-8, 2012

By Milky Way Maid

Venus at 26 degrees Cancer squares Saturn in Libra at 3:43 am Monday. This may sound funny, but this aspect is not comfortable with just taking the money and running. This Venus prefers to earn her money and pay her own way. Crazy I know, but you can still reward her with a nice dinner together at the end of a hard-working week.

Mars at 7 degrees Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn at 7:05 am Monday. Mars plus Pluto is a dynamo of unflagging energy who can move a mountain. So take aim at your personal mountain and dig in. Mars also trines Chiron in Pisces this week, so you may have some minor surgery (such as getting a boil lanced).

Mercury at 7 degrees Virgo trines Pluto in Capricorn at 12:46 pm Tuesday. Mercury-Pluto aspects almost always involve digging under the surface or doing research – or just relaxing with a nice mystery novel. You can benefit from greater focus and concentration to get a job done.

Mercury at 8 degrees Virgo sextiles Mars in Scorpio at 4 am Wednesday. This may be a minor aspect but it is good for handwork and crafts, also for sports where hand-eye coordination is needed. You are probably not awake enough to do any knitting at 4 am, but you might perk yourself up with some mental gymnastics on the way to work.

Venus enters magnanimous Leo at 10:48 am Thursday. Leo seeks a great deal of approval (Venus) from others, in the form of applause or thanks or public credit. Anything less may be interpreted as rejection! A mature Leo, though, understands OTHER’S need for acceptance and approval and warmly dishes that out. The Leo Venus is able to inspire others, validate their self-worth, and inspire others to express their unique gifts. Famous Leo Venuses include: talk-show host and game-show king Merv Griffin, author William Faulkner, poet Percy Shelley, golfer Arnold Palmer, playwright G. B. Shaw, conductor Leonard Bernstein, singer and sausage baron Jimmy Dean, singer Eddie Fisher, songwriter Alan Jay Lerner, actress Geraldine Chaplin, author Truman Capote.

Mercury at 15 degrees Virgo squares Jupiter in Gemini at 8:13 pm Saturday. Now don’t exaggerate! Mercury-Jupiter squares are prone to tell tall tales, and that’s OK if everyone knows it’s fiction. And if you are on the receiving end, tell the other guy to sell that story to Hollywood.

Uranus and Pallas are conjunct all week in Aries. Arian energy is expressed in leading; Pallas is a very capable expert in whatever field she chooses. Uranus may mean discovery or “overnight success” or suddenly realizing what it is you are best at.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Dec. 18-24, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Venus in Capricorn squares Saturn at 27 degrees Libra at 9:18 am Sunday. Venus-Saturn squares usually are either very good or very bad for love. One might formalize (Saturn) an engagement with an announcements (banns) or at least with a serious proposal. One might break off/end a romantic relationship. One might have cash flow problems, too. This is a special kind of aspect, a mutual reception, where the ruler of one sign is in the sign ruled by the other. Saturn is exalted in Libra so is the stronger party in this mutual reception. One might break off a relationship and be better off because of it.
The Sun in Sag sextiles Saturn at 27 degrees Libra at 11:24 am Monday. Positive Sun-Saturn aspects help one to discipline oneself to achieve a goal, such as checking off chores from your to-do list. You may benefit from chatting with a mentor or more experienced person.
Venus promptly makes two different aspects hours later. Venus squares Jupiter at zero degrees Taurus at 9:19 pm Tuesday, and sextiles Uranus at zero degrees Aries at 2:56 am Wednesday. Venus-Jupiter squares just dare us to go overboard on food, drink, sweets. Venus-Uranus sextiles give us an extra charm, we are interested in meeting new people (preferably ones with an foreign accent or who are unusual in some way). We may have an extra knack for music and jazz and the arts in general, as Venus and Uranus govern music and rhythm.
Venus enters Aquarius at 1:26 pm Tuesday. I do not believe that Venus in this sign means free love or open marriages or anything of the kind. Aquarius is a fixed sign, and Venus (or the Moon) in an air sign in general means that one prefers to have a mental connection with the one you love, in fact you demand it. I have known Aquarians who stay married for decades to the same partner; although the partner may be quite different from them in some way. Examples: different backgrounds, religion or race.
The Sun enters Capricorn at 12:30 am Thursday. Happy birthday to all the “sea goats” out there. Capricorns are hard-working and tend to be ambitious – if not for themselves then for their kids. Cappy is not as dull as they’re often made out to be, but when they are at work, they give it their all. Off duty, they may enjoy camping out and roughing it, or reading about history. They admire self-made men and women.
The Sun promptly trines Jupiter still at zero degrees Taurus at 9:33 am, and squares Uranus in Aries at 5:14 pm Thursday. Sun-Jupiter trines are quite lucky, and you may not have to do anything more than stand still so that luck can find YOU. Sun-Uranus squares provoke us into letting out the inner rebel, so you might wear something unusual or hang out with some strange people.
Looking ahead, Jupiter makes a stationary direct at zero degrees, 22 minutes of Taurus at 5:08 pm Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day. This should be extraordinary. In the middle of a recession, this station perhaps inspires us to look to the true meaning of Christmas on a spiritual level (Jupiter), even though Taurus is a sign that likes material comforts. Could we see the two blended in exquisite, inspirational music, possibly for opera or theater?

