Your Milky Way Horoscope May 2-8, 2010

Mercury at 5 degrees Taurus (retrograde) trines Pluto in Capricorn on Monday morning favors going back to clarify some heavy-duty issues between you. It also favors any kind of detective work, or just reading a favorite mystery series novel. Those in scientific fields might announce new research discoveries.
The Sun at 14 degrees Taurus squares Mars in equally stubborn Leo at 9:09 am Tuesday. This is a classic irresistible force meets an immovable object. Something’s gotta give! It does make for a great deal of determination on the part of one person, or if two people combine their energies. Best to sublimate your physical aggressiveness in sports or challenge others to a friendly match, otherwise this aspect can result in accidents.
Happy Cinco de Mayo on Wednesday! A Moon-Venus trine is at 7:11 pm so there will probably be lots of sweets offered, plus other gifts and tokens. A Moon-Mars opposition in Leo about 10 pm says it may be well to go home early; people may be irritable and take offense easily.
Venus in Gemini sextiles Mars about 6 pm Friday. This is great for a romantic outlet for your high Leo energies. With Gemini involved, the expression may only involve conversing about a sexy subject, or in other words flirting.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 25 – May 1, 2010

We are now solidly into Taurus, the sign of the Bull. Taureans share their sun sign with famous people like Martha Graham, Fred Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, Shirley Maclaine, Irving Berlin, and Margot Fonteyn. Ancient Egyptians believed that at the winter solstice, the sky goddess Nuit gave birth to a newborn calf, the Sun. The Sun emerged from where the starry stream splits into two, forming the Cygnus Rift; the sun appears on the horizon at dawn at approximately Nuit’s feet. Furthering the correspondence between humans and cows, is the fact that they share the same gestation period of 272 days, and that is also about the period between the spring equinox and the winter solstice. Some have pointed out that a sketch of a human uterus, with fallopian tubes and all, somewhat resembles that of a bovine skull. A herding society would have been well aware of the similarities between humans and their main food supply, cattle. Is it any wonder that Nuit and Hathor are cow-mothers, with crescent moons for horns?
On Monday at 7:23 pm, retrograde Saturn opposes Uranus in Pisces. In the outer world, the collapse or breakup of a symbolic building or group, or massive protests/riots, may dominate headlines. In your personal world, you are apt to want to rebel (Uranus) against the authorities (Saturn) or against unjust rules, or just leave your responsibilities behind. What is the point, you ask, of going to work every day when the only ones who profit are the credit card companies and the bank? A lot of people are asking themselves the exact same question. Well then, try going to work for yourself instead; it could work out.
This transit should ease by the end of May, but return when Saturn (in forward motion) again opposes Uranus (retrograde) in late July. This could be a frustrating year for a lot of us, so please try to give others the benefit of the doubt if they seem in bad moods.

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 18-24, 2010

Mercury goes retrograde at 12:06 am Sunday, April 18. Now stop that whining and crying. You will finally have a chance to catch up on some reading and messaging. AND if you take a trip under Mercury retrograde, you can be sure that you will always come home at the end of it.

The Sun enters calm and creative Taurus on April 20 at 12:30 am. Time to think about spring, planting a garden and being grateful for living on this planet. Mercury in Taurus (which is at about 12 degrees, and went retrograde on April 18) sextiles Moon in Cancer the same morning; you find it easier to talk about your feelings. Remember, too, that you might make someone’s day by being sympathetic. The Moon trines Jupiter at 21 degrees Pisces that night. It’s a good day to reach out to others with a helping hand.

Venus in Taurus squares Neptune at 28 degrees Aquarius on Friday at 3:54 pm. This is such a dreamy and impractical aspect that it is difficult to use it in a positive manner. You may be in love with love, or delude yourself into believing the most preposterous flim-flam story. Relationships begun now often end unhappily over lies and deception, often of one’s own making. However, those who are involved in the arts can reach levels of beauty and truth they never imagined before.

Venus sextiles Uranus the same night at 10:06 pm, at 28 degrees Pisces. This is another falling-in-love aspect, so be sure you are with someone that you want to get mixed up with! Venus then trines Saturn (28 degrees Virgo) at 3:44 am Saturday. Differences between you and your significant other can be calmly thrashed out if there is a sense of mutual respect.

Venus enters Gemini on Sunday, April 25 at 1:05 am. Twins will find they look even more youthful and vibrant even if they do not go to a salon. But go anyway, just to freshen and update your look. Geminis always like to look up-to-date!

Your Milky Way Horoscope April 11-17, 2010

There’s almost all Moon aspects this week, with almost none between any other planets. Hope this means a fairly quiet week for most of you, since I am pretty sure you can use the opportunity to catch up on routine stuff. Jupiter in Pisces trines Pallas in Scorpio Monday; victims may find an ombudsman-type (this includes lawyers but also social workers and spiritual advisors) to take up their case. Saturn inconjuncts Chiron in Aquarius all week; you may learn about an alternative healing therapy or begin an actual formal course of study of it. Sufferers of mystery ailments may find a local practitioner who sheds light on their condition; this may mean that you are forced to make some changes in your lifestyle but if you want to get better, follow through with it.
A New Moon at 24 degrees 27 minutes Aries occurs at 8:29 am Wednesday. Follow through on projects already begun, since Mercury is about to go retrograde and may undo any new stuff. This must be terribly frustrating for Aries, who is all about starting new things. The good thing about this Aries New Moon is that at least Saturn has backed away from pressuring the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn). On the other hand, the mutable signs are asked to tie up any loose ends from when Saturn left Virgo last fall, and that repeats the message of Mercury retrograde to go back to ‘edit’ and backup any recent changes. Placing a chart for Washington DC for this New Moon puts Neptune right at the top of the chart in the tenth house. This does not bode well for the president or for the nation’s business affairs, although it strikes a hopeful and idealistic note in sympathy with (sextile) the Sun-Moon conjunction in the eleventh house. OK, it is good to be optimistic, but let us not deceive ourselves that everything is rosy.
Venus in Taurus sextiles Jupiter in Pisces late afternoon Saturday. In other words the lesser and greater benefics are really chummy this weekend; kittenish Venus cuddles up with her sugar daddy who spoils her rotten yet again. Bring on the champagne and cake.
Oh no, I hear you groan, Mercury goes retrograde again 12:06 am Sunday, April 18. It will be at 12 degrees 38 minutes of Taurus, closely trine the North Node and roughly square Mars in Leo. I am going to take my cue from the trine to the node, and hope to grow toward my better self. Perhaps some constructive debate can clear the air between you and loved ones (Mercury-Mars aspect). Let them explain themselves to improve understanding between you.
Ugh, I confess I really do not want to write the column this week. Maybe it is spring fever, or maybe I am just a lazy Taurus looking for any excuse. Excuse me if I am brief this week.

A gift to my lovely readers —

As a special gift to my readers I thought you might enjoy some background music. A terrific writer and geek found these archived radio recordings of the Beatles for a Swedish radio show way back when. He cleaned them up a bit and edited them, and here they are. Five songs in cool condition. So turn up the volume alright already.