Your Milky Way Horoscope July 10-16, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Mercury in Leo sextiles Mars at 14 degrees Gemini at 11:28 pm Monday. You will be quite emphatic in your statements, so make sure you can back them up with Gemini facts. Also favors athletics (good hand-eye coordination), manual labor, working with heat or fire (like at the backyard grill). You’ll be busy with lots of errands, messages, and possibly crafts.
Venus in Cancer squares Saturn at 11 degrees Libra at 3:35 am Wednesday. The Venus-Saturn square can make us feel unloved, or undeserving of love, or make us withhold affection from others. It might be well to get advice from a mentor or older person, who will help put things in right perspective.
Friday features the Full Moon at 22 degrees Capricorn (opposite a Cancer Sun). It is exact at 2:40 am. The Moon’s last traditional aspect is an opposition to Venus on Thursday morn. Its last actual aspect is an uncomfortable inconjunct to Mercury in Leo about 7 pm Thursday. The main issue is feeling that we are not loved, valued and nurtured by the ones we love, and expressing our needs so that this situation does not drag on. Mercury in Leo is not shy about the latter.
Since there are not too many planetary non-moon aspects this week, we could talk about the asteroids a bit. Ceres moves into Aries on July 12. (It will trine Sun in Leo on July 24.) Ceres might not like the dry heat of Aries this month; let’s hope that farmers have enough soil moisture to get thru this transit without damage to crops. Ceres retrogrades back into wet Pisces in August and remains there thru the harvest season. That suggests the crop will be abundant, tho I hope that fields will not be too wet to harvest. On the personal level, people will crave plenty of Tex-Mex spicy foods while Ceres is in Aries, so keep a supply of fresh salsa on hand. Cooking with fire will have a special attraction, too, keeping the grill busy on a daily basis till your charcoal supply runs out. Ceres in Aries is constantly busy and possibly too helpful. Ceres in Pisces is very intuitive, sometimes religious, and loves to take care of her loved ones.
Pallas is retrograding from 12 degrees to 5 degrees Aquarius this month. Pallas in Aquarius is adept at applying practical knowledge in a practical way; she also enjoys group projects which may be humanitarian in nature.
Juno is transiting the last decan of Virgo this month until it enters Libra July 28, when it will oppose Ceres in Aries. Juno in Virgo is extremely fair-minded, also just about phobic when it comes to dealing with germs. So if you are attending a Virgo cookout, you can trust that the food has been prepared and handled safely. Juno in Libra insists on equality in relationships. The opposition at the end of the month says it might be wise to use more caution about food safety.
Vesta is retrograding from 19 to 14 degrees of Aquarius this month. Vesta in Aquarius curbs her ego in order to (or until) complete her chores. Vesta may not be comfortable here, but she is a good teammate who pitches in to get the job done.
Chiron is retrograding from 5 to 4 degrees Pisces this month. Chiron sextiles Jupiter in Taurus most of the month, since Jupiter has such a wide orb. This suggests that healing may come from Taurean comforts like massage, or from hydrotherapies (Pisces). You might check out local spas for sample treatments, or just visit the whirlpool tub at the nearest health club.

PS – I am listing a few used astrology books for sale on Amazon Books; Part Two was posted July 1. Look for reviews in my column with a link to the listing. Even more titles to come soon. Thanks for your support (and patience). Note that the Intuition book, listed in Part One, has sold.

Your Milky Way Horoscope Feb. 13-19, 2011

By Milky Way Maid

Sorry am late. Have been recuperating from killer flu and dealing with assorted other obstacles. 2011 is a tough but promising year.
Mercury at 17 degrees Aquarius trines Saturn (retrograde) in Libra at 3:48 am Monday. The trine is helpful for detail work; you focus on the task at hand and don’t feel much like small talk. However, you are so near to the trees that you cannot see the forest, comprende? This aspect also favors getting some long-range practical advice from a sage expert or an older person.
Oh, yeah, almost forgot. Valentine’s Day is Monday (a Monday, bleah) so you are probably interested in the transits. The Moon in Cancer opposes Pluto and Venus at midday and night, respectively. Venus seems a lot better. If Venus at 11 degrees happens to be in the seventh house at the time of your dinner, the Venus person will sure seem irresistible. With the Moon in Cancer, the food is sure to be delicious, too. Possibly seafood (Cancer) will be on the menu, topped off with a scrumptious dessert (Venus, who rules sugar and butter). Avoid luncheon dates, when a T-square involving Pluto at 6 degrees, Moon and Jupiter is in effect and might not be too pleasant.
The Sun is conjunct Neptune at 28 degrees Aquarius at 4:56 am Thursday. Neptune conjunctions tend to confuse one’s self-image; on the other hand it helps in changing one’s image or appearance. Ex: coloring one’s hair, or the way Madonna keeps reinventing herself. The cautions are to avoid drugs (and double-check your Rx refill label), alcohol, or other chemicals. Allergies can flare up. And beware of diving into emotional swamps, thinking you can ‘save’ someone. It’s OK to escape with daydreams, meditation, artwork, music,
Venus at 16 degrees Capricorn squares Saturn in Libra at 2:21 pm Friday. Time to withdraw for a bit and introspect about your relationships. A bit of self-analysis can produce insights that improve a discouraging situation. This square will be tougher than usual because Libra always gets frustrated if not in a happy partnership; maybe Libra is not happy because Capricorn is more interested in status than in the actual bond between the two parties. For example, sometimes Cappy thinks he wants a trophy wife, when a solid and honest relationship is more conducive to long-term happiness. The square and opposition are the most difficult aspects between these two, while the conjunction and trine can be very positive.
And the Sun enters Pisces at 7:25 pm Friday. Happy birthday to all our fishy-signed friends!Pisces can be indecisive, hesitant, lack self-confidence, and get in their own way. They can enjoy crying on others’ shoulders a bit too much. But the flip side is that Pisces can uplift others with their talents as artist, poet, musician, and social reformer/crusader.
This year’s ingress is accompanied by Mercury, Mars and Neptune. They are in the sixth house of health in a chart set for Washington D.C. Other health indicators: Moon is in Virgo (in the twelfth house of hospitals), and trine Pluto in the fourth. Saturn is applying to the ascendant, indicating possible weight loss or ill health. And Neptune conjunct both the Sun and Mars saps the vitality of both. All this puts the burden on Pisces to watch their health carefully to get through a challenging year.
Also on Friday is a Full Moon at 29 degrees Leo. See last week’s column about the series of FMs at 29 degrees. The Full Moon at 3:36 am Friday, at 29 degrees Leo, is conjunct the great star Regulus according to some books. Leos may be called on for their legendary courage this month.
An interesting thing happened with the Sun-Mars conjunction (exact Feb. 4 at 14 degrees Aquarius). I was sick most of the day and night before, with shall we say flu symptoms, and had to go to the ER Friday. Got re-hydrated with 2.5 units of fluid. Trying to figure out what was the contact to my chart and all I can come up with is that old Chiron was the culprit. He’s >>at 17 degrees in my natal chart; I’ve written about him before. (give link) But why any of these bodies should cause this sudden and severe dehydration is a mystery to me. No fever, which would have been explained by Mars’ presence — chills, instead.
YAY! The Packers won the Super Bowl! What did I tell ya? And didn’t I tell ya that Rodgers would have a great day? I did so. Too bad I was still too wiped out to go to a S.B. party or something. Hey, anybody have a tape of the game I could borrow?

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
